2001 Honda Insight. The automobile drives perfectly strait down the road.. and runs great.   It is from the Carolina’s. I have been the owner of the car for about 2 years I am guessing.  I needed a car with great fuel economy… great dependability.. and the best one I could find was the Honda insight.. with over 50 mpg. It lives up to its standards.   Being that the car is made out of aluminum, from top to bottom, one will not have to be concerned about the car becoming a rust bucket.   It has new spark plugs. Oil changes are done with the best oil available.  The timing belt is a chain.. so you don’t have to change it like regular Honda auto’s.  When I purchased it.. it had a dent on the car. It looked like a car backed into the area just past the passenger door.. and I had it fixed correctly.  The dealership I purchased the car through.. could not find me a stick shift Honda insight in blue.  They were all on the west coast…and mostly automatic.  I desired one in a stick shift for the better miles per gallon.  I feel the  stick shift is more dependable..  and more fun to drive.  The only problem was the one they did find in the Carolina’s was a salvage title.. because the insurance company did not want to fix the dent for the previous owner. I looked at pictures and decided the damage was so small, that it would be worth fixing. I had it inspected and Honda said I needed a new hybrid battery because it was 11 years old.. even though it drove fine.. so I had it replaced along with an o2 sensor.  The car will now and then get a check engine light code that says the cataletic converter is on its way out. right now the light is not on.. but it will probably come back..  That converter is 200 dollars new on ebay if someone chooses to replace it.  The Honda shifts well. Clutch is great.  There is a smaller check mark shaped scratch on the right rear of the back bumper..noticeable close up. a  couple of  little scratches and some nicks around the car  and some stone chips on the front of the car.. and a little scrape on the front bumper cover's clear coat.. hardly noticeable..  There is one tiny ding on the car that I noticed on the driver’s door.. too small to get a picture of it...  Most of the stuff is only noticeable from a foot away. The car looks great otherwise.. The windshield had a small crack.. so I replaced it.  There is no warranty on the car.  The ABS brakes work fine.. brakes have been checked and have plenty of life in them.. and stop very well.  The tires are good. The electronics inside the vehicle work well.  It still has the original cassette radio in it....  The air conditioning works great.  This car has been more dependable than any car I have had prior, and I would not be selling this car if I could fit more family members into it.  I still get people pointing at.. and complimenting the Honda which tells me that it still looks pretty good. Please stop by and take the car for a ride if you desire.  (440) 759-9683.  I have tried to describe all the little things wrong with the car the best I could.

P.S.  I have purchased a hybrid battery grid charger for the vehicle.. and will throw that in with the car if the price of the car goes above $3,500.00… If the charger gets installed.. It just allows someone to plug the car into a wall outlet to keep the hybrid battery at peak performance.  This charger is a permanent part of the car once installed.. and will only fit this style Honda Insight. It has instructions and should be installed by a mechanic facility.  The car doesn't actually need the charger.. the car itself handles charging the battery as it is driven.  Its just an extra item for better miles per gallon and ensuring the hybrid battery lasts as long as possible:)

Honda Civic Type R on track to smash 'Ring record, eclipse NSX

Wed, 01 Oct 2014

Honda has made some serious performance machinery over the course of its history, but few products have been as hotly anticipated as the upcoming new Civic Type R. Following a deep and proud history of Type R Hondas, the latest Japanese hot hatch is continuing its long striptease at the Paris Motor Show this week. But before it does, Honda has released this video clip featuring project leader Suehiro Hasshi - and he has some bold claims to make.
For one, he says it'll be the best Type R yet - and that's quite a statement considering some of its predecessors, including the almighty NSX Type R. Hasshi-san also reiterates Honda's aim of snatching the front-drive lap record at the Nürburgring away from the likes of Renault and Seat, and reports that the Honda team is on track to chew every bit it's biting off. In short, the new Civic Type R ought to be sensational.

