Super nice 1991 Honda Prelude Si ALB Red 2 door 5 speed manual transmission, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, power sunroof, cruise control, air conditioning, power steering. Runs Super Awesome. Very strong and quick. Drives straight. I was an auto mechanic for 15 years and decided to get out of the business. I specialized in and my favorite cars are Hondas and Acuras. Times are changing rapidly and I have to part with this car. I am a single full time dad and just don't have the time for tinkering anymore. I hate to let her go. My loss is your gain. I know this car inside and out. I will miss it for sure.
I bought this car with a 2.1 liter B21A1 FRM engine with around 157,000 miles. I drove it for a bit and the FRM engine blew just too much oil so I then bought a JDM 2.0 liter B20A wrapped in saran wrap right off the pallet from Japan. CLEAN. SO much stuff I did to this car. I have almost every receipt and have a bunch of pictures much of what I did to it when I replaced the engine. Too much to list but here it goes. When I replaced the engine I installed a new timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner, crank seal, new drive belts, new heater hoses, radiator hoses, bypass hoses, thermostat & gasket, distributor cap & rotor, valve cover gasket and grommets, clutch slave cylinder, and clutch master cylinder, brake master cylinder, driver and passenger window seals and guides, new clutch assembly. I re-taped the whole wire harness when the engine was out and had easy access to everything. All connections are very clean, intact and well secured. New header pipe and O2 sensor. New stabilizer arms in the rear. New clutch assembly installed again at about 230,000 miles and I again replaced the timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner, crank pulley, crank seal. All 4 motor mounts were replaced. Installed Napa rebuilt left side rear caliper, both rear rotors and pads, both front pads and rotors, brake work was done in late 2011. The power steering pump does not leak. The a/c clutch, clutch coil, bearing and pulley was replaced and blows cold 39 degrees when it was 78 degrees outside the other day. A/C has been converted to take R134A Freon. Add a 12 oz can of R134A and most likely will blow even colder. New radiator, New Battery, K&N air filter, tires at about 60% tread left. Most of the parts are stock genuine OEM Honda parts except parts like radiator, rear caliper, clutch assembly (LUK), The brake and clutch master cylinders were rebuilt by Napa.
Alpine CD player with pioneer speakers in the back, sony speakers in the front. Comes with a Sirius Sportsman 4 receiver hard wired into the Alpine Deck. (not activated) I have a small base tube in the trunk. The bass tube does NOT come with the car but all the connections will be there to connect your own very easily (rca jacks, remote wire, thick power cable wired directly to battery and short thick ground cable.) The interior is in awesome shape. Minor wear and tear. The driver side carpet has a few tears where feet go. Some armor all will make it look almost like new inside. The body is in mediocre shape. On the drivers side rear panel, behind driver door in front of wheel well, a deer slid into the side of the car while I was doing 50mph and there are a few small indentations there. The paint isn't in the best of shape but doesn't look bad. Buffing will make it look even better. The hood has been sanded down and spray painted. Not the best job, but looks ok considering. The rear bumper was replaced with a black one. Just needs paint. The car is all there and no rot. A little bubbling is just starting near the gas door. I ran car thru the carwash one day and now tail lenses have small tiny cracks all over in the plastic. They have been like that for 3 years and work perfectly. No fluid leaks and no water leaks into the interior. EVERYTHING WORKS. Clean PA Title. PA safety inspected until 6/30/13.
