Up for auction is my 1966 GMC Suburban.  It has a three speed column shift transmission  I haven't been able to check

the engine with the VIN numbers but believe to be the original engine.  I've found the engine is the later version 305E.
The design was for a strong torque engine with less speed ( 58 - 60 mph max ).  The engine runs very well and starts every
time.  Will need to have a complete tune-up which I haven't been able to get around to.  It has no power steering, power
brakes.  The brakes will also need to be gone through as it looses some fluid over time.  It doesn't seem to have any engine
leaks that I can find.

Body :
There is one grape-fruit size dent on Lh quarter panel just in front of the rear bumper as shown in picture and has some of
the usual rust problems lower fenders behind wheel on both sides.  Also rust in front of the rear wheels both sides lower
quarter panels.  As shown in some of the pictures the hood also has rust issues around the seams and will need to be repaired
soon. Also rust / pitting at lower, center area on both sides of rear window.  It seems a previous owner had it sanded and
primed in gray but never got around to applying the top coat.  The front grill is getting pretty rusty particularly around the
headlights.  The rocker panels on both sides will need to be replaced. Shocks need to be replaced.

Interior :
The condition is really excellent when compared to many suburbans of this era.  Metal work is straight, clean and rust free.
The instrument panel has not been cut or chopped up.  The seats were upholstered sometime in the resent past and are nice.
Passenger window operates while the driver window is difficult to roll down or up.  No issues opening / closing the doors and
vent windows operate.  The heater does not work and looks to have had an after-market AC unit installed however the condenser
has been removed with many other parts to the system.   Side windows both have the locking clips.  The floor is really solid.
The gas gauge does not work and I believe the temperature gauge also does not work.  The speedometer works but kind of
"jumpy" also has some noise probably from the cable being worn out.  Purchased period correct GMC AM radio.

Exterior :
Wipers barely work and will need to be repaired.  Lights work with the exception of the turn signal switch in the steering column
and believe the cam needs to be replaced.  Will need all weather strips replaced.  Tires are pretty old.

I've driven it on short trips, maybe 6 mile diameter around my property.  I wouldn't trust the brakes to go much further from my
house.  Does have clear title.  This vehicle does not have any type of warranty.  Does not include spare tire.  Crack in windshield
on driver side but does not impare vision.

This suburban is always a crowd favorite and gets a lot of attention any time I take it on the road.  It will make an excellent
beginner to a complete, frame off restoration or for a relatively basic refurbishment.  Things have changed for me and won't have
an opportunity to spend much time on it and have decided to sell to someone that will enjoy bringing " GUS " back to his former
glory.

I can possibly help with loading the suburban but transportation / shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.

Ranking full-size pickup trucks by the size of their discounts

Tue, Oct 20 2020

Each and every month, full-size pickup trucks dominate the new-car sales reports in America. It's been that way for years — the Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling vehicle for 38 consecutive years — and it's not going to change any time soon. With that in mind, we've compiled this list of discounts on brand-new full-size pickup trucks using data provided by Truecar, including their average retail prices, average transaction prices and discounts in dollars and percentage off list price. We've also created a visualization of the best deals Americans are scoring on the three best-selling models in America. If you're looking for the absolute biggest discount you can find on a new truck, look no further than your nearest Ram dealership, then scour the lot for a leftover 2019 1500 model. Buyers are averaging nearly 13% off the cost of the 2019 Ram, paying an average transaction cost of $41,667. That's $6,071 off the average retail price, which equals the best truck deal in October. The 2020 edition isn't discounted nearly as far, averaging $2,852 off for an average transaction price of $48,904. The next best deal is on the 2019 Ford F-150; its average transaction price of $43,064 equals $3,843 off its sticker price. The 2020 F-150's $2,810 discount means buyers are paying around $47,300. They should know, though, that a brand-new model is coming for 2021, so we'd expect bigger discounts on remaining 2020 inventory in the coming months. Moving to General Motors, the best deal you'll find is on leftover 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500s, which are selling for an average of $47,043. That's $2,852 off the sticker price. Interestingly, 2020 Silverados are seeing slightly lower transaction prices at $46,009, but with a smaller average discount of $1,693. The 2020 GMC Sierra is mechanically similar to the Chevy, but aimed at buyers who want a bit more luxury. That's reflected in the 2020 Sierra 1500's average transaction price of $54,491, which is $2,131 off its sticker. If pickup trucks aren't your thing, take a look at this list of the best new car deals in America based on the percentage discount off their suggested asking prices here. GM to idle Indiana truck plant for two weeks over chip shortage

Fri, Mar 25 2022

WASHINGTON —General Motors said Friday it will idle for two weeks in April an assembly plant in Indiana that builds pickup trucks, over ongoing semiconductor chip shortages. The Detroit automaker said it will halt production at its Fort Wayne assembly plant, which builds the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, for two weeks starting April 4. "There is still uncertainty and unpredictability in the semiconductor supply base, and we are actively working with our suppliers to mitigate potential issues moving forward," GM said Friday. The automaker said this is its first semiconductor-related full-size truck production downtime since August. GM noted that overall it has "seen better consistency in semiconductor supply through the first quarter compared to last year as a whole. This has translated into improvement in our production and deliveries during the first three months of the year." GM Chief Executive Officer Mary Barra met with some lawmakers on Capitol Hill this week, including Republican Senator Todd Young of Indiana. GM is backing a bill in Congress to provide $52 billion in government subsidies to boost U.S. semiconductor manufacturing. GM said that legislation could help "alleviate the ongoing shortage that continues to impact U.S. automotive manufacturing." (Reporting by David Shepardson; editing by Jonathan Oatis) Related video:

GMC Safari GT, a rad-era hauler with custom-van swagger

Fri, May 14 2021

The GMC Safari van, along with its Chevy Astro sibling, performed yeoman service ferrying passengers and hauling cargo for two decades starting in 1985. But one special variant, the Safari GT — and, at Chevrolet, the Astro RS — added an unexpected dollop of swagger. Those vans had a custom look that was straight out of the '70s "sin bin" era. One of those Safari GTs is up for grabs right now, fittingly, on the RADforsale auction site. The option package at both GMC and Chevrolet was coded BYP, the GT Sport Package, and it appears to have been offered from 1990 to 1994. Its defining element was the two-tone paint treatment shown here, with black on the lower body and the greenhouse, and your choice of white, silver, blue, gold, or red as the main body color. Blanked out rear quarter windows and "simulated air exhaust louvers" behind the middle side windows added a further bit of style (long-wheelbase XT versions skipped that flourish). Also included were a front air dam, blacked-out grille, aluminum rally wheels, and a sport suspension. This 1991 Safari GT appears to have been further sportified with a lower-body aero kit, a rooftop spoiler, and aftermarket wheels. This rear-wheel-drive, standard-wheelbase model is powered by a 4.3-liter V6 hooked to a four-speed automatic transmission. It has traveled a relatively low 126,000 miles and looks to be in exceptionally good shape — particularly given that most of these vans lived a hard life. At this writing, bidding stands at $5,100 with bidding to end May 21. That suggests this Astro GT will bring a strong price — but if you want one, you may be hard-pressed to find another.