Honda museum opens at company HQ in SoCal, first public day is next month

Tue, Sep 12 2023

You don't see too many ordinary cars in automotive museums, and it makes sense. Rare luxury models, iconic muscle cars and obviously collectible vehicles are far more likely to get preserved and find themselves parked upon a climate-controlled pedestal someday. And yet, even if they may not be as collectible, everyday cars typically strike a stronger emotional and nostalgic chord in all of us. They firmly recall a specific time in our lives; what we were doing and where we were. Even if we never owned the car in question, ordinary cars were bound contribute to the overall landscape of your world.  Which is why finding a museum devoted to ordinary cars such a treat. Now, "ordinary" can have negative connotations, so perhaps "ubiquitous" is better to describe what you'll find in the new American Honda Collection Hall at the company's headquarters in Torrance, Calif. As you can see in the gallery above, there are pristine examples of the Hondas we grew up in, learned to drive in, brought us to college ... and those are just my own personal examples. Of course, there are also decidedly less ordinary examples such as the S2000 CR, Civic Type-R Limited Edition and Acura NSX, but apart from perhaps the latter, it would be rare for you to see such "Radwood-era" cars in a museum. You can also see some of the cars we've actually had the chance to review here on Autoblog: the 1999 Honda Prelude, the 1999 Honda Civic Si, the 1985 Honda CRX Si, and a handful of others.  According to Carl Pulley, who is the steward of the collection, the cars on display are just a taste of what is actually available since space was limited within the Collection Hall that's adjacent to HQ's primary lobby. He'll be able to swap different cars in or adopt a theme such as prominent examples from Honda's motorsports endeavors. Indeed, it isn't just Honda and Acura road cars -- we're just focusing on those because, you know, Autoblog. There are race cars, noteworthy motorcycles and even power equipment such as marine engines, generators and weed whackers.  While most car companies have a collection stored someplace, this one will actually be open to the public on a limited but regular basis. There will be scheduled "Cars, Bikes & Coffee" events hosted at the Collection Hall where people are invited to drive or ride their own piece of Honda history (all makes and eras are still welcome) to show off in Honda HQ's vast parking lot and come inside to check out the Collection Hall.

Honda to import Euro market Civic hatch to America

Thu, Mar 19 2015

If you look at the Civic sedan Honda offers in America and look longingly at the hatchback version it sells in Europe, we've got good news. The latest word has it that the Japanese automaker will start offering the Euro-spec hatch in North America. The reason, however, may surprise you. According to Nikkei Asian Review, Honda wants to start selling the Civic hatchback in America less because it thinks that's the model Americans want, and more because it has excess capacity at its plant in the UK. Bringing it to the US would also give Honda an entry against the Volkswagen Golf and other competitors. Honda's plant in Swindon, England, is its sole assembly location in Europe, where the company's market share has dropped to a reported one percent. That doesn't mean Honda is giving up on the European market and its strong currencies, but with models like the HR-V to be manufactured in Mexico and the new Fit/Jazz to be imported from Japan, the Swindon plant doesn't have enough vehicles to produce to make use of its annual capacity of 250,000 vehicles. Producing 30,000-40,000 Civic hatchbacks each year for North America would help pick up some of the slack, but not all of it. It would also only represent a small fraction of the number of Civic sedans Honda moves here. Last year Honda sold over 325,000 Civics in America and over 336,000 the year before, making the Civic its second- or third-most popular model here after the Accord and closely positioned with the CR-V crossover. The reported number of Civic hatchbacks it would sell here wouldn't even keep up with the smaller Fit, but would far overshadow the CR-Z hybrid hatchback. The bigger question that performance enthusiasts will be asking is: What does this mean for the prospects of getting the new Type R hot hatch over here? Revealed in production form at the Geneva show earlier this month, the new Civic Type R is based on the European hatchback in question. Prior to the emergence of this report, the official line was that we wouldn't get the new performance model because its bodystyle isn't offered here altogether, and that our version would more likely be based on the sedan. If the five-door model makes its way here, though, we can't help but wonder if the Type R might not follow close behind. Reached for comment, Honda's US office didn't have anything official to add, but we'll be watching this development closely to see how it plays out. Related Video:
