1998 red Honda Civic. As Is.

Salvage title vehicle. The damage was to the rear end of the vehicle.
It was repaired in 2000 when it was purchased.
187,249 actual miles. Automatic. Grey charcoal-colored interior. Power windows and door locks.
Tinted windows and sunroof. Front tires very good. Back tires fair to good.

There are some scrapes on the lower portion of the driver's door. There is also a
quarter-sized ping in a side panel on the driver's side too.

Also, there is slight collision damage to front bumper and back window molding
needs to be glued into place.

Note: The car starts fine. It runs good, but after driving it several miles it sometimes has
difficulty restarting (when it's hot). Rather than saying what it might be, I've chosen
to classify it as undetermined engine problems. Mechanics has speculated it may be
radiator-related as it seems to overheat. A friend told me it may be the head gasket.
Another suggested it might be the fuel pump. If I knew what was wrong, I'd fix it.
This is why I'm offering it for you to bid on AS IS.

Honda exec says US market near capacity, could hurt subprime buyers

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

Is there a point in the US auto industry where companies should start considering the welfare of their customers ahead of selling more cars? American Honda Executive Vice President of Sales John Mendel thinks that level exists, and we may be getting very close to it.
According to Automotive News, Mendel believes that finding more customers in the market could require pursuing subprime buyers and offering longer-term loans. However, he refuses to use those tactics. While selling models this way can improve things briefly, the strategies hurt resale prices and lower vehicle profits over time. The company won't do "stupid things in the short-term that damage the person who bought yesterday," he said to Automotive News. "It's a very, very short-term tactic especially in the subprime area."
American Honda, which combines the Acura and Honda brands, has seen market share decline from 9.7 percent to 9.1 percent through July 2014, according to Automotive News, and Autoblog's By the Numbers stats showed it posted falling sales in five of the seven months with data this year. Though, Mendel claims that was partially because the company focused on retail sales over fleets. The delays of the launches for the Honda Fit and Acura TLX likely didn't help either.

In 2014, living with a hydrogen car is fun, challenging

Sun, Jan 19 2014

Read his lips: more hydrogen stations, please. That's the crux of the commentary from a Southern California gentleman who's been tooling around in a Honda FCX Clarity hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle since 2005. Jon Spallino, the first "retail customer" to lease the Clarity, tells The Wall Street Journal that he enjoys "everything about the car," including the peppy acceleration from the car's electric powertrain. The added bonus, of course, is the fact that the car's emissions are nothing more than water vapor. He pays $600 a month to lease the car, including the hydrogen refueling costs, and says he can go about 230 miles on a full tank. The flipside is the paucity in hydrogen refueling stations, which is understandable considering that they cost an estimated couple million dollars a pop to open. It's no accident that Spallino is one of the early hydrogen drivers, though, since there are eight public refueling stations in Southern California (and one in Northern California), more than any other state, according to US Department of Energy records. The only other public station is in South Carolina, so road trips are tough. Spallino, a resident of Redondo Beach, joins higher-profile folks such as actress Jamie Lee Curtis and former pro hockey player Scott Niedermayer among those who've gotten the opportunity to lease the super-low-volume fuel-cell vehicle. How low? Honda leased out 10 of them last year and just five in 2012. You can read more of Spallino's hydrogen-powered thoughts here.
