2016 Honda Civic pricing leaked, starts at $19,475
Sat, Oct 17 2015You're going to get a whole load of 2016 Honda Civic information very, very soon. As a teaser, take a look at this pricing information on Honda's latest compact sedan, leaked by the folks at the civicx.com forums. As you can see, both invoice and retail pricing is included in this dealer ordering guide, and, assuming it's all legit, it looks like Honda has done a very good job of keeping its 2016 Civic competitive with its rivals in the compact segment. At the low end, a 2016 Civic LX with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed manual transmission will cost $19,475 (including an $835 destination fee). That's a $150 increase from 2015. Considering that the new car is larger and more powerful than it was last year, that small additional cost initially strikes us as reasonable. If you want an automatic, in this case a continuously variable unit paired to that same naturally aspirated base engine, you're looking at a minimum of $20,275. More good news comes in the form of the EX trim, which, at $21,875, is actually a little bit less than it was last year. Upgrading to the 1.5-liter turbocharged powerplant, which Honda promises will be the most powerful engine it has ever offered in a Civic not labeled Si, brings the asking price to $23,035. If you want leather and more bells and whistles, the Civic EX-L will start at $24,535. The Civic range tops out at $27,335 in Touring trim, assuming these leaked prices are accurate. We'll be able to confirm these prices, along with a whole heck of a lot more, on Monday morning. In other words, Civic fans, stay tuned. And get excited. Is Acura working on a premium minivan?
Mon, 10 Nov 2014Here's a vehicle that nobody saw coming. Unless Honda/Acura is keen to play tricks on us, our spy shooters recently caught what appears to be an Acura minivan fully camouflaged for testing on some back roads on a rainy day.
Details on the disguised minivan are rather scarce, but it certainly bares all the hallmarks of an Acura. The front grille alone gives it away with a look that mimics the latest MDX, and note that the orientation of the rear door handle heavily suggests that it slides to open. Moving inside, the tester appears to borrow some tech from the luxury brand's parts bin too, and the Acura logo seems to be covered in tape right in the middle of the steering wheel.
Mechanically, our spies believe that the production version of Acura's minivan might borrow the brand's V6, nine-speed automatic and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive - a similar layout to some trims of the TLX. The photographers also think that the vehicle is a little wider than the current Honda Odyssey to give occupants a bit more room. Given the more luxurious focus, the high-end model would surely carry seven people with a bit more opulence than the standard Odyssey, especially, we'd imagine, for second-row passengers. A launch for this posh hauler could be slated for the 2016 or 2017 model years.
Driver saved from sinking car in Houston by live news reporter
Mon, Apr 18 2016Heavy rains in Houston, Texas, have turned some roadway underpasses into temporary lakes. While covering the adverse weather, a reporter named Steve Campion engaged in what may be the most half-hearted rescue attempt ever captured on video. The whole clip is a slow-motion disaster that's hard to look away from. The reporter and a cameraman are already on the scene when a driver in a Honda Insight arrives and thinks he can ford the deluge. The plan fails immediately, and the car is quickly in too deep. Despite trying to reverse out of the bad situation and even turning on the windshield wipers, this guy is stuck. Floating, in fact. Campion doesn't even try to hide his contempt and confusion as this unfolds in front of him. "Why are you doing that," the journalist initially asks. He and the cameraman don't leap to action at this scene, either. "What do we do? I don't want to..." the reporter says. The Insight driver seems to be in shock, seemingly unable to process the situation even as his vehicle is sinking. Eventually, the reporter and cameraman convince the guy to leave his vehicle. By the time the driver gets to dry land, his Honda is barely visible above the water. The Honda owner seems unharmed, but the reporter probably doesn't deserve much credit for the rescue, regardless of how it's portrayed on KTRK in Houston. See if you agree after watching the video.
