For sale is a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo LSE 4X4 in excellent condition. This is the same truck as the Honda Passport. It is a V6 & Automatic. White with gray leather interior. Leather is excellent and looks almost new with no rips or tears. Carpets are perfect and clean everywhere. Only 2 owners. Non smoker, ashtray has never been used. Never in any accidents. Alignment is good. Drives very straight with no shaking or noises anywhere. Runs excellent! Engine compartment is very clean. No exhaust leaks or fluid leaks anywhere. 4WD engages smoothly and works perfectly. Always garage kept and very well maintained since new. This truck really shows how well it has been cared for in and out, cosmetically and mechanically. There is no rust anywhere. The undercarriage and frame are in perfect condition. Wheel wells are spotless. All 4 wheels look brand new with no curb damage or scrapes. Tires all match and have at least 75% tread still on them. Bottom of all doors and door frame area's are rust free and very clean. All doors open & close perfectly and like new with no mis-aligned or hard to close doors. It is a very solid and reliable truck. Paint shines like new with no faded areas anywhere. Power sunroof, Windows/locks/mirrors, A/C, Cruise, Tilt, Original AM/FM/Cassette radio with 6 disc changer, Driver & Passenger air bags. A/C blows cold, heat is hot. Everything works on this truck except the 6 disc OEM changer is jammed. It jammed while changing CD's. Now the CD's wont eject or play. Probably easy to fix if taken apart. The truck does have high mileage, but truly looks new everywhere in & out. This truck needs nothing. It was just inspected last week (expires 10/2014). I told my mechanic I was selling it and to make sure it was 100%. He said it needed $633 worth of repairs to make it 100%. So it now has new front and rear brakes and 1 new wheel bearing (right rear). This truck is in very impressive condition!

Junkyard Gem: 2005 Isuzu Ascender

Sun, Mar 18 2018

We know the GMT360 platform best as the basis for the Chevrolet Trailblazer and GMC Envoy, but there were four additional trucks in the GMT360 family: the 2002-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, the 2004-2007 Buick Rainier, the 2005-2009 Saab 9-7X, and the 2003-2008 Isuzu Ascender. All these trucks were more or less the same, but the Isuzu is by far the rarest; I searched for a junkyard Ascender for months before I found this one in Arizona. Exact production figures are tough to find, and some will tell you that the Saab 9-7X is even more rare. In wrecking yards, though, I see SaaBlazers pretty regularly, but it has been like pulling teeth to find an Ascender. Perhaps the Saab name adds more value than the Isuzu name, when you're searching for a used SUV. Isuzu dealerships in the United States sold Ascenders until the fateful day in 2009 when the company packed up and left the country. Had the Daewoo brand stuck around in the United States past 2002, we might have seen a Daewoo-badged GMT360 as well. Ascenders were built in Ohio and Oklahoma. This one, photographed in Phoenix, came from the latter plant. Most of the GMT360s could be had with various flavors of V8 engines as optional equipment, but nearly all of these trucks came with the Vortec 4200 4.2-liter straight-six. My 1941 Plymouth project car is getting one of these engines. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

GM-Isuzu joint venture assembles 1.5-millionth Duramax diesel

Wed, 21 Nov 2012

General Motors and Isuzu have officially stitched together 1.5 million Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engines. The joint venture between the two manufacturers started in 1998, and now the DMAX plant employs 517 workers in a 584,000 square-foot facility. GM introduced the Duramax turbo diesel engine to the US market for the 2001 model year, and it can be found trucks like the Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD as well as the full-size Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans. In its current configuration, the engine yields 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque at just 1,600 rpm.
Of course, the big oil burner has plenty of tuning potential as well. As you may recall, a Duramax-powered truck recently set the land speed record for towing a vehicle at 142 miles per hour.
GM owns 60 percent of the joint venture, with Isuzu laying claim to the remaining 40 percent. The facility is located in Chicago. You can take a look at the brief press release below for more information on the milestone.
