To begin with, I am the second owner.  I have had this car for 12 years now.  It is still currently my daily driver, so miles can go up.  It has 251,000 miles and another 250,000 or more to go.  Under hood it has a cold air intake and a strut bar.   It has a xenon polyurethane body kit and 17 inch proline alloy gunmetal rims.  It has Fast and Furious front lights and Led back lights with matching painted trim rings.  It has a kenwood receiver with usb port.   Considered antique now there is a system that is still 90% functional from 1996.  It has two 10 inch subs, one working , one 600 watt amp(custom stainless steel chromed covers on subs and amp in back of seat, subs are in one of 5 custom fiberglass enclosures, 2 equalizers and 4 of 8 fuses with a capacitor are in a custom painted fiberglass tub with original spare in the trunk.  It has the third eq in the right back seat with a hidden cover.  There is a volt meter where the ash tray was and bass and treble control knobs under the e-brake.  The trunk was only raised 2 inches.  It has shaved fiberglass around the custom tub and the amp in back seat and trunk with blue neons accenting it.  It has an audiovox alarm system with windows and sunroof options.  I can also call the car with a code and command certain actions, including stolen car  It is set up for Sirius satellite radio, needs antenna and a credit/debit card . It has a 7 inch touchscreen t.v and a ps one.  It was the x-tant sponsor civic in several shows in the late 90's, was in car sound, security, and performance magazine with 3 pages in the late 90's.  It was invited but never gone to the IASCA world nationals twice, I have the invites.   I have the magazine and build book on vehicle.  System in the 90's with labor was over 14,000.00  The oil has been changed at least every 3000 miles and every necessary tune up needed has been done.  The V-tech engine has been rebuilt within this past year with less than 3000 miles on it.  New piston rings, honed cylinders, all new engine seals, and a slightly shaved engine head, still all original.  It also has within the past year: all new dayco drive belts and timing belt, new engine mounts,(all 4,) new lifetime warranty alternator and starter, new radiator 5 new coolant hoses, new high quality trans fluid, new asian coolant, new battery, new speed sensor, ceramix front brake pads, two brand new tires and 2 with medium tread, and a new master cylinder( I have over 2500.00 in receipts for past year and over 15,000 from life of vehicle.  The paint job should last quite longer than my own home.  Even the underside of the hood is painted and clearcoated.  It was fully sanded with glass out, then resealed and retinted glass of course, then 2 coats of 250.00 a gallon black base, body kit parts painted the same way separately. second coat had blue pearl, then 3 coats of clearcoat.  It was the last full vehicle that my very trusted body man of 30 years experience done before disability.  Oh, the negatives: air conditioning is cool but not ice cold, but heat works great.  It has some slightly visible door dings and has barely visible (up close) hail damage, no rust that I or anybody knows of..  Pics are obvious and recent.  I will accept cash only.  Cash means you can be the new king/queen of this car.  Sold as-is and buyer is responsible of shipping or pickup after funds are received. No reserve and happy bidding.  If you have any questions please feel free to ask.  No"accidental" bidding please.

Nine cars we wish were convertibles

Thu, Apr 16 2015

The snow has melted, the sun is shining, and the days are getting longer. At the Autoblog Detroit office we feel like our winter hibernation is finally over. And with warmer temperatures come visions of opening up a convertible roof and cruising. You know, just turn up the bass and let the Alpine blast. There are plenty of droptops on sale in the US, and more on the way (like the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata). That said, we always want more. More! More! More! In that spirit, we cooked up a list of nine cars aren't currently sold as convertible, but ought to be. Check out our picks, below. Summer's just around the corner. Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S In some parallel universe, this car actually happened. Toyota showed us a FT 86 Convertible concept at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013, and we immediately started licking our chops over the thought of a rear-wheel-drive convertible based on the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S twins. These days, the MX-5 Miata is our only option for affordable roadster fun. A competitor to the Mazda seems like a no-brainer to us, especially since we have naught but good to say about the BRZ/FR-S as-is. Unfortunately in our present timeline, this car is as likely for production as a BRZ STI. Which is to say, not very. Dang. Lexus RC F Unlike the FR-S, a convertible from Toyota's luxury division might actually see the light of day. The current IS convertible is about to be phased out, and the Lexus LF-C2 concept from the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show is really a thinly veiled look at a possible RC convertible. A droptop RC would be plenty good, but let's reach for the starts. What we really want is to run topless in an RC F, complete with that powerful, loud, 5.0-liter V8 engine. Lexus says the RC F is a true competitor to the BMW M4. If that's true, it only makes sense for Lexus to mimic the Germans and offer its performance coupe in a folding hardtop form. Maybach Landaulet Maybach is bach back, recast as an upper crust trim level for Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-Maybach S600 is seriously awesome, and more luxurious than a trip to the spa. But why not go a step into the truly ridiculous levels of extravagence and bring back that open-top Landaulet? We think your local princess will love this idea, and with better S-Class bones underneath, Jeeves will have a pretty enjoyable ship to steer, too. Besides, with that slick new Mercedes design language, a Landaulet redux wouldn't be nearly as hideous as the old model, pictured here.

Honda fined $70 million for failing to report deaths, injuries

Thu, Jan 8 2015

The federal agency charged with keeping US motorists safe announced Thursday it has fined Honda $70 million for failing to report death and injury data in a timely manner. Honda failed to report 1,729 incidents involving death or injury over an 11-year period, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration officials. Federal law requires automakers to report deaths, injuries and certain warranty claims. Officials said Thursday that information could have been used to spot trends in automotive defects and potentially save lives. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said it is possible the Department of Justice could conduct a criminal investigation into the failures, but it was not immediately known whether the Justice Department would pursue such charges. NHTSA officials still don't know much about the 1,729 incidents of death or injury that were missing from the Early Warning Reporting records, because in some cases, they still haven't been reported. Mark Rosekind, the agency's new administrator, said Honda is still in the process of sending investigators the missing information. "Our first task will be to review that, and determine actual deaths and injuries," he said. "That data is in the process of coming to us and being processed right now." The $70 million is the largest civil penalty levied against an automaker in history, officials said. It actually consists of two $35 million penalties, the maximum allowed by statute for a single TREAD Act violation. In this case, NHTSA broke the fine into separate violations, one for the missing deaths and injury information and one for the company's failure to report certain warranty-claim information. Honda reached an agreement with the federal government in late December, in which it accepted additional regulatory oversight and third-party audits that will ensure reporting is properly completed in the future.
