For Sale:
Flat black 1990 Honda Civic DX Hatchback. The car has 203,000 miles on the chassis with a recently swapped engine. The engine is a D16a8 DOCH (Euro ZC with 40 hp more than the stock d15b2 engine), which had 40,000 miles on it when it was installed in June 2012.  I've put about 10,000 miles on the car since then. The car interior could use some work.  But replacing the carpet and seats is simple and inexpensive. And the car itself runs great with the following upgrades:

D16A8 Engine PM7 ECU

Tokico Illumina 5 point adjustable shocks
Neuspeed Sport springs
front swaybar
Energy Suspension bushings master kit installed
Energy Suspension engine mount inserts (not installed but will be included)
Skunk2 short throw shifter
AEM short ram intake = more hp
Megan Racing 4-2-1 exhaust header = more hp  (I still have the stock header, and will include it)
High flow catalytic converter = more hp
Straight pipe replacement for the catalytic converter (Adds more hp.  It's not currently installed.  But I'll include it)
Tsudo N1 catback exhaust = more hp (very robust sounding)
New Battery
1991 CRX Si wheels
Front disc brakes (lots of pad left)
New brake shoes in the rear
New brake power booster

I bought the car a year and a half ago as a project car.  The car is flat out quick and agile.  It's a blast to drive. And it still averages around 30-33 mpg.  I was building the car up to add a supercharger. But I have a new baby now and the state of CA (unlike the rest of the country) won't let me register the car with the D16A8 engine, so it's got to go :(.

One man's love of vintage Honda motorcycles spawns new museum

Mon, Jan 19 2015

In 1977, David Silver got a Honda SS50 moped - it was the last year of unrestricted mopeds for riders just 16 years of age in the UK. That two-wheeler made him a fan, and starting his Honda parts business in 1986 made him a part of the Honda family. He started collecting, with the idea that he'd eventually open a museum. During a visit to another amateur collector's trove in Pennsylvania, the Brit got the chance to purchase the 125 bikes the American had gathered, and his museum aspirations hit the fast-forward button. He's in the process of building a proper home for the bikes in Suffolk, it should open later this year. There will be everything from the first Cub F engine that people could attach to bicycles in 1952, to two examples of the CB92 Benly Super Sport that showed how fast and how good a 125cc bike could be, to the first Fireblade that dropped in 1992 - our CBR 900RR, to the original Honda Dream. Honda says it could be one of the finest collections outside the company's museum in Japan. You can watch Silver tell his story in the video above, and there's more on what's he'll have in an article in Honda's Dream magazine. Is the original Acura NSX a perfect supercar?

Fri, Nov 20 2015

The long-awaited arrival of the second coming of the Acura NSX has naturally brought with it many deep retrospectives on the first Acura NSX. Xcar is the latest with a stint in the time capsule, lining up three NSXs to sample at a track in the UK. There's the red wonder that started it all, the standard aluminum-bodied car that went on sale in 1990, so simple and easy-to-drive, extracting more joy than many thought possible from a 3.0-liter V6 with 'just' 270 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. The 25-year-old exotic shows its years, but mostly because of an automatic transmission that dampens throttle response and doesn't like changing gears. The praises it earned in the day, however, still remain, namely excellent steering, handling, and feedback. After that comes laps in the first NSX Type R, the model that lost more than 250 pounds by having no air conditioning, sound deadening, or stereo, and lightweight tweaks like carbon seats and thinner glass. Although it the tuning makes it much harder, the presenter wants to know, "Why isn't Honda making a car like this today?" Then there's the 2002 model, the one that would only last three years before closing the door on a fifteen-year run. It got better at the same time as it got softer, but by then the NSX had nothing left to prove; it hit every one of its targets, it realigned the segment in ways we're still benefiting from, and for at least half of its run nothing else could touch it. Based on the reviews so far, that might include the brand new, very good and very complicated NSX. Check out the video above for Xcar's take. Honda squeezes in 9 Fit customs at SEMA

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Honda is displaying a heap of customized Fit hatchbacks at this week's SEMA in Las Vegas. Nine of the modded little econoboxes are on the floor showing off wildly divergent takes on the Japanese automaker's most affordable offering. The company has reason to celebrate the new vehicle, too, because it's been dubbed this year's "Hottest Sport Compact" award at the event.
Six of the custom Fits come from a contest that Honda ran online challenging various tuners to come up with their own take on the new model. People could then follow along online as Tjin Edition, Bisimoto Engineering, Kontrabrands, MAD Industries, Spoon Sports USA and Kenny Vinces worked on the cars. In the end, the version from Tjin (pictured above) with its subdued green paint, huge fender flares and ground-hugging stance was named the fan favorite.
In addition to those cars, Honda also has three other modded Fits on display. Honda Performance Development is showing off one in full B-spec racer trim, Honda Genuine Accessories has an example displaying all of its dealer-installed parts, and there's another model tuned by Bisimoto, as well.
