Grandma's 2007 Honda Fit Has Only 15,791 Original Miles on 2040-cars
Arlington, Virginia, United States
|
My wife's mother bought this car new on July 15, 2006. She owns it free and clear. Grandma is elderly and has put only 15,791 miles on it. It has been
dealer maintained since new and the mechanics are excellent. So is the
interior, and there's plenty of miles left on the tires. It has the basic accessories - A/C, CD player, radio, etc. Please note: IT HAS A MANUAL (5 SPEED STICK SHIFT) TRANSMISSION.
Grandma is a nonsmoker but she does have a dog. We vacuumed the interior, so there are no dog hairs. Nevertheless those with dog allergies should take this into consideration. The exterior is another story. Grandma is moving into a life care community, and one of the reasons is that her eye-hand coordination has been declining in recent years. This car's body definately reflects that. There are numerous small doinks and boinks on all sides, and all 4 wheel rims have road rash. A piece of plastic body cladding that goes under the front bumper and wraps under the front of the car got damaged and was removed (Its absence is not noticeable but we wanted to disclose it). Fortunately the car has never been in a major accident and there are no major dents. I repainted many of the dings and scrapes (most of them pretty small) with matching touch-up paint. From 10 feet away it looks fine. You are welcome to test drive it and have your mechanic inspect it. There are also a number of Honda dealers near us (Arlington, VA 22213). Most will do a pre-purchase inspection for you, and you can pay them with a credit card. If we have an agreement on the price we can make it subject to your approval of their inspection. I'll be happy to drive it over to them for the inspection. The Kelly Blue Book private party price for this care is $9,596 in excellent condition, $9,263 in very good, and $9,064 in good. The mechanics and interior meets the KBB definition for excellent and the exterior meets the KBB definition for good. We are aiming for the KBB Very Good Price - $9,263. If you are having the car shipped to you I'll be happy to coordinate the pick up with them. |

Honda ready for 'late 2016' arrival of Clarity Fuel Cell in US
Wed, Nov 18 2015Two years ago at the LA Auto Show, Honda showed off the first concept for what we now know is the Clarity fuel cell vehicle. At the time, Honda said it would arrive at some point in 2015. Since then, Honda has said simply that the Clarity would arrive some time after the March 2016 on-sale date in Japan and even gave itself an out in case the debut slipped to the first half of 2017. Yesterday, at a preview event at the Honda Advanced Design Studio in downtown LA, Honda narrowed that down a bit more to, "late 2016." Honda representatives said this was all still in line with internal targets for the US launch of the car. They already know when the car will arrive here, but are not yet able to say, since things like crash tests and other homologation issues could still change the timeline. The company is happy to see the expansion in the number of hydrogen refueling stations in California and is working a number of dealers in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Area to get them ready to sell the Clarity. Everything that has happened since the company officially set its internal fuel cell clock has been going to plan, Honda representatives told AutoblogGreen. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles from Hyundai and Toyota are available now, while those from other automakers (like BMW and Nissan) may arrive in or after 2020. Honda still won't confirm, on the record, that an all-electric model will be the third vehicle to use the platform that the Clarity and the upcoming plug-in hybrid (due in 2018) use, as we suspect. But, during a casual discussion about Honda happenings, I heard one executive say that he's busy working on the follow-up "products" that will use the platform, so this remains something to keep in mind. We recently got the chance to drive the Clarity in Japan, which you can read about here.
Honda MC-? prototype
Thu, 02 Jan 2014Honda is less an automaker, it has been said, and more of a motor company that builds vehicles into which to put its engines. That sort of perspective goes a long way towards explaining the mind-boggling diversity of the company's product lineup. The Japanese industrial giant makes lawnmowers, marine engines, robots... even jet aircraft. It's also one of only a handful of companies that makes both cars and motorbikes. We recently had the chance to sample something that falls in between.
It's called MC-β - shorthand for Micro Commuter Beta, which already tells you it's Honda's second stab at the formula. The first Micro Commuter prototype was announced a year prior and, though marginally larger, struck us as a more complete product than its successor. But it'll likely still be a while before the formula is perfected and put into production, and even then it isn't likely to find its way any time soon to Honda's American showrooms - whether those showrooms are selling cars, bikes or ride-on mowers.

Honda helps Santa take his sled into the 21st century
Tue, Dec 23 2014If you had put nearly 75 billion miles on your only company car, it would most likely be pleading for retirement in every rickety way it knew how. That's Santa's situation, so St. Nick heads to his not-exactly-local-at-all Honda dealer for a new sled, and the company obliges with a red rider fit for the new millennium. But Honda doesn't try to shoehorn he of the white beard into an Civic on rails. Working from Crayon sketches of safe sleighs and wanting to insure a lengthy stint on Santa's "Nice" list, the Honda reps work up a bespoke offering from a block of clay, but still give it features like a rear-view camera and a cargo bay ejector platform fitted with a parachute. You can see their gift to Santa in the video above. And for some even more far out holiday offerings from Honda, check out their Honda Days videos featuring Skeletor singing a bro hymn to He-Man, G.I. Joe serenading Gem, and Gumby and Pokey singing whatever they can think of. News Source: Honda via YouTube Honda Videos
