Getting sick and tired of the up and down ridiculous gas prices??  With the price of gas skyrocketing yet again, there's no better time to buy an alternative fuel vehicle.  Here is your chance to own a hard to find 2003 Honda Civic GX CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) sedan.  Save big $$$ with natural gas, while helping clean up the environment.  This is a factory CNG package, NOT an aftermarket retrofit.  Dedicated CNG system, NOT bifuel.  This was an expensive factory option. Does NOT run on gasoline, only CNG.

I have been dealing in CNG vehicles for 4+ years.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions as I am always happy to assist.  401-225-6740 (Steven)

CNG Specs:

Compressed Natural Gas Tank Capacity: Approximately 8 US Gallons Gasoline Equivalent(GGE) @3600 psi 70 degrees F (21 degrees C). Average CNG range approx 200-240 miles.  Expiration date 04/2015

·  This hard to find 2003 Honda Civic GX Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Sedan.  Equipped with the reliable and highly efficient 1.7L VTEC SOHC engine and automatic transmission.  This is was a fleet maintained former gov't vehicle.  BEWARE of people selling vehicles with untested/unfilled CNG systems.  This vehicle has been filled and test driven 500+ miles.  This car is super economical to drive with CNG priced under $1.00 a gal in many areas.  State tax credit still available (Utah and other states that offer tax credits).

What is CNG???

Compressed Natural Gas or CNG, is one of nature's best untapped energy sources.  Unlike fossil fuels, it is constantly produced by the earth and can also can be synthesized through chemical processes.  The technology has been around for decades but until recently has been kept in the closet by big oil!  It is one of the fastest growing alernative fuel sources and unlike biodiesel and ethanol (E85), is a viable replacement for pertroleum.  Within the next 10 years 90% of gov't fleets will be CNG and civilian population will follow over the next 20 yrs.

Why should I buy a CNG/Bi Fuel Vehicle?

  • SAVE MONEY!  CNG is about 1/3 less than reguar unleaded and more stable in price.  AS LOW AS 99 CENTS PER GAL IN SOME AREAS!
  • CNG burns with practically no emissions compared to petroleum fuel so each mile you drive helps the environment....THINK GREEN
  • CNG is safer (less volatile) than gasoline as it has a higher ignition temp, 1200 deg vs 800 deg.
  • CNG poses little if any environment risk of contamination and in the event of an accident where tanks are breached, it evaporates into the air with no spill
  • CNG fill stations are growing more and more each day.  Check the links below for fill station locations across the US.
  • You can fill up at home using a Phil Fuelmaker device if you have a natural gas line. I have a Phil and would be happy to discuss it's ease of use.  No more trips to the gas station.  Tax deductible.
  • Most states allow you to drive solo in the HOV lane.
  • CNG is not corrosive like gasoline and wears MUCH easier on a motor.  Most CNG fueled engines require oil changes less frequently and sparkplugs last almost forever.  Overall engine life is usually significantly extended.
  • Unlike hybrid electic/gas cars, there are no costly batteries ($6000) to replace
  • Unlike hybrid electric vehicles, the CNG drivetrain is the same as the gasoline counterpart and can be serviced by most mechanics.  Only the CNG fuel system requires specially trained service technicians.
  • There may be tax credits/deducations available for CNG vehicle owners and for the purchase of a Phil Fuelmaker (check with IRS and state tax authorities)
  • Be the first person in your town to sport a CNG ride.  Almost always a conversation starter when you open the trunk!

Condition

Drivetrain

Engine starts right up and runs smooth and strong.  Only 70k miles. NOTE:  I drive this vehicle daily and this vehicle may have additional mileage not to exceed another 500 miles.  NO knocks, NO smoke, NO dripping leaks. Transmission shifts into and through all gears smoothly as it should.  Has even acceleration and cruises at highway speed.  The 1.7L VTEC is one of the most durable and efficient engines Honda produced and should easily last 500K+ miles with proper maintenance.  This was a maintained vehicle with regular dealer/fleet servicing.

CNG System

I have fueled up with CNG many times with no problems.  No evidence of any leaks. Everything looks to be in order and system holds pressure as it should .The CNG tank expires 02/18.

