I purchased this car in July of 2011 from a dealer in Missouri. After purchasing the car I had my local Honda Dealer go through all of the items that would need to be repaired now or in the near future to ensure that the car would be reliable. I have all of the receipts from the work I have had done to the car. All of the parts are Honda Original Equipment and have been installed by the dealer. The IMA Battery was replaced on 3/14/11 when the car had 70,989 miles on it. The only reason I am selling the car is because we need something with four doors. With gas prices approaching $4.00 for Regular Unleaded the car will quickly save you a significant amount of money in fuel. My best trip was from Austin, TX to Dallas, TX with 72.1 MPG, with around town driving I typically get about 56 MPG. These are real world numbers. There are several modifications that can be made to these cars that allow you to get significantly better numbers. The car has the original OEM Honda Cassette deck but includes upgraded POLK speakers (I also have the original speakers which will be included, and the new speakers were a directly fit with no modifications required to the car) there is also a Blitzsafe Honda adapter which allows you to connect a portable MP3 player or your phone to the radio. This car also has the leather wrapped steering wheel from an Acura installed. This car also includes a grid charger which I have only used four times, anytime I am out of town for more than a week I would put the grid charger on a timer. Title in hand, this car is ready to go!
Pros
Acura RSX Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel Installed
Two recently installed Bridgestone RE92 tires (all tires are Bridgestone RE92) this is the only tire you want on this car
Extra OEM Wheel I have a total of five (5) full size OEM wheels plus the spare, all full size wheels are outfitted with Bridgestone RE92 tires. All 5 are included in the auction.
Upgraded Polk Speakers (perfect OEM fit - no modifications made to the car to install them), Original Speakers also included.
Blitzsafe Honda Adapter for attaching an mp3 player or cell phone
Always serviced by Honda Dealer with Genuine Honda Parts
Rare 5-speed Transmisison
LOW Miles
Hybrid Battery replaced less than 9,000 miles ago
Grid Charger installed
I have removed and cleaned out the EGR Plate (a common problem on the Insight), last year I installed new Honda OEM Spark Plugs (correctly matched for each cylinder), new Cabin and engine Air Filters.
Documented Service History, Clean CarFax
This car has the rear-wiper delete, the original wiper and motor will be included.
All new under-engine cover (Most cars are missing the under engine/under body cover panels, when I bought this car they were missing. I replaced all of them, it had a noticeable difference on fuel economy)
Cons
There are some scratches on the drivers side wheel cover, I bought another wheel cover but it too would need to be repainted. I will include the additional wheel cover. Because I had planned on either replacing or repainting the wheel cover I also bought the black trim stickers for both sides from Honda, which I will include.
Heat shield on Catalytic Coverter rusted (Strange because the rest of the undercarriage looks great, the heat shield however was made out of steel and has rusted. It has no impact on the operation of the car and to be clear its just the heat shield that is rusted, not the catalytic converter).
This is a two-seat car
Blemish in passenger seat cover (I bought another perfect seat cover that I am including if the blemish bothers you you can replace the seat cover I also have the pins that are required)
Hole under drivers side carpet. (Honda no longer sells the drivers side floor mat, so most of these cars end up with a hole in the drivers side floor. I have another used carpet that I am including if you decide to replace the existing carpet, Honda also no longer sells the carpet for this car.)
I also have one new Honda OEM Oil Filter, and 2.6 Quarts of Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil for your next oil change that I will include. This car only uses 2.6 Quarts of Oil.
Recently Completed Service History
On July 25, 2011 I had First Texas Honda do an Oil Change, Transmission Oil Change, and Coolant Service when they did the Texas State Inspection. At this time I also asked the dealer if they could inspect the battery and they told me that it was replaced on 3/14/11. Here is the receipt http://nptrental.com/Insight/2011-07-25_First_Texas_Honda.PDF
On July 26, 2011 I purchased a new passenger floor mat, misc bolts/screws/nuts, and a new EGR. Here is the receipt http://nptrental.com/Insight/2011-07-25_First_Texas_Honda.PDF
On August 22, 2011 Due to a Service Bulletin Honda Installed a New PCM 37820-PCM-HON this was done under warranty http://nptrental.com/Insight/2011-08-22_First_Texas_Honda.PDF
On October 9, 2011 I ordered a PCV valve, and Air Conditioner/Alternator belt. Here is the receipt http://nptrental.com/Insight/2011-10-09_Majestic_Honda_Parts.PDF
On Novermber 12, 2011 I purchased two Bridgestone Original Equipment RE92 tires and had them mounted and balanced by the Honda Dealer, I also had the car aligned at the time. Here is the receipt http://nptrental.com/Insight/2011-11-12_First_Texas_Honda.PDF
On May 25, 2012 Replaced the motor mount, fixed A/C leak, recharged A/C, fixed rattling heat shield. http://nptrental.com/Insight/2012-05-25_First_Texas_Honda.PDF

22,000 Honda Shadow 750 motorcycles recalled [UPDATE]
Thu, Jan 14 2016Update: Honda's statement on the recall is now embedded below. The Basics: Honda will recall 22,142 examples of its 2010-2016 VT750 Shadow motorcycles, including the 2012-2014 VT750CA, VT750C2 and VT750C2F; 2011-2016 VT750C; 2013-2016 VT750CS; 2010-2016 VT750C2B; and 2013-2014 VT750C2S. The Problem: Engine vibration can cause a wire for the bank angle sensor to rub against the joint connector on the wire harness. This can eventually cause a loss of the signal, and the engine could stall. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will replace the bank angle sensor and move the joint connector. If You Own One: Honda expects the recall to begin February 19. More Information: Documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF) report Honda received five warranty claims and five field reports about this issue as of December 14, 2015. Related Video: RECALL Subject : Engine Stall from Loss of Sensor Signal Report Receipt Date: DEC 23, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V874000 Component(s): ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Potential Number of Units Affected: 22,142 All Products Associated with this Recall Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s) HONDA VT750 2010-2016 Details Manufacturer: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) SUMMARY: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 VT750CA, VT750C2 and VT750C2F, 2011-2016 VT750C, 2013-2016 VT750CS, 2010-2016 VT750C2B and 2013-2014 VT750C2S motorcycles. Engine vibration may cause the bank angle sensor wire to rub on the wire harness joint connector, resulting in a loss of the sensor signal. CONSEQUENCE: Without the bank angle sensor signal, the engine may stall while riding, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will relocate the joint connector and replace the bank angle sensor, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 19, 2016. Owners may contact Honda Motorcycle customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is JW7. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov. American Honda Statement on VT750 Recall Honda has issued a Safety Recall of some 2010-2016 model-year VT750 motorcycles. It is possible that long term exposure to engine vibrations may cause the bank angle sensor wiring to break, or be damaged, which could cause the engine to stall and increase the risk of a crash.
Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota FCV ready for production, Nissan tests Leaf-to-Home energy management
Fri, Oct 17 2014Toyota will begin selling its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV) in Japan in December. The US and Europe can expect to see the car become available next summer. The FCV, which will likely be called "Mirai" (meaning "future") in Japan, is ready for production ahead of its initial deadline at the end of the fiscal year in March. Toyota planned for annual production of 700 units, but might increase output to meet higher-than-expected demand, which is currently nearing 1,000 units. The cars will mostly be sold in the four cities where a hydrogen fueling infrastructure is already being put in place: Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka. Read more at Nikkei Asian Review. Nissan is testing the Leaf EV as part of an energy management system including "Leaf to Home" technology. The system allows the Leaf to help support the power grid during peak energy usage, or provide backup power to a home or building during outages, particularly in emergencies like natural disasters. Using the Leaf's battery to provide electricity during peak hours would lessen the demand on the grid and make the system work more efficiently. Furthermore, if consumers are compensated for the energy saved by using the Leaf for power during periods of high demand, it could encourage more people to adopt the EV. CDP keeps track of how much companies are disclosing about their impact on global climate change. "The need for data on corporate climate change impacts and strategies to reduce them has never been greater," says CDP CEO Paul Simpson. "For this reason we congratulate those businesses that have achieved a position on CDP's Climate Disclosure Leadership Index." Other perfect scores were earned by Nissan, BMW, Daimler and General Motors. Read more in the press release from Honda below. Scientists at Stanford University have developed a lithium ion battery that can warn users before it overheats. A thin layer of copper between the anode and the layer separating the anode from the cathode acts as a sensor. When it detects lithium buildups from overcharging are approaching the separator, it sends an early alert long before it gets to a point where it would cause a short (which could lead to a fire). The new safety measure could be used in all sorts of battery applications, and not be limited to EVs. Learn more at Phys.org.
15 vehicles most likely to surpass 200,000 miles
Tue, Mar 8 2022Americans drive a lot. Collectively, we put, on average, more than 13,000 miles on our cars each year according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Because of this, a vehicle's ability to travel long distances without major problems is a huge consideration when it comes time to purchase a new one. It's also worth remembering that keeping an older car on the road instead of trashing it and buying new can be considered an eco-friendly decision. After all, it takes a lot of resources to build a car. iSeeCars.com, a website that aggregates used car listings from all around the country, recently ran through the numbers on millions of vehicles that are currently on the road to determine which last the longest. Alternatively, you could choose to look at this list as vehicles likely to be driven by owners who travel long distances. Either way, we've laid out the top 15 vehicles most likely to hit or even surpass the 200,000-mile mark. It's important to note that while these are the vehicles that have stood the test of time up until today, we can't guarantee future results if you decide to opt for one of these from a current model year. That said, unless we specifically say so in the text below, we've used pictures of current models for illustrative purposes. Now, with all of that out of the way, scroll on down for the top 15 vehicles most likely to crest 200,000 miles. 15: Toyota Sienna 14: Honda Odyssey The 15th spot and 14th spot on the list of the top 15 vehicles most likely to surpass 200,000 miles are both minivans. Spoiler alert: They will be the only two minivans on the list. According to iSeeCars, 3.2% of both of these family haulers crest the 200,000-mile mark, making them the best bets for families looking to put a ton of miles on their machines. 13: Honda Ridgeline 12: GMC Yukon The next spot on the list is occupied by the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck with 3.7% lasting past 200,000 miles. Unlike any of the other midsize trucks it competes with, the Ridgeline is based on a unibody chassis. Opting for this more car-like structure — as opposed to a traditional body-on-frame layout — allows Honda's hauler to ride and drive more like a car. Up next is the GMC Yukon, also with 3.7% past the 200K mark, and the first, but very much not the last, big traditional SUV you'll see on the list. In fact, get ready to see a whole bunch of 'em, including several from GMC parent General Motors.
