Perfect maintenance including multiple valve adjustments and timing if you know about S2000s they need to always be perfect to get the best performance. Never any modifications!!!! Continental Automotive recalls 5 million airbag control units
Thu, Feb 4 2016Takata isn't the only supplier having airbag problems. Rival manufacturer Continental Automotive Systems announced a recall of 5 million airbag control units fitted to vehicles from Honda, Fiat Chrysler Automotive, Mercedes-Benz, and even a certain Chrysler-based Volkswagen. This sweeping recall has actually been in progress for some time, although the exact scope is only now becoming evident. In October of 2015, Mercedes-Benz recalled 2008 and 2009 model year C- and GLK-Class vehicles because their Continental-made airbag control units could corrode. Such a condition could cause the airbags to deploy without cause or warning, or in the event of a crash, not deploy at all. You can read all about it in our post from last year. Now, Continental's recall is going wide. Alongside the already recalled C and GLK, you've already heard about the 2008 and 2009 Honda Accord airbag recall, which we reported on yesterday. Now, Fiat Chrysler is announcing the recall of the 2009 Dodge Journey, as well as the 2008 and 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town and Country, and their rebadged counterpart, the Volkswagen Routan. Yes, one manufacturer is recalling another manufacturer's vehicle. The models listed above only amount to about 580,000 vehicles out of 5 million bad airbag control units. And since Continental will notify manufacturers who will then issue their own recalls, it's extremely likely that more brands and vehicles will be ensnared. Stay tuned. Based on wing, next Civic Type R may go eleventy billion mph
Tue, Oct 13 2015Honda just returned to the hot hatch arena with the new Civic Type R. And what a beast it is. But as we know, there's already a new Civic on its way. That is slated to include a new Type R as well, and that's just what our spy photographers have caught undergoing testing at the Nurburgring. Underneath all that camouflage we can see that this prototype is packing an aggressive front end, a giant rear wing, and a trio of tailpipes protruding out the back. Expect the new Type R to offer even more power than the current one, which already produces a stonking 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. That's already enough to propel the existing model to 60 miles per hour in 5.7 seconds and lap the Nordschleife in a front-drive record-beating 7:50.63. (Though not enough to match the Ford Focus RS, as we recently found out.) Best of all, we've got good cause to be optimistic that the new Civic Type R will be offered in the United States (unlike the current one) to dice it with the likes of that new fast Ford. We're told that the new Civic will be rolled out first as a sedan, then as a coupe, followed by the five-door hatch, the warmed-up Civic Si, and finally the Type R. That means we should look for Honda's new hot hatch to arrive in about a year from now as a 2017 model. In the meantime, you can scope out the latest spy shots in the gallery above. Related Video:
Honda to present HR-V, updated Acura ILX at LA show
Mon, 20 Oct 2014Honda has already showcased its new Fit-based crossover around the world. We've seen it in Tokyo wearing the Vezel name and we've seen it in Paris in 'prototype' form. We've even seen photos of the US-spec version. We just haven't seen that North American model in the flesh, but that'll all be fixed next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
That's where Honda will, at long last, unveil the US version of its new HR-V subcompact. The Japanese automaker hasn't told us much else, save to say that the HR-V will, of course, slot in below the CR-V in US showrooms. It'll also feature the company's lauded Magic Seat system, "which allows for multiple seating configurations and the ability to fold the second row seat completely flat for added cargo space."
Alongside the HR-V, Honda's luxury division will also be showcasing a revised version of its ILX sedan at the LA show as well. Acura hasn't revealed precise details of what revisions are in store for its smallest sedan - or a more detailed photo than the teaser inset at right - but it is promising "a comprehensive update that include a potent new powertrain, more forceful, sporty exterior styling and a substantially upgraded interior design."
