For sale is a 1987 Honda CRX SI in excellent condition with only 77k original miles.  It is in great mechanical condition with all components and accessories working well including the A/C.  All electronics work including the sunroof without issue.   The exterior is in great shape having been repainted its original red color last year but does have a few scratches/blemishes which are hard to see; certainly WELL above average for a 27 year old car.    The most notable exterior flaw is a slightly wavy rear bumper cover which is the result of the previous owner backing into a parking lot bollard, but since there were no marks left on the bumper, it was not replaced.  The interior is in absolutely remarkable condition with almost no signs of wear.  The Si spec original engine is strong, revs well and neither burns nor leaks any oil.  The same is true for the smooth shifting 5 speed manual transmission.

In the last year, we have replaced the tires (less than 1,000 miles on them), changed the accessory belts, changed all the fluids, and regularly had the car buffed and waxed.  The battery and exhaust were replaced in 2011.  A new stereo with iPod/Bluetooth/CD player is about the only upgrade to the car from stock but the original working am/fm cassette player is included as is the original sales brochure from 1987.  This is my second Gen 1 Si and I love how nimble and sporty they are.  They offer zippy performance, lots of storage, long term reliability, and excellent fuel economy.  This particular CRX is one of the cleanest and low mileage ones I have ever seen and needs absolutely nothing to enjoy for years and miles to come.   These Honda engines last well past 200k miles and with only 77k, this one is a great find.

I will assist in the coordination of shipping but all costs are assumed by the buyer.  A $500 deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction ending.  Final payment is required within 7 days or the sale will be voided and a complaint filed with eBay.  Please email any questions.

NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.

Honda already working on NSX roadster

Mon, 25 Nov 2013

Honda doesn't do many convertibles. There was the original Sports 360, the Civic del Sol, the S2000 and the Beat. But so far, that's pretty much it. The previous NSX was offered with a targa-style top, but the latest reports indicate that the Japanese automaker is already working on a proper convertible version of the new NSX, to be sold once again as an Acura in North America and a Honda in other markets.
Although it's not yet known whether the NSX roadster will offer a hard or soft top, sources indicate that it won't be a mere removable roof panel. Whatever form it does take, however, expect it to arrive a good couple of years after the tin-top version launches in 2015 with a similar form to the concept but with different underpinnings and a radical interior.

This is the ad that never ends

Wed, Apr 8 2015

Hondas pretty much last forever, and that's exactly the message the Japanese automaker wants to convey in this latest ad for the 2015 CR-V. It's called Endless Road, created by McGarryBowen in London, and it shows the new midsize crossover driving in a hypnotic, infinite loop. According to AdWeek, this endless road is supposed to convey Honda's never-ending quest to create the best, most advanced CR-V possible. You can see a shortened, embeddable version of the ad above, but what's really cool is the interactive portion that's only available on Honda's YouTube channel. It uses real-time weather data to show the CR-V infinitely driving through day or night, depending on what's happening in your specific part of the world. AdWeek has an interview with McGarryBowen's executive creative director, Angus Macadam, about the new spot, as well as a behind-the-scenes, making-of video, which we've embedded below.
