1989 Honda Crx Base Coupe 2-door 1.5l on 2040-cars
Vineland, New Jersey, United States
I have listed here my personal 1989 honda CRX DX 1.5L DPFI 5spd. Im getting rid of her to fund my 69 dodge project. This car has many new parts, recent maintenance and very clean and complete interior. For the most part the car is stock, never had the motor swapped, no wiring repairs. It has ALWAYS been adult driven never ever raced (come on, its a dual point 1.5L not a race car). other than that this car has been tastefully modified.
Exterior: car has a base/clear paint job dont professionally in Milano Red PPG brand paint. no cheap paint job here! Also plenty of paint/clear on the car for a wet sand and a buff. All rust repaired properly with steel oem panels. very little filler used. it has 3 coats of clear with gold pearl. All trim has been cleaned and coated, rear window seals are new. the windows were removed before paint and the old hard gaskets replaced so no more leaks from the rear windows like most CRX's. every panel on this car is oem no certifit or body master junk here only honda. Interior: Mint seats with NO rips in the the cloth where normally the driver side bolster is torn to shreds. oem radio, all knobs, trim and all inside is there and very clean. The rear cargo cover is complete though the vertical part in the back is a little worse for wear. the rear top cargo cover is still in one piece NOT split in two like most CRX's this age. carpet is very clean, comes with CRX oem floor mats but they show their age. Windows were originally tinted but i removed it all except the rear hatch glass. it definitely helps keep the sun from beating down on the interior through that big back window. not only that i didnt want to risk damaging the rear defrosters because they still function. Drive train: Motor has been gone through and runs amazing with new timing belt, tensioner, water pump, head gasket, plugs, wires, filters, fresh oil change, batter, new clutch 6k miles ago. Ive also put in a new thermostat, random vacuum hose and lines as needed. Wheels: Rims are factory Acura Intergra wheels commonly called "blades" or "swirlies" in my area. The clear has been removed and they have been polished. They could be taken a little further but I dont want too much flash. Tires are almost new Kumho ecstas 195/50/15. Suspension: This Crx rides on Black Works Racing full coilovers, BWR rear lower control arms and Skunk2 front upper camber kit. The brakes are oem type pads but not cheapy charlie. I personally replaced the axles a little while back as one was clicking. Exhaust: 2.25" aluminized piping with a factory cat, new O2 sensor, oem resonator and a magnaflow muffler. has a very nice not ricey sound. very throaty for the engine size. I have added oem mud flaps and a factory Si lip to the car. The rears are new oem and the fronts are older but in good shape. The bumper lights and blinkers are all oem and in great shape! the carpet in the car is in very pristine shape as well. Im sure there is something I am missing. I will update it as I remember details. That all being said, this is a 25 year old car. the doors close like a brand new car and seal tight but it does have little things here and there that arent perfect. The hatch rattles a little bit over big bumps, minor scuffs on the plastic on the inside, the little tab in the glove box broke but i glued it. Its been fine ever since and you cant tell unless its pointed out. The driver side door catch has been repaired professionally and is tight and straight as the day the car was made. Like i said, little stuff here and there. The car is not perfect but this is personally the cleanest of 9 crx cars that i have owned. Is it a show car? no but damn close. It gets great gas mileage, gets a ton of looks and is done very well in my opinion. What you see is what you get. NO warranties implied car for sale as is where is. I have a clean title in hand ready to go. I will also entertain REASONABLE offers. |

Takata, Honda sued in Florida over death of pregnant Malaysian women
Mon, May 4 2015The Takata recall debacle keeps spiraling as the father of a pregnant woman killed in Malaysia allegedly due to the malfunctioning airbag has filed suit against both the equipment manufacturer and Honda in a court in Florida. The case reportedly revolves around one Law Suk Leh, 42, who was driving her 2003 Honda City on Borneo Island in Malaysia this past July. She was driving at about 20 miles per hour when her car was struck by another. Her airbag deployed with inordinate force, metal shrapnel sliced her neck and she died in the ambulance en route to the local hospital. The baby she was carrying was delivered after the mother's death, but died three days later. Now her father, Law Ngee Chiong, is suing the airbag manufacturer and the automaker on behalf of the estates of his late daughter and granddaughter in a US federal court in Miami. The suit was reportedly filed in the United States because the faulty inflator is made in LaGrange, GA. US District Judge Federico Moreno is currently evaluating about two dozen such personal-injury and death cases, including the one in question, for pretrial rulings and evidence-gathering. Leh's case is one of six deaths blamed on the defective Takata airbags, which have caused automakers and government regulators to recall an estimated 24 million vehicles around the world.
Honda reveals new Civic hatch for WTCC
Tue, 03 Dec 2013If you thought the Honda Civic Type R prototype we drove in Japan looked cool, and that the Civic Tourer that Honda will race in the British Touring Car Championship next year looks even cooler, just take a look at this.
Possibly the ultimate race-spec Civic, this is the car Honda will field next year in the World Touring Car Championship. Like the Type R prototype (but unlike the BTCC-spec wagon) the WTCC challenger takes the form of Honda's latest Euro-spec Civic five-door hatchback.
It's the car with which Honda intends to defend its title and capture the driver's title in next year's championship. It'll face a tough challenge from the new Citroën team headlined by Sebastien Loeb in the new C-Elysee, not to mention the rest of the grid. Fortunately, Honda is entering a whole mess of these Civics in the series, with former champion Gabriele Tarquini and former F1 driver Tiago Monteiro driving the works entries (hence the mixed "Gabriago" tag on the window) and another pair to be entered by privateer teams.
Honda names first woman, foreigner to its board of directors
Mon, 24 Feb 2014General Motors may have made headlines when it recently appointed the industry's first female CEO, but Honda has long lagged woefully behind the times when it comes to the diversity of its top management. In fact, its entire board has until now been composed entirely of Japanese men, with not a foreigner or a woman in sight. But as Reuters reports, that's all changing with the nominations to its latest board.
The slate of new directors named to Honda's board includes one Hideko Kunii, a gender-equality advocate and engineering professor from the Shibaura Institute of Technology. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Kunii spent the bulk of her career at Japanese electronic imaging company Ricoh. Alongside Kunii, Honda has also named Tomoko Mizoguchi to the board as responsible for the company's South American operations, making him the first foreigner to serve on the company's board of directors. (Well, almost: Mizoguchi was born in Brazil, but of Japanese ancestry.)
The appointments follow the recent switch Honda made in its official language policy from Japanese to English, signaling a shift in outlook for a company that has long stuck to traditional Japanese business models. Honda was the first of the major Japanese automakers to begin manufacturing in the United States, and has long relied on hiring local managers to run its regional operations around the world. It has, however, resisted placing foreigners on its board of directors until now, relying instead on senior male managers promoted from within its ranks to serve on its board. This in comparison to Toyota, which has seven foreigners and one woman on its 68-member board of directors, and Nissan, which has fifteen foreigners (including its chief executive) and one woman on its 58-member board.