I have test driven this vehicle over 600 miles and it should have no problem going anywhere.  I do advise that long distance buyers use a transport service to move vehicle rather than drive due to the availability of CNG stations in some states.  As I recommend to all my customers, you should have your mechanic look over any newly purchased vehicle before extensive use.  I have tried to list as many details about this vehicle as I can, including known defects.  There may be deficiencies that I am not aware of so buyers are encouraged to inspect in person.  This was previously a fleet/lease vehicle and may have greater wear and tear than private vehicles.  Vehicle is otherwise sold as-is and where is with no warranty express of implied.  If you are local I encourage and welcome you to come down and test drive the car for yourself or have an independent inspection completed PRIOR to bidding.  I am happy to answer any questions so feel free to e-mail me or call.  There will be no price adjustments or cancellation of sale for failure to do so.

Google poised to release Apple CarPlay rival this month

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

Apple and Google. They're the Michigan and Ohio State of the tech world. They're New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, Real Madrid and Barcelona, or whatever sports-based rivalry you want to cook up. Bottom line, if one company expands into a segment, it's only a matter of time before the other follows suit. And now, that rivalry is about to carry over to your car's dashboard.
Unnamed sources are reporting to Automotive News that Google will unveil its very own challenger to Apple's new CarPlay in-car operating system later this month at the Mountain View, CA company's annual developer conference. The system, allegedly called Google Auto Link, will be the first product to come from the Open Automotive Alliance, a partnership between Google, General Motors, Hyundai, Audi, Honda and hardware manufacturer NVIDIA.
The official announcement is expected to be made on either June 25 or 26, at the Google I/O conference in San Francisco. Expect to hear a lot more about Google Auto Link then.

All Honda Accord Hybrid production moving to Japan

Fri, Apr 10 2015

The Honda Accord Hybrid will no longer be made in Marysville, OH. Honda has announced that the model – as well as the Accord Plug-In – will now be made in Sayama, Japan, where both have been built since 2013. With production moving so far away from the US market, the costs for these vehicles could increase, but there's no official word on that from Honda. Angie Nucci, spokesperson for Honda North America, did not discount the idea but just told AutoblogGreen that, "We don't have details on pricing to share at this point." Sales of the green-minded Accords are down so far this year. Through the end of March, the PHEV sold just 45 units, a 35-percent drop from the 69 sold in the first three months of 2014. Things weren't as bad for the non-plug Accord Hybrid, which has sold 2,585 units so far this year compared to 2,781 last year, a seven-percent drop. A year ago, Honda said that US sales were capacity constrained. Related Video:

It turns out Takata isn't willing to expand airbag recall nationally after all

Wed, Dec 3 2014

There have been "approximately 0.000006 failures per air bag deployment, which is far below the failure rate" of most recalls, Takata claims. Takata has seemingly made an about face following reports that it would expand its regional airbag recall into a nationwide repair effort, issuing a scathing, four-page letter rebutting allegations by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and its Office of Defects while simultaneously attacking the government's handling of the situation. The Japanese supplier claims in its letter that the "currently available, reliable information does not support a nationwide determination of a safety defect," arguing that there were "approximately 0.000006 failures per air bag deployment, which is far below the failure rate in the vast majority of the thousands of recalls," The Detroit News reports. Takata then breaks down the two specific incidents mentioned in NHTSA's original recall request letter, a 2005 Honda Accord and 2007 Ford Mustang. Referencing the two crashes, NHTSA Administrator David Friedman said last month "one incident is an anomaly, but two are a trend." The supplier, though, argues the Honda issue is already being covered by that company's soon-to-be-national recall (more on that in a moment). The company then goes on to point out that neither Takata nor NHTSA has been able to analyze the Mustang's airbag inflator, saying that such a lack of examination meant there was "no way to ascertain what actually occurred during the incident, whether any inflator ruptured, and whether any inflator rupture that may have occurred was related to the incidents that led to the current regional campaigns." Takata alleges that NHTSA has disobeyed its own statutes. Takata also took the opportunity to take a few swipes at NHTSA's behavior during the airbag scandal, saying it was "very surprised to receive" a recall request letter because the ODI had yet to even receive the company's responses to a pair of special orders. It also alleged that NHTSA was disobeying its own statute, which says only manufacturers of vehicles and replacement equipment can "decide in good faith whether their products contain a safety related defect," and that the government can only "issue an initial decision that a safety-related defect exists" to those same entities.
