i have a 1972 gmc 3/4 ton with 7" of lift It has the seirra grande package and is fully loaded the truck origanly came from arizona and is rust free the frame is excellent can still see the vin number in it. It has almost every option available for that year including tilt a/c tinted windows rear slider factory am/fm radio triple fuel tanks built in toolbox in the bed i did add a set of 68 origanal buddy bucket seats instead of the bench seat, i also swapped the origanal 350 for a 454 , his has been an on going project for me for the last few years and unfortunatly i am moving and can not take it with me and need to sell it, as you can see in the pics it is very dusty from being in my garage (as it has been in there since day 1 here in NH) but i have every part to finish the truck as well as many extras like extra tilt column center consoles dash clusters moldings etc... you could easily make your money back on the parts i just dont have the time to do it. I know what the truck and parts are worth so no need to low ball. I have way over what i am asking for it into it Also have NOS parts for it as well.

If you are local you are more than welcome to come look at it before the auction ends as the pics do not do it justice. I have all the paint for the truck as well (over $2000 just in paint have the reciepts) that  goes with the truck if the buyer wants it it is charcoal grey mettalic)

On Feb-13-13 at 09:28:15 PST, seller added the following information:

do to all the questions i will try and answer the most common The 454 came from an 89 chevy suburban 3/4 ton so yes it is throttle body with edelbrock aluminum intake the wiring has all been changed over to meet the 72 controls dash cluster etc... The computer was mounted behind the glove box but when all together is unoticed did not have to cut down the glove box. The motor had 69k origanal miles when i removed it (was purchased from an older gentleman) However i stripped it down everything was in excellent shape i replaced all the gaskets put chrome racing oil pan and pick up aluminum intake MT valve covers and painted it I had it running on short burst last summer but it still needs the valves adjusted, Has a Brand new (though 3 years old now purchased from advance auto parts $800+) turbo 400 mated to the 205 transfercase. the drive shafts are not in yet. The whole truck + some is in my garage and i can't move around as i wont put any part outside i took some more pics but it will not let me load them. The bed is standing up in back of the truck as i have not had the time to work on that yet. No rust but has some dents and needs some love it has the steal floor all cross members are good I sprayed the inside with beliner color matched just like the under side of the inner fenders ( you  can see in the pics i have posted now.) The bed is the orange and white one in back of the truck the origan color of the truck. I have all the parts to finish the truck The hood is leaning against it covered by an old blanket as it has been painted (from the cab forward has Under side of cab has been sprayed with color matched bedliner as well so it would never rust going forward. i have aprox 1/2 gallon of paint left (gallon when mixed) for the bed and then i was going to shoot the entire truck over one more time before clearing it. I have a a 8x8 closet in the back of my garage that is full of parts for it including extras like 2 sets of 3 blk seat belts roof liners dash pads moldings I have 3 tailgates for the truck the origanal is on the bed which is sown on dollies right now so i cant remember what kind of shape it is in but it has the woodgrain band gmc ( i was going to leave off all the woodgrain stuff and just go with the chrome upper moldings so i have 2 GMC embossed style tailgates for it 1 has no moldings and has no rust ( bought out of california) and the other has the chrome moldings with a dime size rust spot (out of wisconsin if i remember) I could talk all day about it but dont want you getting board the cab was completly stripped and sprayed with the paint inside and out and all around. 1 cab corner was replaced do to a dent not rust it creased the metal and could not be straightened all the rest of the cab is origanal metal.

Despite strong profits, GM still fighting flat market share

Fri, Jan 17 2014

Looking at the progress General Motors has made since it entered bankruptcy, it's easy to forget that the company still has a long way to go before it's the juggernaut it once was. A recent report from Reuters points out that, while GM is making money, it isn't making any gains in terms of US market share. Quite the opposite, really. Consider this factoid: In 1963, nearly half of the cars sold in the United States were from Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC or Pontiac. Now, the company's US market share is stagnant at 17.9 percent. That same number is half of just Chevy's 1963 market share. This is all despite GM going on a binge replacing or updating its models. "Market share increases are not instantaneous," Mark Reuss told Reuters at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. "We've got a lot of baggage. Don't underestimate what people though of us, or these brands, through these hardships and 30 years." The reasons for the stagnant market share are numerous. Reuters points out that retooling of factories and a focus on limiting incentives are both good things for profit, but not necessarily for market share. There's also the troubling turnover of the brand's marketing department. These issues don't change the fact that Chevrolet has lost 1.4 percent of its market share in two years, and that Cadillac - arguably GM's most improved brand overall - has lost 1.2 percent in the same period. Part of that can be blamed on GM's avoidance of fleet sales in favor of more profitable customer sales. "Our focus has really been on retail and that's where we've got the growth," said Alan Batey, GM's interim global marketing boss. "We want to grow GM and that means growing market share and profits, but it's not at all costs," Reuss said. 400,000 Chevy, GMC pickups recalled: Side airbags can explode

