********** 2004 HONDA S2000 **********

HONDA’S HIGH-PERFORMANCE TWO-PASSENGER S2000 ROADSTER GETS A LARGER ENGINE FOR THE 2004 MODEL YEAR. THE NEW 2.2-LITER FOUR-CYLINDER GENERATES THE SAME 240 HORSEPOWER AS ITS 2.0-LITER PREDECESSOR, BUT TORQUE OUTPUT HAS GROWN FROM 153 TO 162 POUNDS-FEET. THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS, HEADLIGHTS AND LED TAILLIGHTS HAVE BEEN RESTYLED. MODIFICATIONS WERE MADE TO THE SUSPENSION TUNING AND TRANSMISSION GEARING, AND 17-INCH TIRES REPLACE THE PREVIOUS 16-INCHERS. EVER SINCE THE S2000 WENT ON SALE AS A 2000 MODEL, IT’S BEEN IN SHORT SUPPLY. COMPETING AGAINST THE AUDI TT, BMW Z3 AND Z4, NISSAN 350Z AND PORSCHE BOXSTER, HONDA’S FIRST REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE CAR PACKS A HIGH-REVVING FOUR-CYLINDER ENGINE. AS A RESULT, THE S2000 FEELS MORE LIKE A RACECAR THAN A REGULAR SPORTS CAR. HONDA’S NEW 240-HP, 2.2-LITER, DUAL-OVERHEAD-CAM FOUR-CYLINDER VTEC ENGINE CAN REV AS HIGH AS 9,000 RPM — A LIMIT FAR BEYOND THE REACH OF MOST CARS. NOW YIELDING 162 POUNDS-FEET OF TORQUE AT 6,500 RPM, THE ENGINE MATES WITH A SIX-SPEED-MANUAL TRANSMISSION. HONDA CLAIMS THE S2000 CAN ACCELERATE FROM ZERO TO 60 MPH IN LESS THAN 6 SECONDS. SIMPLY PUT, THE S2000 IS A HOT NUMBER. RAZOR-SHARP STEERING, DISCIPLINED HANDLING AND ATHLETIC CORNERING ABILITY BLEND WITH EXCELLENT BRAKING PERFORMANCE TO PRODUCE A DRIVING EXPERIENCE THAT APPROACHES RACECAR LEVELS.

YOU’LL NEED TO PRESS THE RED STARTER BUTTON TO FIRE UP THE POTENT FOUR-CYLINDER. AT FULL THROTTLE, YOU’LL HEAR A DEEP, AGGRESSIVE GROWL FROM THE ENGINE. ONCE IT REACHES APPROXIMATELY 5,000 RPM, THE S2000 LUNGES FORWARD LIKE A ROCKET.

Honda issues second Fit window recall, this time for 143k units

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Honda has announced it is recalling certain 2007-2008 Fit models in the US to fix what could have been faulty repairs made in a previous round of recalls. The vehicles may have been manufactured with a master driver's window switch that could allow rain water or spilled liquids into the switch. If that happens, the liquids could cause the switch to overheat, melt and potentially damage the vehicle's wiring or cause a fire. Honda says no accidents or injuries have been reported due to the problem, but warns owners to park their Fit hatchbacks outside until a dealer can inspect the switch.
All told, the recall covers 143,083 Fit units. Back in 2010, Honda recalled the 2002-2008 model-year Fit for the same issue. That recall covered some 646,000 units worldwide after a two-year-old child in Cape Town, South Africa burnt to death while sleeping in a Fit. Honda says the repair made during that round of recalls may not have been sufficient, and the latest fix should take care of the problem for good.
You can read the full press release on the latest round of recalls below for more information.

Is Fernando Alonso preparing to sit out 2016?

Mon, Nov 30 2015

Things have not been going well for Fernando Alonso since moving to McLaren. In fact they've been going so poorly that the Spanish driver may end up sitting out next season if things don't improve. At least those are the rumors presently occupying the Formula One paddock. The notion was first raised by McLaren chief Ron Dennis. When asked by reporters about Alonso's near-term future with the team, Dennis said, "I have an open mind to anything, and some of the ideas have involved those sorts of considerations, yes, sabbatical years etcetera." Though far from confirmed, the basic idea would be to see how next year's car performs in pre-season testing, and if it's not up to spec, Alonso could end up sitting out a season while McLaren and Honda get their partnership up to speed, so to speak. Alonso appeared to be puzzled by the prospect his boss raised, but couldn't rule it out, either. It would be a rather unprecedented move, but could end up avoiding some frustrations as the Anglo-Japanese teething process works itself out with time. Alonso has been a constant on the grid since 2003, missing only two grands prix in thirteen seasons: the 2005 United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis when all the Michelin-equipped teams sat out the race in protest, and the Australian Grand Prix at the beginning of this year, when Alonso was still recovering from a crash in pre-season testing. Out of 254 grands prix contested to date, Fernando has landed on the podium 97 times, including 32 wins and two world championships. This season, however, he's only finished in the points once, with his fifth-place finish in Hungary. Of the eighteen races he contested this year, his car failed to get him to the finish line altogether at seven. His seventeenth place in the final standings for the season are the worst he's done since his debut in 2001 with Minardi (the team now known as Toro Rosso). Honda to lead Rose Parade with hybrid tech

Thu, Dec 6 2018

What are you doing New Year's Day? We're probably going to watch Urban Meyer's retirement bash the Rose Bowl, but we love a nice parade, too. To kick the day off, Honda will be leading the 130th Rose Parade with its own float, an Insight hybrid and an Acura RDX crossover. Not only will Honda be celebrating the new year, it'll also celebrate its 60th anniversary in the U.S. As such, the main float will be shaped like a 25-foot-tall birthday cake. And 60 band members from the historically black colleges and universities' marching bands — which recently took part in a battle of the bands sponsored by Honda — will represent the candles on the cake. It'll also be decorated to re-create the look of the automaker's first storefront in Los Angeles. The float will be called "Celebration of Dreams," a fitting title for a company whose founder Soichiro Honda famously said, "The day I stop dreaming is the day I die." (The first thing you see when entering the amazing Honda Collection Hall at Twin Ring Motegi is a large, circular glass sculpture with the word "Dream" and Soichiro Honda's signature). For the parade, the Honda Insight will serve as the official pace car, while the Acura RDX will play the role of sound car. The float itself will be propelled by a modified Honda hybrid powertrain. The main float will be flanked by five "satellite" floats, each representing facets of the company. These will include a Honda Super Cub motorbike; a floral representation of a 1975 Civic CVCC; a float with crash test dummies and an arch with five stars to represent safety; a Honda Accord, which is built in the U.S.; and a float incorporating elements from the HondaJet to represent the future. The Rose Parade broadcast begins bright and early at 8 a.m. Pacific on Jan. 1. Check out the rendering at the top of the page to get a sense of what to expect. Related Video:
