2008 GMC YUKON SLT

We purchased this Yukon in August 2011 with 27,000 miles that was previously a corporate fleet lease vehicle.  We love having a full size SUV, but we have since purchased a Honda Crosstour and it is our primary get around vehicle and the Yukon just doesn't get driven as often, so there is no sense in having it if we're not driving it regularly.  Also, we have 1 child that just started driving and another that will be driving soon.  The Yukon is a little too nice for them to drive! :)  All miles since we've owned it are hwy miles.

I've purchased every vehicle we've owned in the last 9 years online.  If you're like me at all, then the worry is always if the car will be dud or not accurately described.  EVERY car over 30k miles is going to have some type of flaws and if you're you looking at others on Ebay or online and they don't list them that doesn't mean they're not there...it just means they're not telling you.  I hope my detailed description is appreciated and hopefully it will be recognized that you're purchasing from an honest and transparent seller.  I will try to list everything as honestly and accurately as possible so you know EXACTLY what you're getting.

This Yukon has almost every option the Denali has except for the Denali wheels (which we don't like and is one of the reasons we purchased this SLT), air ride suspension and larger engine.  We didn't have a need for a larger engine and the air suspense we felt wasn't necessary as we don't tow anything and the Yukon already rides well as is.  The only other option it doesn't have are the 2nd row captains chairs.  We debated on getting a Yukon with them, but after sitting in one and seeing how narrow the captains chairs were and the extra seating that we were giving up we chose to stick with the 2nd row bench seat.

It has Navigation, DVD, Entertainment System, Front and Rear heated seats, power flip down 2nd row seats, power lift gate, 4WD, Sunroof, and the front driver and passenger side windows have been tinted to match the rear (but not too dark, you can still see out of the window well).

The Yukon is in EXCELLENT condition.  It doesn't look like a brand new vehicle, but is fairly close and I would compare it more like a very well taken care of vehicle with 30-35k miles. The interior is outstanding, no major creasing in the leather, carpet is in great condition, with a little wear on the floor mats

Mechanical 10/10
The vehicle is in absolutely perfect condition mechanically.  Absolutely no indications of anything wrong...no funny sounds, no leaking, no smoke, etc.  All maintenance has always been done as scheduled and it runs and drives perfectly like a new vehicle!

Interior 9/10
The interior is outstanding, no major creasing in the leather, carpet is in great condition, a little wear on the floor mats BUT I have brand new factory floor mats that will go with the vehicle.  The only reason for a deduction from 10 to 9 is because of the inside of the rear plastic panels. It was this way when we purchased it and were VERY irritated that the dealer didn't disclose it when I specifically asked if there were any scuffs or scratches. There are multiple scuffs in the lower rear side panels where whoever had the vehicle prior stored or moved stuff and it left marks.  You can see these in the pictures. Not a huge deal and is mostly hidden when the 3rd row seats are in, but I wanted to disclose everything I can think of... I can't stand dishonest dealers!

If you notice in any of the pictures of the dash and door panels some streaks those are just from where my son helped clean and their from a ArmourAll wipe - couldn't see it with the naked eye.

Exterior 8.5/10
The paint is in excellent condition, very shiny, no swirls, with some light wear and tear here and there but nothing I feel worthy of pointing out that's not listed here.  There is a barely noticeable dime sized ping on the hood.  If you even notice it and can't live with it then it can very easily be removed by Dent Wizard.

**The primary reason for giving it a 8.5 is my wife parked too close to our Honda and just barely pushed in the passenger side corner of the front bumper. It popped right out and the bumper is in perfect condition, however, it cause the paint to flake off.  The ONLY thing that needs to be done is to have the bumper painted.  I have already priced this ($350) at a body shop I've used to paint show vehicles who will do a perfect job and it will look as good as factory!!! I guarantee no shoddy work.

***If the Buy It Now option is used I will include this being fixed and will have it done before the Yukon is picked up***

Also, since the Yukon does have 70k miles there are multiple very pin-head sized small rock chips typical of any vehicle with similar mileage. If you use the Buy It Now these will be completely gone when the bumper is painted.

History
When I pulled the Carfax before purchasing there was an accident that showed reported on 7/10/2010 which indicated front end damage.  DO NOT BE ALARMED I'm telling you this to give full disclosure and provide an honest description of everything!!  I located the dealer in which the vehicle had been leased and maintained from and got in touch with the service department to get the scoop on what had happened.  NO police report that I could find was filed.  It was simply a vehicle backing into the front bumper (interestingly - the front bumper doesn't seem to be lucky...haha) of the Yukon. NO MAJOR DAMAGE.  They just fixed and painted it.  NOTHING else was touched.  Since the dealer I purchased from gave a 30 day warranty, I took the Yukon to my local Chevy/GMC dealer here just to verify no major work had been done and they verified it.  We've driven the Yukon for 44k miles now and have not had a single issue!! So buy with confidence, but just in case you need a little more I'm more than happy to provide the name and number of our local dealer so that you can verify no other work has been done since we purchased the vehicle. It's in excellent shape!!!!

TRUST
Buy from a trusted seller with 100% feedback.  I've sold multiple vehicles on Ebay and I ALWAYS receive positive feedback.  I list everything I can think of, good and bad, so you know exactly what you're getting - NO SURPRISES!  There is not a single other listing on Ebay that is as descriptive and forthcoming as this listing.  So buy mine with confidence and avoid having any unexpected issues.

Last year I sold my toy (Challenger SRT8) to a buyer in New Zealand.  Due to the buyer's location and shipping the vehicle internationally I went out of my way to accommodate making his purchase as positive and seamless as possible.  I stored the car for over a month, had to get various difficult documents, and worked with shippers (after the first 2 he lined up didn't show up).  I was able to help him have one the only Challengers in the entire country!!  There were many hoops to jump through.  I go out of my way to sell to someone as I would want the buying process to go for myself.

