2009 Honda Accord EX -- 8,000 original miles!!

Now, let me tell you a little about Grandma (the original owner) -- she LOVED the feel of the open road...and also an occasional parking lot pylon...and curbs (lots of curbs). Suffice it to say that Grandma was not the best driver, but she was meticulous with the care of her Honda. Unfortunately, Grandma passed away earlier this month and it's time we find it a new owner. At just a touch over 8,000 miles, the car is mechanically perfect with a perfect interior and a slightly bruised-up exterior. Mechanical

The car is basically new and has zero mechanical issues (no leaks, no strange noises, drives perfect, etc.) Oil was just changed and everything checked out when we took it to the dealer. There's really not much else to say -- it's a new car!

Exterior

As mentioned, Grandma kinda sucked at driving. Luckily, no major damage was done to the car and I've taken detailed pictures of all the little bumps and bruises. Summary of damage: The front and rear bumpers have various scratches, all four rims have curb rash, and both lower sill panels have scrapes.

Interior

The interior is perfect and even smells new. The factory instruction sticker is still on the radio display and we have all paperwork (including the original window sticker).

NHTSA investigating 343,000 Honda Odyssey minivans

The recall bug could strike Honda again as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened another investigation concerning the Odyssey minivan. Honda has already recalled 59,000 Odysseys from the 2012 and 2013 model years due to a shift interlock issue, and another 320,000 of the minivans from 2003-04 are being investigated for faulty airbags. Now, TheDetroitBureau.com is reporting that NHTSA is taking a look at the 2007-08 Odyssey for a problem associated with the brakes.
This investigation reportedly includes 343,000 Odysseys that could be suffering from an unexpected application of the brakes. According to the article, at least 22 people have reported such an issue, and in five cases, dealers found a trouble code associated with the steering angle sensor - part of the anti-lock brake and stability control systems. There is still no indication as to whether or not this will become a recall, but Honda has already recalled more than 1.8 million units this year.

Since I'm supposed to know something about cars, it happens all the time: friends and relatives ask me advice about what kind of vehicle they should get. Very often, the only type of vehicle that can check every item on their wish list (e.g., hauls lots of people and stuff, gets good fuel economy, has great crash-test ratings, can take four Great Danes camping, and so on) is a modern minivan... and, of course, nobody wants to hear this. I'm not a minivan person, they will wail, and so they end up with a cramped, fuel-swilling SUV or a not-so-space-efficient minivan-in-disguise CUV. So, is it worth becoming one of those minivan people in order to get the incredible usefulness of these masterpieces of vehicle engineering, or do you hold your head high and drive something that doesn't quite meet your needs?
