2002 GMC Yukon XL 2500 4x4

If you are in need of an affordable 8 passenger vehicle that will tow just about anything, look close at this one. This 2002 GMC Yukon XL 2500 is an exceptionally nice truck, despite the mileage. It has been maintained extremely well and runs and drives as if it had a third of its miles. I bought it from the original owner, who drove over 100 miles per day to work, so the majority of the miles are all highway. This has the 6.0L V-8 and will tow your travel trailer or what ever you have with ease. It has the monster 4L80E transmission. There are NO issues with this truck.

Overall, the truck is in very nice condition. It has been very reliable, even through this horrible winter. Never failed once to start and the 4 wheel drive performed flawlessly. It does have the usual rust just starting to show, but it's still a very presentable looking truck and it wouldn't be a difficult fix if you wanted to clean up the small amount of rust. Interior is still very nice and everything still works as it should. Front and rear heat/air works fine. Stereo sounds great. Heated seats are must on these cold mornings and work very well. Power memory seats and all of the other usual amenities found with the SLT trim package.

What I have done to this truck since I've owned it is:
* New water pump
* All new brakes, front and rear including new rotors and ceramic pads
* New front hub bearings
* New front shocks
* New inner & outer tie rod ends
* New pitman arm & mount
* New oil cooler lines
* New steering stabilizer
* New 4WD positioning motor
* New 4WD control switch
* New fuel injectors - all 8
* New plugs and wires

I have mixed feelings about selling this truck. I like it and it's just a nice running, driving truck that has no issues. I would drive this to Florida tomorrow if needed. But we just no longer need this type of vehicle. Having said that, I am NOT desperate to sell it, so please don't make some stupid offer like $2500. I have a little room to work with the price, but let's keep it reasonable. If this truck had 150M miles on it, it would sell for around $10,000. My price has taken everything in to consideration. AND, Kelly Blue Book puts the value of this truck at $6300.00 WITH the miles, so my price is already reasonable. Also, even though this is a very nice, reliable vehicle, it is being sold AS-IS, with no warranty, expressed or implied.  This is a 14 year old vehicle with over 200M miles on it.  Please keep your expectations realistic.  If you are expecting a pristine vehicle that will never require any attention or repairs, this may not be the right vehicle for you.  If this is the case, simply add about $70,000 to my asking price, stop in at your local GMC Dealership and pick out a brand new one.  Yes, that IS what these cost new.  Perhaps that will offer some perspective.

Thanks for looking and if you are nearby, you are welcome and encouraged to stop by for a personal inspection.

2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Road Test | The everyday tool

Wed, Nov 11 2020

Bold take: The GMC Canyon is the most well-rounded midsize truck. Admittedly, “well-rounded” is a lukewarm compliment, but the Canyon does nearly everything well. It is not the flashiest, which is undeniably the Jeep Gladiator. Or the most comfortable, which is the Honda Ridgeline. But for those seeking a midsize truck that looks like a truck, drives like a truck and has a solid interior, the Canyon is the right formula. We would test the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 for a week and find that itÂ’s pleasant, capable and sturdy off-road. We would haul a bookshelf in the bed, get dirty during a woodsy soft-road jaunt and pile up the miles running around town. In short, itÂ’s exactly what most need in a midsize truck.  The AT4 model is new for 2021, and it replaces the All-Terrain model, a move GMC is rolling out across its lineup. The AT4 adds an off-road-tuned suspension with hill-descent control, beefy 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires wrapped around 17-inch aluminum wheels, standard four-wheel drive with locking rear differential and a transfer case skid plate. The AT4 punches up the CanyonÂ’s appearance with red tow hooks, dark chrome elements and a bigger grille thatÂ’s similar to the SierraÂ’s. The Canyon Denali, which was also refreshed for ‘21, is showier, but the AT4 trim feels cooler with its understated off-road vibes. Considering this, we head out for an afternoon drive along a familiar route through DetroitÂ’s northern suburbs. The Canyon is a solid daily driver. The 3.6-liter V6 rated at 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque is widely used in General Motors vehicles. ItÂ’s powerful and actually sounds pretty good — even throaty — in GMCÂ’s midsize truck. Our passengers are surprised to be pulled back in their seats during hard acceleration, and the eight-speed automatic transmission is well-calibrated for the many jobs the Canyon is called upon to perform. This powertrain, standard in the AT4 and Denali trims, is a step up from the 2.5-liter inline-four and six-speed auto offered on the lower models. ItÂ’s worth it. The 2.8-liter Duramax diesel is an option on higher-spec Canyons, and its 369 lb-ft of torque is tantalizing. For everyday use, take the V6. Our tester with the gasoline V6 and four-wheel drive can tow as much as 7,000 pounds, has a maximum payload of 1,609 pounds and has respectable fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

GM confirms 2015 Silverado, Sierra to get 8-speed automatic

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

When viewed alongside the next Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500, there is one thing that seems to be missing from the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Where the F-150 will rely on turbocharging and aluminum architecture and the Ram sports an eight-speed automatic and an air suspension, the General Motors twins lack a big, calling-card feature. They're very good, very refined trucks, but one could argue that they're not terribly innovative.
And while it might not be as flashy a feature as air suspension or a lightweight skin, the Silverado and Sierra will get their own eight-speed automatic for 2015, a transmission that will be paired with the company's Ecotec3 6.2-liter V8. The new cogswapper will also find its way into the GMC Yukon Denali, but for now, there's no indication why the Cadillac Escalade, Suburban, Tahoe and standard Yukon are being left out.
According to GM, the new gearbox is about the same size and weight as the current Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed. By the time the new powertrain combination enters production late this year, the EPA will almost certainly have gotten around to certifying the vehicles' fuel efficiency. Until then, feel free to speculate. The current Silverado with the 6.2 and six-speed auto returns 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway. How much do you think the eight-speed will improve those figures? Scroll down for the official press blast from General Motors, and then head into Comments.
