This van runs great, is in excellent condition, and looks great. We have kids and there is normal wear and tear inside the vehicle. There has been no smoking in the vehicle. I don't even have a list of items that are wrong with the van because there is nothing wrong with it to my knowledge.
We hit a deer last year and had cosmetic work done (replaced windshield, front bumper, hood, other minor stuff) by an insurance certified dealer / mechanic (Toyota dealer). Also, we replaced the passenger sliding door with a NEW door in 2013 as well (done by Honda). I have all the paperwork. The oil / regular service has been done on schedule. The air bags did not go off because the impact was minimal and nothing beyond cosmetic work, as noted by the insurance inspectors / mechanic. WARRANTY: A. The initial 3-year / 36,000 mile bumper to bumper is expired because of the miles. B. If you purchase this van, I will pay you $100 to offset / cover the cost of having a mechanic inspect the vehicle. C. Further, if anything is wrong with the engine in the first 10,000 miles that you own this van, I'll pay you up to $2,000 dollars to assist with repairs. I have two of these vans and am confident that this van is in excellent shape and that you are getting a good, fair deal. The tires are original and are getting close to life expectancy / need for replacement. I had the oil changed last week and the mechanic felt they were okay for a few thousand more miles. It has the Honda Navigation system (awesome), hands-free phone capabilities, satellite radio capability, and Ipod adaptor / connector in glove box . It does NOT have the DVD system. It does have the sunroof, heated front seats, and power everything. I've priced it just below the low end of the KBB value range ($24,700 - $28,400). Lesson Learned: The local dealers are offering only $20,000 for trade in / purchase because the cosmetic work / accident shows up on the Carfax report. It's unfortunate that the value is impacted that much because the van has NO evidence (mechanical or visual) that anything occurred. However, I suspect that the van will be sitting on the dealer's lot, within minutes, with a $28,000 sticker price and the accident will be disclosed as "not a big deal," because it was not a big deal. I am straight forward and am genuinely concerned that a fair deal is done. I'm not willing to jeopardize my integrity for a couple thousand dollars. If you are interested, please get the van thoroughly inspected by a Honda dealer and you will find out what I already know about this van: it is good-to-go. |

Petition to bring Honda Civic Type R to US picking up steam
Mon, 10 Mar 2014Never mind what the executives say - we've had a sneaking suspicion all along that the upcoming Honda Civic Type R won't be coming to North America. And with good reason: both the prototype we drove in Japan and the concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show last week were based on the European-spec Civic hatchback - not to mention that some of the best hot hatches remain out of our reach.
Well it turns out we're not the only ones with that concern. There are legions of Honda hot hatch enthusiasts right here in the good old U S of A who want to see the new Civic Type R ripping up the Great American Road. And many of them are taking to the cyberclouds demanding that Honda bring it Stateside, post haste.
As of the time of writing, this online petition has gotten over 6,000 digital signatures, needing less than 1,500 more to get to the author's target of 7,500 votes. Of course, if and when the petition reaches its target, that still won't mean that Honda will bring it over, but it could mean that extra bit of encouragement the Japanese automaker's executives would need to tip the scales in our favor.
Honda and NHTSA report 11th death linked to Takata airbags
Fri, Oct 21 2016Honda and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirmed the 11th death due to a faulty Takata airbag today. A 50-year-old California woman died from injuries sustained after the recalled airbag inflator in her 2001 Honda Civic ruptured in a crash, Automotive News reports. The Civic in question was one of 313,000 Honda/ Acura vehicles built between 2001 and 2003 with a bad Takata airbag inflator. According to AN, Honda issued an initial airbag recall in 2008, eventually sending more than 20 notices to owners of affected vehicles. NHTSA issued a dire warning in June, suggesting owners stop driving cars with recalled inflators due to the "grave danger" they posed. In the case of the 2001-2003 Hondas and Acuras, NHTSA warned of as much as a 50 percent chance an airbag inflator would rupture if it wasn't replaced in a previous recall. Between now and 2019, NHTSA plans on recalling 70 million faulty Takata inflators. But as of October 7, only about 36 percent, or 11.4 million of the officially recalled inflators, have been pulled off the road. With 11 deaths and over 100 injuries linked to faulty Takata airbags, we implore owners of recalled vehicles (regardless of the make) to heed manufacturer recalls. Yes, it's annoying to stop by the dealership, but manufacturers issue recalls for your safety. Best to pay attention to them. Honda is first Japanese carmaker to be a net-exporter from US
Wed, 29 Jan 2014Over the last decade or so, many foreign automakers have challenged the idea of what defines an "American car," but Honda took things a step further last year by exporting more cars out of the US than it imported in. Reuters is reporting that in 2013, a total of 108,705 Honda and Acura models were exported from the US with only 88,357 being shipped in. This gives Honda a net exporter status here, and makes it the first of such among the major Japanese automakers.
Honda's US imports have been dropping over the last five years while its exports have been steadily increasing. In 2008, the report indicates that Honda shipped 187,000 vehicles to the US and exported only 20,000, and even by 2012 Honda still favored imports with 136,000 imports and 74,000 exports. The article says that US-made Honda and Acura vehicles were exported to 50 countries with most ending up in Mexico, but the big news is that the Honda's US production set a record in 2013 with 1.3 million units built.