Buyer and myself MUST go to a local PA Notary to transfer ownership of title/tags/tax etc. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY ON THURSDAY OR FRIDAY ONLY. You must pick up the car in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18018. Car is sold as is. No Refunds or Returns. Paypal or Cash at Notary accepted. No checks. Bidding is a binding obligation to purchase this vehicle. $500 deposit required within 24 hrs of close of auction by Paypal and remainder to be collected at notary office or be paid by Paypal. Honda Clarity goes on sale in Japan, but only 200 units a year
Fri, Mar 11 2016Honda has officially started leasing its Clarity hydrogen fuel cell vehicle to select customers in Japan, and the sedan should arrive at a few dealers in California late in the year. Once the model is available in the US, expect the Clarity to be the natural challenger to the Toyota Mirai FCEV. The Clarity boasts an electric motor with 174 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. In Japan's JC08 test, Honda claims the sedan can travel the equivalent of 466 miles, but that evaluation is more lenient than its US equivalent. The automakers expects the sedan to receive an EPA-estimated driving distance of over 300 miles. Prices in Japan begin at the current equivalent of $67,800. However, examples here should retail for around $60,000 and lease for under $500 a month. The Toyota Mirai is similar to the Clarity in major categories, including an EPA range of 312 miles and leases for $499 a month. The two of them should have quite a fight. Honda plans to limit Clarity production to 200 units in Japan for the first year, and only government agencies or businesses can lease them there. After the company collects impressions from these clients, it intends to make the sedan available to individuals. The decision only to lease the Clarity at first evokes the early days at of electric vehicles when companies like General Motors used the strategy to get the EV1 to customers. One thing that could give Honda the edge in the upcoming hydrogen fuel cell battle is its history in the market. The company first offered them with the FCX and later followed up with the FCX Clarity. By this point, the automaker should be well acquainted with the process. Striving to realize full-fledged popularization of FCVs, Honda created Clarity Fuel Cell as an FCV featuring both a high level of practicality that represents the "universal value" of an automobile and "cutting-edge appeal" that is suitable for a vehicle that is at the forefront of the times. Clarity Fuel Cell is the world's first*1 five-passenger sedan type FCV, realized by making the fuel cell powertrain more compact using original Honda technologies and fitting it entirely under the hood of the car.
Asian automakers still reluctant to use more aluminum
Tue, Jun 24 2014There's a logical progression of technology in the auto industry. We've seen it with things like carbon-ceramic brakes, which use to be the sole domain of six-figure sports cars, where they often cost as much as an entry level Toyota Corolla. Now, you can get them on a BMW M3 (they're still pricey, at $8,150). Who knows, maybe in the next four a five years, they'll be available on something like a muscle car or hot hatchback. Aluminum has had a similar progression, although it's further along, moving from the realm of Audi and Jaguar luxury sedans to Ford's most important product, the F-150. With the stuff set to arrive in such a big way on the market, we should logically expect an all-aluminum Toyota Camry or Honda Accord soon, right? Um, wrong. Reuters has a great report on what's keeping Asian manufacturers away from aluminum, and it demonstrates yet another stark philosophical difference between automakers in the east and those in the west. Of course, there's a pricing argument at play. But it's more than just the cost of aluminum sheet (shown above) versus steel. Manufacturing an aluminum car requires extensive retooling of existing factories, not to mention new relationships with suppliers and other logistical and financial nightmares. Factor that in with what Reuters calls Asian automaker's preference towards "evolutionary upgrades," and the case for an all-aluminum Accord is a difficult one. Instead, manufacturers in the east are focusing on developing even stronger steel as a means of trimming fat, although analysts question how long that practice can continue. Jeff Wang, the automotive sales director for aluminum supplier Novelis, predicts that we'll see a bump in aluminum usage from Japanese and Korean brands in the next two to three years, and that it will be driven by an influx of aluminum-based vehicles from western automakers into China. Only time will tell if he's proven right. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Sean Gallup / Getty Images Plants/Manufacturing Honda Hyundai Mazda Nissan Toyota Technology aluminum
Honda builds up new Civic Type R ahead of Geneva debut
Wed, Feb 11 2015It's been a long time coming, but it's almost here. Or almost there, we should say, because it sadly won't be coming (at least in this form) to the United States. We're talking, of course, about the new Honda Civic Type R – a hot hatch we've been anticipating for about a year and a half now through a series of prototypes and concept cars. It's finally set to bow just weeks from now, in final production form, at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. But before it does, Honda is giving us yet another taste of what to expect with a trio of teaser images and some juicy details. That Honda's new hot hatch would be powered by its new 2.0-liter turbo four we already knew, but now the Japanese automaker is telling us that it'll produce enough juice to propel the Euro-spec pocket rocket up to a top speed of 167 miles per hour. In a hatchback. That feat will be enabled in large part by its advanced aerodynamics, elements of which we can begin to see from the teaser images – including a big front splitter, deep side skirts, a giant rear wing and an almost completely flat underbody. It'll also be kept in check by a set of Brembo brakes with 13.8-inch drilled discs clamped by four-piston calipers up front and packed into a unique set of 19-inch alloys. It'll all be wrapped for the show stand in classic Japanese racing white, and we're even given a glimpse inside the cabin, where we can see red-glowing instruments, a red center marker at the top of the steering rim and that +R button we were promised. It's all shaping up to be a rather tempting package indeed, but will have to fend off the likes of the new Ford Focus RS and ever-improving challengers from the likes of Renault and Seat to dominate the European hot hatch scene. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see in what form Honda brings the fight to America, too.
