History*

2005 was the last year of the Seventh Generation body style

2005 was the 1st year U.S Honda introduced the Special Edition feature. It was available only in LX or EX trim.

The LX and EX Special Edition package features

  • Upgraded audio system with MP3 capable in-dash 6-disc CD changer

  • Auxiliary jack for use of portable music devices and satellite radio receivers

  • Rear wing spoiler

  • ABS-Anti Lock Brakes

  • Unique larger 15-inch alloy wheels

  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel

  • Special SE Badge

  • Only the EX Special Edition featured a sunroof and rear single cup holder and a more powerful engine. This is the highest edition available.

My girlfriend and I are the 2nd and 3rd owner. We have had it for at least 6 years. We bought it certified pre-owned from a Honda dealership in Huntington Beach, CA and have loved this car ever since.

There aren't a lot of manual Ex Special Edition Honda's out there. So real Honda lovers really like seeing this car out on the road and I have kept it completely stock.

It was our commuter car, so it was regularly serviced and anytime there was even a sign of an issue we took care of it. Though there really weren't very many issues since I am big on preventive car maintenance.

In the last 5k miles I had the radiator, thermostat, water pump, timing belt, and tires changed. So that should take care of you for a while when it comes to repairs.

The Auto check report shows no accidents, title or odometer issues, 3 owners ( we are the 2nd and 3rd owner ) and an overall high score of 83!

It is in great mechanical condition. The interior is also very clean and well maintained. There are a few minor scratches on the rear bumper as evident in the pictures. If you wanted the car to be cosmetically perfect I would say that is the only real eye sore. I have garage parking but the car and I are mostly in downtown where people think parking is like bumper cars.

Over the last 2 years I moved within 10 minutes of my office so it has been seeing less miles as of late. A few months from now I will be living abroad in Munich for work, so it is time to let our Honda go...

I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime since I do have the car listed locally. If you would like to make an offer please do so.

I tried to take as detailed pictures as possible but feel free to call me with any questions 562-833-2664

P.S This is a stick shift/ Manual transmission. I believe it's the only way to drive! All my cars have been standard, so if you need me to give you a quick lesson just let me know.

Petition to bring Honda Civic Type R to US picking up steam

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Never mind what the executives say - we've had a sneaking suspicion all along that the upcoming Honda Civic Type R won't be coming to North America. And with good reason: both the prototype we drove in Japan and the concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show last week were based on the European-spec Civic hatchback - not to mention that some of the best hot hatches remain out of our reach.
Well it turns out we're not the only ones with that concern. There are legions of Honda hot hatch enthusiasts right here in the good old U S of A who want to see the new Civic Type R ripping up the Great American Road. And many of them are taking to the cyberclouds demanding that Honda bring it Stateside, post haste.
As of the time of writing, this online petition has gotten over 6,000 digital signatures, needing less than 1,500 more to get to the author's target of 7,500 votes. Of course, if and when the petition reaches its target, that still won't mean that Honda will bring it over, but it could mean that extra bit of encouragement the Japanese automaker's executives would need to tip the scales in our favor.

The Honda Ridgeline returns for 2017

Mon, Jan 11 2016

The midsize truck segment is red hot right now, thanks to the new Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon twins, not to mention the redesigned Toyota Tacoma. So after killing the unibody Ridgeline truck a few years ago, Honda's back with another attempt. The 2017 Ridgeline keeps all of the old truck's rhythms intact, in a fresh, modern package. Slab-sided and with a tweaked version of the new Pilot's face, the Ridgeline is at the very least a brawny looking pickup. Honda says the truck's bed is five feet wide and five feet, four inches long, two figures that are larger than the first-gen Ridgeline, not to mention the four-door versions of the Chevrolet Colorado and Toyota Tacoma. But while those trucks offer different cab and bed configurations, the Ridgeline should be a one-size-fits-all affair. Keeping with that theme, the Ridgeline only offers V6 power, courtesy of Honda's excellent 3.5-liter VTEC six-pot. Honda doesn't give any power figures, but the Pilot does its job with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, so we expect similar numbers for the Ridgeline. But here, Honda will forgo the Pilot's nine-speed automatic in favor of a more traditional six-speed box. An optional torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system is available, but base Ridgelines will send power to the front axle only. Yes, a front-wheel-drive pickup truck. This one's definitely not for those who need true truck capability. Here's the best thing we can say about the new Ridgeline: it will continue to be a stellar tailgating partner. The first-gen truck was perfect for partying before a big game. There was room for four, and the ample bed had plenty of room for stuff and featured a unique dual-opening tailgate for easy unloading. The highlight, though, was a drainable, water-tight, 8.5-cubic-foot compartment built into the bed. A bed to sit in, and a place for the drinks. And a secure place to hold cargo the rest of the time. Those innovative features are joined by an industry first in-bed stereo system. In the cabin, that stereo system will be able to pump out the tunes from an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes complete with Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

Honda exec says US market near capacity, could hurt subprime buyers

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

Is there a point in the US auto industry where companies should start considering the welfare of their customers ahead of selling more cars? American Honda Executive Vice President of Sales John Mendel thinks that level exists, and we may be getting very close to it.
According to Automotive News, Mendel believes that finding more customers in the market could require pursuing subprime buyers and offering longer-term loans. However, he refuses to use those tactics. While selling models this way can improve things briefly, the strategies hurt resale prices and lower vehicle profits over time. The company won't do "stupid things in the short-term that damage the person who bought yesterday," he said to Automotive News. "It's a very, very short-term tactic especially in the subprime area."
American Honda, which combines the Acura and Honda brands, has seen market share decline from 9.7 percent to 9.1 percent through July 2014, according to Automotive News, and Autoblog's By the Numbers stats showed it posted falling sales in five of the seven months with data this year. Though, Mendel claims that was partially because the company focused on retail sales over fleets. The delays of the launches for the Honda Fit and Acura TLX likely didn't help either.
