See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"Cosmetically: There are light scratches on the driver's side front quarter panel, and the screw which holds the bumper assembly to that panel is broken, which causes it to stick out about a 1/2 inch. Very light scratches on rear lower bumper. Most noticeable defect is fingernail-sized paint ding in hood as shown in pictures. Mechanically, very solid, and everything works very well, with a single exception: there's a crack in the A/C line from the compressor to the radiator, which has let all the coolant leak out. My mechanic says it's a simple patch - replace the line (which is easily accessible from below) and recharge the A/C for about $300."

I've moved into the City of San Francisco, and can no longer justify having a car up there, so I'm selling my Fit.

I love the car, and it's fabulous for urban driving. Lots of space inside, and incredibly easy to park. Most car reviews use the Fit as the benchmark by which all other subcompacts are judged against, and it's appropriate.

As to this car:  I bought it as a Salvage Title in late 2008.  The car appears to have been in a low-speed front impact (most likely, hit a pole or similar), and the mechanic had to replace the radiator, the radiator bracket, the front bumper, hood, both front quarter panels, and 3 airbags.  I had it inspected by a local Honda shop, and later by a dealer, and the replacement work (especially the critical airbags) were all done exceedingly well. In particular, I've replaced a faulty side airbag (bad sensor) last year, and the factory tech at the Honda dealer looked at the others and couldn't tell they weren't original.

Mechanically, the car is fabulous, and I've not had a problem at all. There is minor wear and tear on the exterior (as noted above), but the interior is practically pristine (I just had it detailed), with two exceptions:  the rubber cover for the shifter knob (not the leather shifter stick cover) is worn, and you might want to replace it with an after-market shifter knob ($25 or so, and easy to self-install),  and the leather wrap for the steering wheel is worn. Not badly at all, but not in as nice a condition as the rest of the car.  You will need to have a mechanic fix the A/C coolant line and recharge it before the A/C will work, which is about $300.

All four tires are quite new, 50000 milers with under 10000 on them. I'm including an extra one, which has more wear on it (I had to replace a flat at about 30k miles, and then replaced all 4 again at 40k miles).  It has a brand new battery (less than 1 month old).

Other basic details:

It's a standard-transmission Sport Model, with no add ons or anything different. It comes with driver/passenger rubber well mats. The rear headrests are included, just not shown in the pictures. Also included is a good-quality, NEW, full car cover.

With my driving, it gets about 33mpg combined.

Honda thumbs nose at fleet sales, claims it leads in key vehicle segments

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Fleet sales are a way of life in the automotive industry. There are many non-retail customers that need vehicles, but going too far can reduce brand image and vehicle resale value. While some of its competitors have fleet sale that account for up to 20 or 30 of overall sales, Honda is bragging that it has the lowest fleet sales of all mainstream automakers for the first five months of 2013.
After calculating new-car registration data from R.L. Polk, Honda says that just two percent of its sales through went to fleet customers compared to an industry average of 19 percent. Even though this means Honda leaves plenty of sales on the table each month, it also claims to have the highest resale value and lowest cost of ownership among its competitors. In terms of retail sales, Honda says that the Civic, Accord, CR-V and Odyssey all lead their respective segments, and it breaks down/brags about its retail sales success in the press release, which is posted below.

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid [w/video]

Delivering On Promises
The 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid should surprise no one. Its look is something we've seen since the non-hybrid versions went on sale last year. Its powertrain, mostly, we are familiar with from the already-on-sale Accord Plug-In model. And the overall vibe of the car? Well, it's an Accord, which has been a strong seller in the US for three decades, so much so that there's a very good chance you've been in one at some point, whether you noticed or not.
Honda's first attempt at an Accord Hybrid, released in 2005, put dynamic performance first, but it didn't match the public's maturing perception of what a hybrid is all about: fuel economy. The 2005 version was capable of a measly 28 miles per gallon combined, 25 in the city and 33 on the highway. Remember those numbers, and that the first-generation Accord Hybrid lasted all of three model years before being axed.

Honda to field this awesome Civic Tourer wagon in BTCC next season

Tue, 03 Dec 2013

We all know that the letters BTCC stand for British Touring Car Championship. But one of those Cs might as well stand for Civic, so dominant has the Honda team been in one of the most competitive tin-top racing series in the world. Honda has taken the manufacturers' and teams' titles in the BTCC for the past four years running, and the championship-winning drivers for the past three years have claimed the prize behind the wheel of a Civic. While that might have proven enough for any other manufacturer, Honda is returning again next season to defend its dominant position, and has just revealed the new car with which it intends to do so.
Next year Honda will be back on the grid with another Civic, only this time it's based on the new Euro-spec Civic Tourer. That will make Honda the only team in the BTCC (and one of only a few worldwide) fielding a wagon-based racing car. In announcing the new BTCC-spec Civic Tourer, the Honda Yuasa Racing team only released this one photo and didn't reveal much in the way of details, but team manager Peter Crolla indicated that "the weight, wheelbase, layout and suspension remain the same" as the hatchback which it will replace, only with a longer roofline.
Testing of the new touring wagon will commence in January before returning champions Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal will pilot the new Civic Tourer in the season opener at Brands Hatch in the UK in late March. It remains to be seen what car Andrew Jordan (who took the title this year in another Civic with the Pirtek Racing team) will be driving next season, but in the meantime, you can check out the full press release below for more.
