As stated earlier, this Trooper is a 4 wheel drive 2.6 liter 4 cylinder gasoline engine with a 5 speed transmission. It has not been cranked in over a year but it was my daily driver in college and it cranked and drove fine the last time I drove it; the battery may need to be changed or charged. The engine only has about 130,000 miles on it, which is pretty low for these Japanese 4 cylinder engines. Yes, this is the high quality Japanese engine that is known to run strong for hundreds of thousands of miles. The transmission is perfect; all gears 1-5 and R shift completely and easily.

I was involved in an accident in this Trooper which resulted in bending the frame. I drove it around for months like this but it pulled slightly right. Since I could not find a mechanic willing to bend the frame back straight I just had the toe end straightened so it would drive straight. There are some other minor things wrong with it considering it is 23 years old (but a classic!). The driver's side window needs a new mechanism so it'll roll down (I bought one but never installed it so I think it's still in the vehicle, if so you can have it free). The paint is chipped and scratched and there are some other body panels on it from the wreck. There are other things that aren't perfect but it's up to the new owner whether or not to fix them.

Mazda and Isuzu to collaborate on a new pickup truck

After decades, Mazda has finally untangled itself from its relationship with Ford. The last vestige of that partnership is the BT-50, a rebadged version of the global Ford Ranger pickup truck. Once the BT-50 ends production, Mazda has announced that it will collaborate with Isuzu to develop its next generation of pickup trucks. The BT-50 was co-developed with Ford's Australian division. In their current iteration, the BT-50 and its Ranger twin were never on sale in the United States. Mazda's last pickup in the US was the B-Series, itself also a rebadged version of the old Ford Ranger. Isuzu pulled out of the US passenger vehicle market in 2009, although it still sells commercial vehicles here. Isuzu, continuing a long and complicated relationship with General Motors, co-developed the diesel engine that currently powers the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. In select markets, Isuzu sells a rebadged version of the Colorado as the D-Max. Details on the Mazda/Isuzu tie-up are scarce. A single press release simply says "Isuzu will produce next-generation pickup trucks for Mazda, based on Isuzu's pick-up truck model." This isn't the first truck collaboration between the two companies. Since 2004, Mazda has sold the Titan, a rebadged version of the Isuzu Elf commercial truck. The Elf is sold in the US as the Isuzu N-Series. Those in the US hoping for a new competitor in the midsize-truck segment shouldn't get their hopes up for the new truck. There are currently no plans to bring them here. There is hope, though, that Ford will bring the Ranger replacement stateside sometime in the next few years. The Geneva Motor Show is usually the highlight of auto show season. There are always a ton of interesting debuts. This year alone, we saw new models from McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-AMG and more. That doesn't count the ridiculous and tasteless stuff that comes out of Brabus or Mansory. Personally, one of the biggest reasons I enjoy going is to see all the cool stuff that we won't get in America. Watch the video for a brief walkaround of the show floor. Even the city streets offer unusual sights for Americans. Geneva is so close to France that there are Citroens, Peugeots and Renaults everywhere. Then there are cars like the Volkswagen Polo and Up! or a multitude of wagon variants of cars like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4 and A6. Even the exotics come out in droves. There was a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer parked along a side street. There were two Lamborghini Aventadors parked outside our hotel. Just Geneva things.
