Hello everyone, and thank you for looking at my auction.

Selling my favorite vehicle of all time only because I have started another magazine cover project truck.

This is the JUNE 2013 FOUR WHEELER MAGAZINE cover truck, IT IS ALSO THE 2 PAGE FEATURE TRUCK AND HAS A TOTAL OF 4 PAGES OF WRITE UP.

Senior editor in Chief of Four Wheeler magazine and 25 year veteran of the magazine Ken Brubaker printed in the article is this the " COOLEST BARN FIND EVER"...

Here are the details..

Very original 72 GMC Suburban factory 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive with its original blue and yellow CA plates on it.  I have the original owners manual as well as some other original factory paper work.

I bought this truck from the original owner a few years ago and have been slowly working on it to bring it to the level which its at today.

The truck has its original small block motor in it which runs great, the only modification is a HEI conversion, it can sit for months and will start up every time.. the motor, interior and the body are where the originality stops.

List of all custom work done, all of which has less than a 1000 miles on it, we drove this Suburban to Johnson Valley from our shop in Burbank to the magazine shoot, put the truck through every obstacle that they had for us and drove it home, it made the 250 mile round trip effortlessly with 4 people and all of our gear.

Finally the list.

DANA 60 front differential with 4:56 gears and a custom POWER LOCK, the diff is all new, including gears, bearings, seals, rotors, brakes etc.. it also has a very rare set of SPICER HUBS ON IT.  The front diff cover is a powder coated Fab Fours heavy duty cover  and it looks awesome.

The front diff also has a double high steer steering set up with all GM Truck Center hand made super duty arm, and super heavy duty spring plates.  The steering gear box is a new LEE manufacturing custom box built to handle any abuse.   The set up is absolutely bullet proof.

I also eliminated the rag joint on the steering shaft and built a custom shaft adapted from a Ford F-350 for this truck.

The front suspension consists of custom made front spring hangers with custom made extra long springs and poly urethane bushings, the drive is amazing and the articulation is out of this world.

The rear axle is a extra wide Corp. 14 bolt also with 4:56 gears and a Detroit locker, with massive 1 ton drum brakes.. It is also all completely gone through and it also has a Fab Fours diff cover on it.

Rear suspension consists of a pair of super nice custom made 66" long high travel springs complete with a ORD shackle flip kit and custom hangers.

The truck has hydro boost brakes and it stops this massive rig on a dime.

The transmission is a new NV4500 5 speed manual with the compound low 6 to 1 compound low first gear and a 5th gear overdrive.

The transfer case is a freshly rebuilt NP 205 gear driven transfer case with a custom adaptor to the massive 5 speed manual trans.

Both front and rear drive shafts have massive 14 10 U-joints at each end, in case you didn't know thats the same size U-joints they use in school buses...

The interior is mostly stock, I custom made a tilt column for a manual transmission truck with no shifter knob, everyone is always amazed to see it.

All the gauges work other than the speedo, it was never a big concern.

The truck has a beautiful uncut dash.

The exterior of the truck is in good original shape, the fenders have had some trimming to clear the 37 inch tires. Don't forget the paint is original and it is not perfect.

The truck will come with a original set of BLACK powder coated steel wheels and GMC hub caps.

The current set of tires and rims consist of 17 inch black powder coated steelies with 37 inch TOYO MT's on them.

The Suburban also has a custom World Famous 4x4 ( our sister company ) front winch bumper complete with 1/2 inch bolted to the frame pull points and a just fully rebuilt/restored very hard to find WARN 8274 stand up winch, and a pair of 5 inch fog lights.

The rear bumper is also a World Famous 4x4 unit with 1/2 inch pull points and a receiver.

The set up is beautiful and very functional.

The Conferr roof rack has 4 forward facing PIAA harsh weather lighs and 2 PIAA rear facing work lights along with a High lift jack and folding shovel, fire extinguisher etc..

There is also a mounted stud for a spare tire and wheel which will come with the truck.

There are tons of other details but you get the idea, you can call me or email me if you need more info.

I have a clear CA title on hand and the truck is currently registered here in CA through 2014.

We will assist with any shipping help you might need.  We have accounts with several shipping companies with our assigned agents.

I will require full payment within 3 working days of auctions end, so please have your funds ready before you bid.

This truck is being sold in AS IS condition.

Thank you for looking and good luck.

Hacker jury rigs Amazon Echo into voice-controlled remote start

Wed, Mar 30 2016

A lot of automakers have smartphone apps to start, lock, or unlock a connected car. Some automakers will even let you do that with a smartwatch. Then, there's YouTube user Jryanishere, who decided to use Amazon's chatty Echo voice-controlled, internet-connected information thingy. Yes, we said thingy, because we aren't really sure how else to describe the Echo. While the Echo system has received a hearty ad campaign – featuring Alec Baldwin asking Amazon's virtual assistant, Alexa, questions and ordering socks – we think this might be the first really useful thing we've seen it do. Using a MacBook, a Raspberry Pi, an Echo, an OBDLink plug-in, and his 4G LTE-equipped GMC, Jryanishere has basically made a voice-controlled remote-start system. Now, like so many voice-controlled things, this strikes us more of an extravagance than something that's functionally worthwhile. After all, the remote start on the a GMC keyfob isn't exactly rocket science. You can check out the Echo in action up top. Jryanishere gives a pretty thorough breakdown of how the setup works in the video above, but if you're at all into this sort of technological mischief, you'll want to watch (and check out the hilariously detailed blog explaining the job). How the Ram Multifunction Tailgate compares to Ford, GMC, Honda

Wed, Feb 6 2019

Ram just announced its Multifunction Tailgate — a descriptive if not very creative name. It's an asymmetrical barn-door arrangement, which can both fold down like a conventional tailgate or swing open like a gate. There's a new bed step, but unlike Ford or GM, the step isn't part of the tailgate itself. Rather, it kicks out from under the bumper (as opposed to out from under the driver's side of the rear bumper in its previous incarnation). So let's just focus on the tailgate functionality. A video of the Ram Multifunction Tailgate in action is above. For one, either of the swinging tailgate sections can be opened independently. They open to a full 88 degrees. In conventional flip-down mode, the tailgate works just like a normal one, too, with a 2,000-pound rating. The bottom line is that while it gives a variety of types of access to the load area, it doesn't "do" anything else. It's a $995 option on any Ram 1500. Its closest analogue is the Honda Ridgeline, which works basically the same way, but on that truck the tailgate swings as one piece. And the Honda's load rating isn't as hefty as the Ram's tailgate: 300 pounds. As Honda says, that's sufficient to hold the weight of the part of an ATV hanging out of the bed, or something similar, but it's a lighter-duty unit (and a lighter-duty truck) than the Ram's overall. Let's also get Ford's one-trick tailgate out of the way before comparing to the more analogous, and complicated, GM MultiPro. A bit of trivia: Ford's optional Tailgate Step is actually designed and supplied by Multimatic, better known as the outfit that builds the Ford GT and produces the DSSV spool-valve shocks. This step has been available for years. It pulls out of the top edge of the tailgate when the tailgate is lowered, deploying a single step. A separate handle pulls out from beside the step and flips up, giving a handhold. While it was initially (and infamously) mocked by competitors, with load floor heights as high as they are it's better than toting around a stepstool. It's currently a $375 standalone option. Now we get to the GMC MultiPro tailgate, the most complicated and multi-functioned around. It's essentially a tailgate within a tailgate, with a fold-out stopper that deploys from the inner tailgate. This gives it several functions depending on the position of all the parts. It can still be used like a normal tailgate, dropping down at the push of a button or using the key fob.
