Summary

This vehicle is in good condition and drives great. Seats 8 comfortably, with plenty of cargo space remaining. Third row seating is removable for even more cargo space. There is also an adjustable luggage rack if you need storage on top of the vehicle.

CNG
I purchased this vehicle with an existing aftermarket CNG (compressed natural gas) system already installed. It will hold up to 7 gallons of CNG (using a 3600 psi pump), and drives great on either gasoline or CNG. CNG is currently as low as 90 cents a gallon where I live in Oklahoma, with a growing number of stations available. Check the station locator at cngprices.com for prices and locations near you. CNG is not only inexpensive, but is a clean-burning fuel that is mostly sourced domestically here in the US. It's easy on the environment and on your engine. If you have a home refueling station, it's probably even cheaper to fill it up. The tanks are mounted in the rear, underneath the vehicle where the spare tire goes. For this reason, they don't infringe on cargo space, but the spare tire will need to be carried in the cargo area if desired. We have only taken it on longer trips, and usually leave it in the garage for driving around town.

Features and Condition
The SLT trim means it has leather, and power everything. It has had several gaskets replaced recently, including the main seal between the engine and transmission, and other routine maintenance has been performed. The CNG system was also recently checked and tuned up. The AC blows cold, the heater blows hot, and the radio and CD player work great. The tires are all relatively new with good tread (one was replaced last month due to road hazard damage) and the rest are less than a year old. The windshield was replaced a few months ago due to a crack. There was a video system that played VHS tapes on a drop down screen, but it doesn't work anymore, although it may be possible to install a DVD system using the existing screen.

There are a few cosmetic issues, displayed in the pictures. There is a dent near the gas tank filler door. It was caused by a person falling on the vehicle, so there is no paint damage. May be able to fix it for cheaper than normal using paintless dent repair (PDR) if desired. It's never bothered me enough to mess with it. The other big one is a hole in the second row leather seat, near the passenger side back door. There are also some minor cosmetic things, such as radio knobs missing.

Overall, this is a workhorse of a family or adventure vehicle, made surprisingly economical when driven on CNG.

Update

I forgot to mention a few things. It includes the towing package, so it comes with a trailer hitch. The CNG fill nozzle is located behind the rear license plate, which is why you don't see it on the side of the vehicle. And the car comes from a 100% smoke-free environment. Also, I'll just let you know that the reserve is $7500, which is the blue book value before taking into consideration the value of the CNG system, with its potentially increased engine life and decreased fuel costs. Good luck!

GM recalling 22K Silverado and Sierra trucks for seat issue

Wed, 09 Oct 2013

General Motors will recall 21,721 of its new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups over front seats that could move if the vehicle is hit from behind. Affected vehicles all feature manual adjustments for the two front seats, according to a report from Automotive News.
Of the nearly 22,000 vehicles covered under the action, the overwhelming majority - 18,972 -- were sold in the United States. A further 2,575 were sold in Canada, while 103 were shipped south of the border to Mexico. Finally, another 71 were sold outside North America altogether. As of right now, there are no reports of injuries due to the defect.
Naturally, Chevy and GMC dealers will make the repairs free of charge, although it's not clear as of this writing if GM will be notifying owners or just addressing the issue at the truck's first service.

2021 GMC Canyon trims overhauled, SL and SLT disappear

Sun, Feb 2 2020

Until this year, the GMC Canyon has offered six trims in two drivetrains: SL, a base model simply called Canyon, SLE, All Terrain, SLT, and Denali, with all but the SL available in either 2WD or 4WD. GM Authority credits "dealer sources" for news that the 2021 Canyon has had its trim steps overhauled. According to the chart in the report, the SL and SLT are no more, the base Canyon gets replaced by a trim called Elevation Standard, and SLE turns into Elevation. We already know that All Terrain has given way to AT4, while Denali remains in the top spot. Trim content doesn't change with the names, but there's no equivalent for the SLT trim in terms of spec. The GMC site lists the 2020 SLE and SLT on the same page, and a shopper must burrow into the spec comparison page to figure out the differences. The SLT only comes with the 3.6-liter V6 and eight-speed transmission, and makes features like remote start, climate control, heated mirrors, heated seats, hitch guidance, and a spare tire standard equipment. It also chromes the exterior door handles, and offers a Cocoa/Dune leather interior that can't be had on the SLE. It's possible the SLT's $4,700 premium over the SLE led more buyers to start with the SLE and add the engine and options they wanted.   We have a number of questions that we'll need to wait for GMC's official announcement to answer. The 2020 Canyon offers an Elevation Edition package for $650 that adds a black grille with body-colored surround, and 18-inch Satin Graphite wheels in all-terrain rubber. There's also a California Elevation Special Edition for $1,195 with all-weather floor liners, assist steps, and mud flaps. They could be optioned on the SLE but not the SLT. With the addition of two Elevation trims, we'll find out if the packages get renamed or go away. Separately, CarBuzz spotted a 2021 GM Fleet Order Guide that mentions a leveling kit option, LPO Code SQS, for the Canyon and the Chevrolet Colorado. We noted the inclusion of a leveling kit in the coming Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Package. According to the order guide, the option can be ordered only for the Canyon AT4 trim, but it's not clear if that's an a la carte choice or if buyers must order the Off-Road Performance Package. On the Chevy, the rake-removal equipment can be had with the Colorado 4x2 Z71 or the 4x4 Work Truck, LT, and Z71. Related Video:

2020 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban and GMC Yukon all spied with production lights

Fri, Mar 22 2019

One of our spy photographers just caught a smattering of full-size GM SUVs out testing, including the Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban and GMC Yukon. Previous spy photos of the next-generation of these big GM SUVs have revealed that GM is going with an independent rear suspension design, and these shots confirm the news once again with our best look at the hardware yet. Check them out from the rear, lined up like ducks in a row to see the beefy control arms down there. This will undoubtedly give the big SUVs a more compliant ride, and should bring it back into touch with the refinement from the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. The new bits we get to see with these shots are production headlights and taillights that are shaping up to look pretty neat. Most distinguishable are the GMC Yukon's LED DRLs. These look a lot like the C-shaped LEDs outlining the headlights on the Sierra, but they have an extra LED strip on top of the C. The parts of the taillights that we can see look significantly different than that found on the Sierra, showing GM is planning on having a great deal of differentiation there. We can sort of see through the mesh covering the grille to what appears to be a classic horizontal bar style front opening. Chevy is predictably dialing the crazy LED strip design back for the Tahoe and Suburban. The parts that are lit up look a whole lot like the headlight fixtures on the 2019 Silverado. That truck uses a stack of lights with the actual headlights separated from the DRLs. We can see the same thing going on here, with the headlight up top and curved LED DRL strip sitting below. It's tough to say if the designs are exactly alike, but we expect to see an extremely Silverado-esque look once all the camouflage comes off. Chevrolet's taillight design differs from its donor truck like the GMC, showing off a curved, vertical series of LEDs out back. Once production lights start popping up like this, we know the vehicle is moving closer to its end game. A reveal sometime later this year could be in the cards for GM's next batch of full-size SUVs. It certainly needs them quick, as Ford rockets ahead with increased Expedition production announced earlier this week.