Fri, Jul 9 2021

DETROIT — General Motors is recalling more than 400,000 pickup trucks in the U.S. because the side airbags can explode without warning and spew parts into the cabin. The recall covers certain 2015 and 2016 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. Documents posted Friday by U.S. safety regulators say the airbag inflator can rupture or the end cap can fly off on both sides of the trucks. Documents say three inflators ruptured in 2015 Silverados last month, one in Florida and two in Texas. All three trucks were unoccupied at the time, and GM says it has no reports of injuries. Dealers will replace both side airbag modules. The company says it has a limited number of replacement parts available. Owners will be notified starting Aug. 16 and they'll get a second letter when parts are widely available. About 9,000 of the trucks were recalled last year for the same problem. The company says a manufacturing defect allowed moisture into the inflator while it was being manufactured, causing corrosion. The inflators were made in Mexico by Joyson Safety Systems, the company that took over Takata. Back in April, Silverado and Sierra were among nearly 750,000 GM vehicles in a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigation into non-deploying driver-side airbags. That investigation is ongoing. Takata is responsible for the largest recalls in automotive history, covering about 100 million inflators among 19 major automakers worldwide, including about 67 million inflators in the United States. Nineteen deaths in the U.S. have been attributed to Takata inflators. Only about 50 million of the 67 million recalled inflators in the U.S. have been repaired. This latest recall is a good reminder to go to NHTSA's recalls website and enter your car's VIN. Millions of recalled vehicles still pose a danger to their owners. Yours could be one of them.   Recalls Chevrolet GM GMC airbag Takata airbag recall

5 things we love about the 2019 GMC Sierra AT4

Wed, Mar 28 2018

NEW YORK — The 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 proves that GM's upmarket truck and SUV brand is getting serious about offering rough-and-tumble capability to rival the Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra, Ram 1500 and Nissan Titan. Until the Sierra AT4 rolled onstage at a media event in lower Manhattan, prior to this year's New York Auto Show, the GMC brand had been more focused on luxury touches like fancy chrome wheels and posh interiors — no surprise, considering the upscale SLT and Denali trim levels account for the vast majority of GMC sales. So now GMC wants to get muddy and adventurous? Well, yes and no. The AT4 adds hardware that'll take truck buyers off the beaten path, though this GMC isn't anywhere close to being a Spartan, no-frills work truck. To better explain, let's look at five key features we love about the 2019 GMC Sierra AT4: More than stickers and chrome The Sierra AT4 isn't a cynical marketing ploy, there is some true all-terrain toughness built into this pickup truck. A factory-installed lift kit raises the AT4 by two inches, while Rancho monotube shocks, a locking rear differential, a two-speed transfer case and standard all-wheel drive prove this GMC can dare to venture off paved surfaces — though you might risk getting mud and muck on the truck's handsome 18- or 20-inch alloy wheels. Power and economy The Sierra AT4 comes standard with a 5.3-liter V8 coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. In the standard Sierra 1500, this engine produces 355 horsepower. GMC didn't mention engine specs here in New York, though it's possible the AT4 might get a small power bump. This engine should be plenty for most truck buyers, though GMC offers two tempting alternatives. These include a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six, along with a 6.2-liter V8. Both motors are paired to stop-start fuel-saving systems, along with a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Carbon fiber cool factor The GMC Sierra's available carbon-fiber cargo bed, called CarbonPro in GMC-speak, trims 62 pounds of weight, as compared to a traditional all-steel bed. This slick feature uses carbon composites for interior panels and, judging from GMC's videos of burly bricks and huge hammers being thrown into a CarbonPro cargo bed, it should prove more than up to the task of ... well, having someone throw bricks and hammers into the cargo area.
