Infiniti teases the next generation QX80 SUV

Our latest teaser ahead of the New York Auto Show comes to us from Infiniti. The company didn't reveal anything more than a name, the QX80 Monograph, and the single picture seen above. However, we can determine a few things from this tidbit of information. First, Infiniti is teasing a vehicle that will represent the upcoming successor to the current QX80 SUV, albeit in concept form. Second, the SUV is going to see a fairly significant redesign. The headlights are now lined up with the top half of the grille rather than the bottom, and the tops of the fenders are higher. This provides a more aggressive, square-shouldered appearance. The lower vents and front spoiler look more aggressive, too. The SUV will be fully revealed on April 11 in time for the New York Auto Show, as will more details about the vehicle. At that point we should know if this is a completely new vehicle, or a substantial refresh of the current Nissan Patrol-based SUV. Related Video:

Infiniti Q50 sedan recalled over steering software glitch

The Basics: Infiniti will recall around 60,000 Q50 sedans globally due to a glitch in the software that controls the cars' direct adaptive steering system. It's this hardware and software that allows the Q50 to steer itself autonomously under certain conditions. A total of 28,182 Q50 sedans will be recalled in the US, with another 3,804 in Canada. We're not certain yet which model years will be recalled, but the direct adaptive steering debuted in 2014. The Problem: According to Infiniti spokesperson Stefan Weinmann, "in certain rare circumstances, just after starting the vehicle" a software glitch "can lead to a lack of steering responsiveness and change in turning radius." Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Infiniti hasn't yet announced how it will fix the issue, but a software update seems likely. That means a trip to the dealership. If you own one: Expect to hear from the manufacturer later this month or next. 2021 Infiniti Q50 and Q60 recalled for stalling issue

Infiniti is recalling 2021 Q50 sedans and Q60 coupes due to faulty engine-management software. The issue is with the engine control module (ECM). After rapid acceleration, the ECM can reduce the fuel supply to the engine too much, resulting in the engine going into limp-home mode and possibly stalling. A total of 12,943 cars are affected by the problem. Infiniti will commence the recall on May 25. Owners will be notified and asked to bring their cars in for software reprogramming. The fix will be performed at no cost. Owners who are concerned about the issue can reach out to the manufacturer at 1-800-662-6200. Infiniti's reference number for this recall is R20C5.
