This awesome 2007 Hyundai Accent Hatchback has been a wonderful problem-free vehicle for me for the past couple of years, but I have decided to sell it since I work within walking distance from home.  The car had one prior owner, who took excellent care of the car and drove it infrequently.  I have not put many miles on it either, so it has very low mileage for being a 2007 (under 29K).  MPG is excellent, and gets approximately 32 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.  It has a CD player with 6 speakers, and sounds great.

I am a non-smoker and without pets, as was the previous owner, and the car is very clean inside and out.  The interior is in excellent condition and is free of tears and stains aside from normal wear to carpeted floor mats as you can see in photos.  The AC works fabulously and is very cold.  Love the hatchback feature - lots of room in the back for a small car.  It is complete with 6 standard airbags:  dual front, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and roof mounted side curtain airbags.

Hyundai offers many different types of warranties on their vehicles, some which only apply to the original owner and other limited warranties which are transferable to subsequent owners.  These warranties include the "No Rust" Anti-Perforation warranty (7 years, no mileage restriction), Emissions Performance (8 years/80K miles for some emissions-related components), Emissions Design and Defect, Emissions Control System, and Replacement Parts and Accessories warranty.  I have all of the handbooks and original materials that came with the car with all of the detailed information on the various warranties through Hyundai.

I have completed scheduled maintenance and taken excellent care of the vehicle, and I haven't needed to do any major repairs.  It passed inspection just days ago, so it is all set for the coming year.  It has a few small cosmetic dings and scratches, which I have pointed out in the photos.

Please check out the photos and let me know if you'd like to see any additional shots.  Payment must be made through PayPal, and buyer is responsible for pick-up from Austin, TX.

South Korea firms up fuel economy regs following Hyundai/Kia debacle

Tue, 30 Apr 2013

According to a report from Reuters, South Korea's government has drafted strict new rules for automakers to follow when calculating fuel economy. The legislation comes after a major snafu by Hyundai and Kia that resulted in the automakers lowering the estimated fuel mileage of many popular models - some by several miles per gallon, including the Soul subcompact above - and compensating owners in the US and Canada for the reduction.
The new fuel economy rules were announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in South Korea and will see average mileage ratings drop by roughly three to five percent, according to the report. In addition, manufacturers found guilty of overstating mileage figures will be liable for fines of up to $900,000.
These sweeping new regulations will go into effect in the second half of 2013 and, while they won't have any effect on EPA estimates for Hyundai and Kia vehicles in the United States, they are expected to result in new ratings for the two automakers in their home market of South Korea, where they enjoy a whopping 70-percent market share.

Hyundai, Kia announce buyback plan for angry Korean investors

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

Hyundai's controversial decision last September to move its Korean headquarters to an expansive (and expensive) new facility was met with a swift backlash by shareholders. After making the biggest land purchase in South Korean history, the company's share price took a nine-point nose dive.
Now, in a bid to get back in the good graces of its stockholders, Hyundai and its subsidiary, Kia, will make a $615-million stock buyback plan. Reuters claims this is the first time in ten years that Hyundai has made a buyback offer with the explicit purpose of pumping up share prices.
The total deal bumped up Hyundai's share prices 5.7 percent while Kia is up two percent, although neither company has fully recovered from the battering that followed the headquarters announcement. It's unclear what else it will take for Hyundai to recover the ground it lost during the land deal.

10 automakers sued over keyless ignitions

Thu, Aug 27 2015

Keyless ignition has rapidly proliferated throughout the auto industry to become a fairly normal feature on new cars. It's supposed to offer the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and just pressing a button to drive away. However, ten major automakers are now being sued in US District Court over claims that the system is dangerous, Reuters reports. The suit alleges that people are forgetting to shut off the engine, and the lack of an idle timer is the cause for 13 deaths by carbon monoxide poisoning and multiple injuries. The suit currently includes 28 plaintiffs, according to Reuters, but the lawyers are asking for class-action status to potentially add many more. The case goes after a major swath of the industry, including BMW, Daimler, FCA, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen, plus their related brands like Acura, Infiniti, Mini, and Lexus. In all, over five million vehicles are affected. The assertion here is that people walk away from their vehicle without shutting it off because they believe the engine shuts off automatically. If parked in a garage, carbon monoxide can build up, leading to poisoning. The lawyers claim automakers know this is a problem and also cite 27 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs are asking for an automatic shut-off and damages from the companies. These concerns have come up before, though. Toyota previously faced a lawsuit over a carbon monoxide death after a woman accidentally left her Lexus running. Also earlier this year, GM recalled 64,186 examples of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt because owners weren't shutting them off. The problem resulted in two injuries, and the company released a software update to limit the idling time.
