This is a 1989 Honda Prelude SI, manual transmission car. It is not running. The car has been stored under cover for a long time. We stored it in our carport while we were out of state. When we returned, something had built a nest in the timing belt. When we cranked it, it jumped time. We shut it down immediately. I replaced the head with a rebuilt head from National Cylinder head. The car ran fine with the rebuilt head. It did smoke on start up. The cylinder head came sealed in shrink wrap but it was obvious it had been on the shelf a long time. The ASE mechanic that helped me do the work felt a valve stem seal had dried out as the smoking was getting less every day we drove it. We had to go back out of state so the car sat again for a long period. When we returned there was a major problem with the electrical system. Something had gone to ground. Even with the charger on, it will not hold enough juice to light the headlights. Everything but the AC and the antenna retractor was operational when we stored it. The AC components are all there, but it was not operational. I have tried to show every defect in my photos, I have more pic's if you request them. Please ask questions, I'll do my best to answer them. There is rust in three places on the drivers side, specifically, a hole in the rocker panel behind the front wheel, two rust bubbles on the door, rust bubbles directly in front of the rear wheel. There is a scuff on the drivers side rear bumper corner. There are tears in the drivers side interior door panel where it closes. There is a small tear in the same place on the passenger door. The skylite is cracked but does not leak. There is a repaired chip in the windshield low in the center, not in your line of view. The undercarriage is solid most of the factory rustcoat is still in tact. When we replaced the head we did the timing belt and water pump. Also put a new fuel pump in it at that time. All the fluids were changed at that time, but they have sat in the vehicle now for over a year. The tires have decent tread but they should be replaced. As you can see from the undercarriage pics it need some exhaust work. There are not many of this body style classic Preludes left. This car needs lots of work but could be a great car for the right person. This car is sold AS IS, AS SHOWN, with no warranty expressed or implied. Please ask all the questions you can. I will be happy to answer them and provide more pics if you need them. Back around 2006 the car had a very minor accident. Bent the Front bumper support. Because of the age of the car, the insurance adjuster wanted to total the car. We disputed the action and won. We have the clear title on the car, and the body shop repair bill to repair the minor bumper support damage and the bumper skin.

Honda aiming for new mpg-record on European hypermile drive

Here's a warning that there will be a Honda Civic clogging up the right lane of a bunch of highways throughout Europe next month. Honda wants to set the Guinness World Record for best fuel economy for a car going through the European Union's 24 contiguous countries. To do so, we can't expect any high speeds on the autobahn. Two of Honda's finest from its UK factory will hit the road June 1 for a 25-day journey in a Honda Civic Tourer that will take the pair through two-dozen countries in 25 days. That means about 370 miles of very measured driving per day. The Civic Tourer will be equipped with a tracking device and other telematic services, and the goal is to see what kind of fuel economy the pair can get from the car's 1.6-liter i-DTEC engine. Honda isn't saying what kind of fuel-sipping figure it's looking to achieve over those three-plus weeks, which will take the car through countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, France and Spain, but the Japanese automaker is shooting for a fuel economy record irrespective of any type of powertrain, hybrids included. Heading towards the Netherlands and Germany, their trip will see them navigate the Continent in a clockwise direction, with the aim of returning to their starting point some 25 days later, on June 25th, having covered a planned total of 8,459miles. The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title attempt comes on the back of several independent tests which have proven Honda's 1.6 i-DTEC engine to consistently out-perform its quoted fuel efficiency in real-world driving conditions. Keen to once again underline this performance and in the challenging spirit for which the brand is famed, Honda aims to set a benchmark with a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title never before attempted in Europe.

Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota

The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands

Honda updates Takata airbag recall status for some models

The net enveloping vehicles in the Takata airbag inflator recall just seems to keep widening. Honda is now updating its previous campaign to revise the status for even more models that were ever registered in (or originally sold in) 13 high-humidity US states and territories.
All of these vehicles were included in the company's earlier repairs. However, at the time this fix was titled "a safety improvement campaign." This latest action upgrades that condition to "a formal recall," according to Honda's official statement. The models include: the 2003-2005 Honda Accord, 2001-2005 Civic (pictured above), 2002-2005 CR-V, 2003-2004 Element, 2002-2004 Odyssey, 2003-2005 Pilot, 2006 Ridgeline, 2003-2005 Acura MDX and the 2005 Acura RL. All of these need to have their passenger-side, front airbag inflator replaced, and the recall affects Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Saipan, Guam and American Samoa.
As with the rest of these affected vehicles, it's possible in a collision for the inflator to rupture spraying metal shrapnel at occupants. There are at least 139 injuries attributed to this problem from a variety of automakers so far. Among this latest population of vehicles, Honda says there have been no confirmed injuries or fatalities related to these exploding inflators.
