PLEASE SEE EBAY ITEM # 151356738238 FOR REFERENCE BEFORE BIDDING!
This sale is from a previous eBay transaction ( See eBay item #151356738238 ) I was involved in where the seller wasn't upfront with the REAL condition of the car. I won the auction and flew out to pick up the car with the understanding that the car was "HIGHWAY READY" and that the seller had performed a Jiffy Lube inspection (at my requested expense) to prepare it for the long trip back to Utah. The seller arrived with the vehicle on a trailer and after unloading the car, I exchanged keys for payment, and prepared to leave, I noticed a crack along the entire windshield that wasn't disclosed in the eBay auction as well as a baseball sized hole in the driver seat (back part right next to the door). THE FIRST FOUR PHOTOS THAT YOU SEE ARE THE PHOTOS OF THE CAR THAT THE PREVIOUS SELLER "TONYKAW7R" DISPLAYED IN HIS AD. ALL REMAINING PHOTOS ARE ONES THAT I TOOK UPON CLOSER INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE THE NEXT MORNING. Despite these things, I began to drive home to Utah from Memphis, Tennessee. After 100 miles, the check engine light came on. I stopped for gas and checked the oil. There was NO OIL on the dipstick. This tells me that he didn't change the oil out at all. I found immaculate records of oil changes, and other services that the original owner had kept in the glove box. It appears that she did a great job maintaining the vehicle. I had an oil change done, and the service man agreed that no oil change had been done recently and that it was due for one. I proceeded on my way, and then noticed that the car would shift into 5th gear, but the shifter would pop out from time to time. This kept happening until finally it wouldn't go into 5th gear at all! I stopped by a mechanics shop and they said it would be a "repair" fix involving the linkage of the car, tightening a bolt, etc. I got a second opinion, and they also agreed. I then noticed that reverse didn't work either. I didn't get a quote for that repair since I was desperately trying to talk to the seller about what might be wrong and how we could remedy the situation. Sadly, the seller discontinued contact with me and I was stranded in Arkansas without a way to get back home. I am asking for a "BUY IT NOW" price to compensate me for the money I had already sent the seller that I will probably never be able to recover. Ebay states that since the car is over 10 years old it doesn't qualify for the "Buyer's Guarantee" that they offer, and they encouraged me to contact authorities to get my money back from the seller. I will give you a list of things I noticed while having the car checked out. 1. The car shifts GREAT from 1st to 4th! Super smooth. 2. Drink console cover is broken off, but does fit nicely in the little slit next to it. 3. Almost BRAND NEW TIRES!!! 4. A/C is super cold and works great! 5. The rear passenger window rolls slowly - possibly the motor going out. 6. Front bumper doesn't fit exactly on.. Maybe a small accident? 7. The rear passenger door can't be opened from the outside. 8. No CD player in the car - previous seller said there was one... 9. Passenger front door can't be unlocked with key. DOES WORK WITH THE POWER LOCKS THOUGH. 10. Overhead dome light isn't attached firmly and lights don't work. 11. Dingy center console cover. 12. Struts need to be replaced. PLEASE CONTACT ME REGARDING ANY OTHER QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE ABOUT THIS CAR BY TEXTING ME AT 801-288-2399 BEFORE BIDDING! |

Honda profit targets tumble in wake of Takata scandal
Fri, Jan 30 2015Takata's massive airbag inflator recall will likely do some damage to Honda's bottom line this year, according to the Japanese automaker's latest forecasts. The company will allocate 50 billion yen ($425 million) to fulfill costs related to the safety campaigns, Reuters indicates. The decision will reduce estimated operating profit by about 6.5 percent to 720 billion yen ($6.1 billion US) for the fiscal year ending March 31. In addition to lower profits, Honda also cut back its sales estimate for the year to 4.45 million vehicles from the previous 4.62 million, according to Reuters. This was largely due to lower-than-expected demand in Japan. "We are not seeing a big impact on sales in North America from the airbag issue," company vice president Tetsuo Iwamura (pictured above) told Reuters. The decreased forecasts come at the same time as the possibility of another death in a Honda vehicle from the Takata parts. According to Automotive News, a man in Florida died in a crash in his 2002 Accord, but investigators have not yet determined whether the inflator was the cause. However, the vehicle was included in a 2011 recall for the part and was not repaired. The family intends to file a lawsuit alleging the inflator ruptured, spraying metal shrapnel into the driver's neck. Reportedly, the owner was never notified of the recall. While the Takata inflator recall is affecting many companies with alleged links to at least five deaths and 139 injuries worldwide, Honda has it among the worst. Including vehicles covered under the previous regional repair campaign for the issue, the automaker needs to repair roughly 5.4 million vehicles just in the US. Honda has taken action by employing suppliers other than Takata to supply some of its replacement parts for the recall. The business is also reportedly switching airbag suppliers for the next-gen Accord and possibly the 2016 CR-V and Odyssey.
