1997 Honda Civic Del Sol Vtec Coupe 2-door 1.6l on 2040-cars
Santa Barbara, California, United States
Rare, low mileage, late 1997 Honda del Sol with VTEC DOHC engine in
excellent condition. Five-speed manual transmission. Targa top, stows in
the trunk.
Own a sports car without the hassle of high repair bills! I bought the car from its original owner @ 24,000 miles in 2003. It now has 88,000 miles on it. It is extremely unusual to find a Honda del Sol VTEC for sale with low miles, especially one in such good condition. To my knowledge, this car has never been in an accident, nor has it ever been driven outside the state of California. It has been meticulously maintained in full compliance with the Honda recommended maintenance schedule by Robert DiMauro in Goleta California. CarFax shows "title updated" in 2012. That was to remove my ex-husband's name from the title. This car has had only two owners: the original purchaser (1997-2003), and myself (2003 to present). Features: * Cruise control * Driver and passenger air bags * Power windows * Air conditioning * New speakers * Super cool "rear window" that goes up/down behind the seats * Surprisingly spacious trunk for a sports car * Added car alarm with kill switch * Added 6 CD changer * Newer tires The car rides low to the ground, which makes it prone to getting "rock dings" on the front end. I had the front end re-painted last year for this reason. I have an OEM "bra" which I'll give to the successful buyer. This car takes premium fuel only. Gas mileage is mid- to upper-20s or better per gallon, depending on how aggressively you drive it. Good luck with that ;-). |

Honda Civic Tourer sports forbidden facelift
Tue, 29 Jul 2014Following up on a sextet of spy photos from June, we now have another batch of images of the facelifted Euro-spec Honda Civic undergoing testing in the United Kingdom. There's a bit more sheetmetal to this particular prototype, though, as our spy photographers have caught the upcoming Tourer model (pronounced "wagon" among us Yanks).
Like the hatchback we showed you last month, the new Tourer benefits from the same set of styling tweaks inspired by the Civic Type R Concept from March's Geneva Motor Show. That means it boasts a revised front fascia, albeit with a more heavily camouflaged version of the grille shown in last month's photos. It's a similar story below, where the intakes on this long-roof model wear more disguise, yet look to be virtually identical to what we've already seen.
While the headlights still look to be a straight lift from last month's car, the more upright nature of the Tourer's tailgate demands a more subdued character. Gone are the thin, curvy LED taillights, and in their place sit significantly more substantial units (with conventional bulbs), although they boast none of the design chutzpah shown on our last round of spy photos. Our spies claim LED taillights will be available, noting that they simply aren't fitted to this particular prototype, a distinction that suggests this is a lower-end model.
Honda S660 Concept portends a new kei car for 2015
Wed, 20 Nov 2013Apart from a tiny, one-paragraph mention in a press release about the Honda show stand in general, the company hasn't said very much about its completely charming S660 Concept. The model would seem very much to be a look ahead at a possible successor to the Beat kei car for Japanese customers, though we've been told that we shouldn't expect any kind of translation or product for the American market (despite certain key executives wanting more sports cars in the US).
Honda tells us only that the S660 roadster features "advanced styling" and "new initiatives such as Super cockpit interior." We do think that the confines of the S660 look particularly driver-focused, with a carbon fiber steering wheel clad in soft leather, very racy looking vented seats and instruments tilted to keep the pilot constantly informed.
Honda President and CEO, Takanobu Ito, also touched on the S660 in his remarks at the press conference, saying that the model "embodies the freewheeling thinking of young Honda engineers, who want to make a cool car that is unique to Honda." Takanobu also said that the concept will be developed into a production model for 2015, which is great news for Japanese drivers.
Tier 1 suppliers call GM the worst OEM to work with
Mon, 12 May 2014Among automakers with a big US presence, General Motors is the worst to work for, according to a new survey from Tier 1 automotive suppliers, conducted by Planning Perspectives, Inc.
The Detroit-based manufacturer, which has been under fire following the ignition switch recall and its accompanying scandal, finished behind six other automakers with big US manufacturing operations. Suppliers had issues with trust and communications, as well as intellectual property protection. GM was also the least likely to allow suppliers to raise their prices in the face of unexpected increases in material cost, all of which contributed to 55 percent of suppliers saying their relationship with GM was "poor to very poor."
GM's cross-town competitors didn't fare much better. Chrysler finished in fifth place, ahead of GM and behind Dearborn-based Ford, which was passed for third place this year by Nissan. Toyota took the top marks, while Honda captured second place.
