UP FOR SALE IS OUR 2004 HONDA ELEMENT EX.  WE HAVE MOVED CROSS COUNTRY AND NEEDED A PICKUP TRUCK FOR OUR BUSINESS-- SADLY THE ELEMENT MUST GO.

THIS ELEMENT HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND RUNS LIKE A DREAM.
IN THE PAST YEAR BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED, THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED AND FOUR NEW TIRES WERE PURCHASED.  THIS CAR DRIVES TRUE TO FORM SO THE TIRES ARE WEARING EVENLY WITH APPROXIMATELY 50-60% OF THEIR TREAD REMAINING.

THE ELEMENT IS RUST FREE AND HAS NO VISIBLE DENTS OR DINGS ON THE BODY.  THE REAR BUMPER DOES HAVE MINIMAL DAMAGE WHICH CAN BE VIEWED IN THE PICTURES WE'VE SUPPLIED.  THE INTERIOR IS IN GOOD SHAPE-- HOWEVER THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS A RIP AND THE GLOVE BOX NEEDS A BIT OF AN ADJUSTMENT TO OPEN AND CLOSE MORE SMOOTHLY.  EACH OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED ITEMS CAN BE VIEWED IN THE SUPPLIED PICTURES.

THE GREAT THING ABOUT AN ELEMENT IS YOU ARE ABLE TO DRIVE AN ATTRACTIVE VEHICLE YET IT CAN TOW A TRAILER, BE TOWED BEHIND AN RV (WE TOWED THE ELEMENT BEHIND OUR RV USING THE BLUE OX TOW SYSTEM), IT ACTS AS AN SUV WITH THE AWD (4WD) AND BECAUSE THE REAR SEATS CAN EITHER LAY FLAT OR BE REMOVED, YOU CAN CARRY QUITE A BIT OF CARGO.  THE ELEMENT IS A VERY VERSATILE VEHICLE THAT HAS EXCELLENT GAS MILEAGE.  BEST OF ALL, IT'S A HONDA AND WE ALL KNOW HOW LONG A HONDA LASTS.  THE FLOOR BOARDS PROBABLY NEED A GOOD CLEANING AS OUR MOVE WAS VERY CHAOTIC AND WE DIDN'T GET TO DETAIL IT OUT AS MUCH AS WE WANTED-- YET ANOTHER GREAT FEATURE OF THE ELEMENT... YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH HOSE IT OUT!!

If we were to mechanically quantify the Element by Kelley Blue Book, we would say it's in VERY good condition.  If we were to quantify it based on cosmetic appearance we would rate it good (due to above mentioned issues).
I would feel comfortable selling this car to my Missionary Grandmother!

IF YOU RESEARCH OUR FEEDBACK, YOU WILL SEE WE SOLD OUR RV ON EBAY IN 2012 AND THE FEEDBACK FROM THE COUPLE WHO PURCHASED OUR RV WAS THAT WE WERE COMPLETELY FORTHCOMING IN OUR DESCRIPTION AND THEY WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR PURCHASE.

TERMS OF SALE AND PICK UP:

WE ARE SELLING THE CAR AS IS, THE BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKING IT UP AND OR HAVING IT SHIPPED OR DELIVERED FROM WHERE IT'S CURRENTLY SAFELY PARKED IN HINTON, WV.

THERE ARE NO HIDDEN FEES.  A DEPOSIT OF $500 IS DUE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE END OF THE AUCTION VIA PAYPAL AND FULL PAYMENT MUST BE MADE WITHIN THREE (3) DAYS AFTER THE END OF THE AUCTION.  AS WE RESIDE IN ARKANSAS AND THE ELEMENT IS IN WEST VIRGINIA, WE WOULD PREFER THE BALANCE BE PAID BY USING A BANK TO BANK WIRE TRANSFER.

AGAIN, THE CAR IS PARKED IN HINTON, WV WHERE IT WILL BE PICKED UP BY THE WINNING BIDDER.  AS SOON AS OUR BANK CONFIRMS WE HAVE RECEIVED PAYMENT IN FULL VIA A BANK WIRE, WE CAN EMAIL YOU A COPY OF THE TITLE AND OVERNIGHT THE ORIGINAL TITLE TO YOU.  THE STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA ONLY REQUIRES THE PREVIOUS OWNER TO SIGN THE TITLE OVER.  ONCE YOU RECEIVE THE TITLE, YOU ARE WELCOME TO GET TEMPORARY PLATES IN YOUR HOME STATE OR WEST VIRGINIA.  WE WILL KEEP THE ELEMENT INSURED UNTIL THE WINNING BIDDER TAKES POSSESSION, SO WE REQUEST FOR YOUR SAFETY AND OURS THAT YOU PURCHASE INSURANCE COVERAGE PRIOR TO TAKING THE CAR.