'Killing a Duramax' Gale Banks YouTube series methodically tunes a diesel to death

Thu, Feb 27 2020

Learning or perfecting a skill by watching YouTube videos is known as attending YouTube University. GM Authority picked up on one of the video site's more fascinating courses, hosted by Gale Banks; in a fair world, he should be referred to as Professor Banks when it comes to diesel engines and truck tuning. A few months after GM introduced the updated L5P 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 in the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD that ships with 454 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque, Banks decided he wanted to methodically tune the engine to death. The purpose of the resulting series, called "Killing a Duramax," is to push more power out of the engine in order to discover which parts break and when — or, as Banks puts it, force-feed the Duramax "until the crank hits the street and the heads hit the hood." With that knowledge, Banks can figure out all the weak points on his way to building what he calls a "Superturbo," that being a supercharged, twin-turbo race engine with more than 1,000 hp. What makes the series fascinating is Banks' knowledge, paired with the company's comprehensive iDash engine monitoring system that keeps tabs on a glut of parameters every step of the way. So for instance, you get Banks explaining the differences between inches of mercury and barometric pressure, how those are different from the water content of the air measured in grains, then showing those readouts on the iDash, then explaining in detail how they affect the air density in the Duramax system. The stock Borg-Warner variable turbo gets a lot of airtime — Banks accuses it of being "out to lunch" because he feels it's the weakest link on the engine. That turns into a turbo teardown and a deep explanation of performance pitfalls, such as when air pressure on the turbine begins to diverge from the boost pressure coming from the compressor. Banks says he can keep close tabs on where power's coming from, because the iDash monitors the horsepower contribution provided by the ambient air, the turbo, and the intercooler separately. The major changes so far are a stouter Precision 7675 turbo and TurboSmart wastegate (episode 5), a twin intake (episode 6), a custom liquid-cooled intercooler from a marine engine, a new GM oil cooler and synthetic oil (episode 10), and new injectors (episode 11).

GM to build outgoing Silverado and Sierra until late 2019

Tue, Nov 6 2018

As it has done with previous generations, General Motors is keeping the outgoing versions of its 1500 pickups in production despite the arrival of the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and 2019 GMC Sierra. The production of the previous, K2 generation models will begin to be wound down gradually, according to Automotive News, starting with crew cabs "early next year," and double and regular cab models following during "the early second half of next year." The old model trucks will continue to be built into "late 2019" based on market demand, GM's spokesperson Kim Carpenter said. The Chevrolet will go by the name Silverado LD, with the GMC Sierra designation still to be announced. Some of the outgoing models are built by sharing the assembly work between two GM plants. Partially finished Silverado and Sierra double cab bodies are shipped from Fort Wayne, Ind., to Oshawa, Ont., where the trucks are completed, including receiving paint. This eases the workload in Fort Wayne, where production of the new T1 generation trucks started in July 2018. In January, the Silao plant in Mexico will take on the duties of building new generation regular cab and crew cab trucks. Carpenter also said that the "Oshawa shuttle," as the shared production is called, has been very successful. As a result, 60,000 more trucks will be built than what the original production forecast initially called for. GM's latest quarterly profits, disclosed last week to be $1 billion, have been far higher than expected and will result in full-year profits far higher than what had been predicted in light of steel tariffs. GM isn't the only truck maker taking a similar multi-generation approach for 2019. Both the outgoing and redesigned Ram 1500 are in production, with the previous generation being dubbed Ram 1500 Classic. Related Video:

GM's Ultium EV platform finally shows up in Q3 sales numbers

Wed, Oct 4 2023

General Motors has heralded its Ultium battery-electric platform as the future of its passenger car and truck lineup, but for the first two years of its existence, its impact on the marketplace has been virtually nonexistent. Well, that finally changed in the third quarter of 2023, and while the cars based on this architecture don't represent anywhere near the volume of GM's broader combustion portfolio, we're reaching a point where Ultium products are finally in view (and in the hands) of real-world shoppers. At this point, five U.S.-market Ultium models are in production: the GMC Hummer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Blazer & Silverado EV, and BrightDrop Zevo 600. If you're not familiar with that last one, that's OK; it's a commercial product that you likely won't see on the road for some time. Together, these four combined for 4,257 sales in the third quarter alone — up from 2,663 for the entire first half of the year. While that may not seem like a significant uptick when viewed from altitude, the quarter-to-quarter numbers paint a clearer picture.  Let's toss out the stragglers first. The Chevy Blazer EV, and Silverado EV for example, are barely in production. GM delivered 19 Blazers and 18 Silverados in the third quarter and that's the entirety of their production runs so far. Likewise, GM's BrightDrop Zevo 600 delivery van effectively exists apart from the consumer marketplace, so its contribution of just 35 units can be set aside too. That leaves us the two you've heard of: the GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq — models with high sticker prices and long reservation queues.  Through the second quarter (remember, we're talking six months here), GMC sold 49 Hummer EVs. No typo. In the three months that made up the third quarter, GM moved 1,167 of them. Not only is that a dramatic improvement over the first half, but it's more Hummers than GMC sold in the entirety of 2022 (854). Lyriq's improvement was less eye-popping on paper, but after moving just 122 total units in 2022 and 2,013 of them in the first half of 2023, Cadillac managed to up that figure to 3,018 units in the third quarter alone.  GM is betting its short-term EV future on the Ultium platform, so these trends need to continue if that's going to be a profitable wager.
