The 2018 Honda Accord will have the Civic's sexy roofline

The current ninth generation Honda Accord started production in 2012, and although the midsize sedan got a facelift in 2016, it's time to start looking ahead to the tenth generation. Honda is fresh off the successful launch of the latest Civic, so expect a strong follow up to what is already one of the best sedans on the market. Our spy photographer caught the latest heavily-camouflaged model out testing. As with so many test vehicles, this latest Honda Accord is heavily covered with camouflage. The overall shape is very Civic-like, with a fastback roofline and short trunk lid. The headlights appear to be wide, narrow, and similar to the current design, but again it's difficult to make out any specific details. Our photographer also managed to get a couple pictures of the interior, but those don't reveal much other than a number of buttons, which is an improvement over Honda's current infotainment system. It's difficult to see if the two-screen setup remains. Other than that, these photos don't reveal much. We can only speculate on things like interior improvements or engine and options, but turbocharging and CVTs are almost assuredly on the table. The future of the V6 seems especially uncertain as much of the Accord's competition has moved to four-cylinder only power. Look for a full reveal the 2018 Honda Accord sometime next year. Fred Savage wants to narrate your home videos to practice for Honda gig

Honda is getting ready to launch a new advertising campaign with Fred Savage of The Wonder Years (and The Princess Bride) fame, and in order to get his voice in game shape, Savage is taking to social media to get prepared. More specifically, he's apparently interested in adding some voiceover to fun videos provided by fans of the Honda brand, and all you have to do to be considered is to get his attention on Twitter using the hashtag #HondaPromo.
We have no idea how Savage or the Honda PR team plans to choose which videos will be turned into narrated works of art, but we do think it's a pretty fun idea. So, if you happen to have a video that could use some narration, and you think Savage would provide the perfect pitch, hit him up. Oh, be sure to read the terms and conditions first.

Even Ferrari swept up in latest Takata recall expansion

The scope of Takata's deadly airbag problems continues to widen. Eight manufacturers announced recalls Friday that affect more than 12 million vehicles, according to documents filed with federal regulators. The automakers include Honda, which is recalling 4.5 million units, Fiat Chrysler with 4.3 million, Toyota with 1.65 million, and Subaru, which is recalling almost 400,000. Some of these cars include the Saab 9-2x and Pontiac Vibe that Toyota and Subaru made for General Motors. Mazda will recall 730,000 vehicles and Nissan has 400,000 affected units. The smallest numbers were posted by Mitsubishi, with 38,000 Lancers manufactured from 2006 to 2007, and as a noteworthy high-end manufacturer, Ferrari is calling back 2,800 vehicles. These are all US-market cars. Beyond America, the Japanese Transport Ministry has announced seven million additional vehicles will be recalled, which means 19.6 million vehicles across the globe are affected by recalls announced. The defects have been traced to an insufficiently manufactured airbag inflator, which lacks a drying agent that would prevent the inflators from deteriorating over time. Thirteen deaths have been linked to the faulty airbags, which have become unstable and are prone to exploding and showering vehicle occupants with lethal amounts of metal shrapnel. A private equity firm, KKR & Co., has been named in a possible buyout of the struggling Takata.