WE HAVE THE CAR LISTED LOCALLY AND RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION AT ANY TIME.

WE'VE BOTH PURCHASED AND SOLD VEHICLES VIA THE INTERNET AND KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO BE ABLE TO ASK QUESTIONS GET ALL THE NECESSARY INFORMATION.  PLEASE CALL ANYTIME.

2013 Honda Civic

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

Lather, Rinse, Repeat
On some level, it's hard to blame Honda for the strategy it took with its new-for-2012 Civic. Executives looked at the key players on the market as the model was being developed, soaked in the growing global economic malaise, and decided that if they wanted to make decent money on their small car, they'd have to find creative ways to take cost out of its build. In light of the financial crisis, consumers and critics would surely understand some belt-tightening in order to secure the company's legendary reliability, resale value and ease-of-use, right?
So Honda took a pass on expensive new technology - more complex transmissions, forced induction, active aero, and so on. And it also substituted in some cheaper interior materials, skimped on sound deadening, creature comforts and found lots of little ways to save money. Surely in a segment where the frankly ancient and moth-eaten Toyota Corolla has consistently ranked among the sales leaders, nobody would care, eh?

Why Honda of America won't fit 2014 Fit models with start/stop

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

One of the most recent yet notable additions to the modern vehicle's growing suite of fuel-saving technologies is the humble start-stop system. It's rather simple - when the vehicle is stopped, the engine shuts off. It then fires back up when the driver starts to take his foot off the brake or step on the clutch. For one of the most important fuel sippers of the year, though, start-stop tech is a no-go.
Honda will not be offering the system on the North American-spec, non-hybrid Fit despite it being a standard item on both the hybrid (pictured above) and gas-only Japanese domestic models. According to Honda, it's ostensibly due to the momentary lag, that occurs when the gas engine re-fires and power is available. The start-stop-equipped Fits "will lose at stoplights to V6s," Nobuhiko Shishido, the lead powertrain engineer for the Fit, told Automotive News. This is just an observation on our part, but unless the new Fit turns up with dramatically more than the current car's 117 horsepower, it'll "lose at stoplights" regardless of whatever fuel-saving features are fitted.
The other issue Honda sees is more realistic. In the world of the EPA, stop-start systems are not taken into account in fuel economy testing. That makes the cost-adding technology a tough sell for US consumers who are forced to take a dealer's word on real-world economy gains over the milage numbers on the window sticker. That said, wouldn't it at least make sense to offer start-stop as an option? Have your say in the Comments below.

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Acura Vigor

Wed, Apr 24 2024

Honda was the first of the Japanese car manufacturers to bring a separate luxury brand to the United States, with the (Civic-derived) Integra and (Rover-related) Legend appearing as 1986 models. By the early 1990s, Infiniti and Lexus had muscled in with their own gadget-laden luxury machines, with even Mitsubishi and Mazda offering legitimate competition for the two Acura models. Something had to be done, in the viewpoint of Soichiro Honda, and so the NSX sports car was introduced as a 1991 model, followed by the Vigor luxury sedan the following year. Here's one of those rare first-year Vigors, found in a Denver self-service boneyard recently. The idea behind the Vigor (which, like the Integra, Legend and NSX, was badged as a Honda in its homeland) was that it would squeeze in between the Integra and the Legend and steal some sales from the Lexus ES 250 as well as European machinery. The Vigor was a front-wheel-drive car, but its engine was mounted longitudinally and angled to clear the hood. The differential sat directly beneath the engine and received power via a tortured maze of shafts. The reason for all this powertrain complexity was the fact that the Vigor's engine was a SOHC straight-five that wouldn't fit the engine compartment using Honda's usual transverse mounting (though both Daewoo and Volvo managed the feat with straight-six engines later on). The U.S.-market Vigor's 2.5-liter five-banger was rated at 176 horsepower and 170 pound-feet. The base transmission was a five-speed manual, but this car has the optional $750 four-speed automatic ($1,696 in 2024 dollars). This car is the cheaper Vigor LS model, so its MSRP was $24,999 ($56,539 after inflation). You could get a slightly smaller but still feature-laden '92 Honda Accord EX for just $20,175 ($45,629 now), though, and the cushier (though less nimble) Lexus ES 250 started at just $21,300 ($48,173 in today's money). American car shoppers just couldn't figure out the Vigor, and sales were weak. 1994 was the final year for the Vigor, and the TL replaced it beginning as a 1996 model. This one drove just over 160,000 miles during its life. Don't think of it as a drive to work. Think of it as a 30-minute vacation. If you get a German luxury sedan instead of a Vigor, you'll be sorry! I miss you… S. As was nearly always the case during the 1980s and 1990s, the JDM commercials were more fun.
