I am selling this Torino Cobra at NO RESERVE due to a recent and very unexpected medical condition. I personally feel that you will never find another one that is this original and documented at this price. I will also be selling my original drivetrain, original body panel, Tuxedo Black 1969 L78 4-speed El Camino SS as well in the near future.
To start with, let me first
say that I understand that there is a ton of photos and information in my ad.
OK, so there is more than a ton with (211) photos (1) video. Anyways, I also
understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not
buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard
earned money, I feel that there is never too much information or too many
photos. As to myself, I am not a
dealer, just a (63) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I
recently retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine having
worked there for just shy of (40) years. I am also a respected member of my
community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that
prospective buyers will have some idea as to whom they are dealing with. Also,
please check out my eBay feedback which is 100% with (1,033) transactions. Many
of those transactions were been muscle cars having personally owned over 65 muscle car era "pieces of art" since the 70's which I have sold to individuals all over the
country as well as Canada, England, Switzerland and Australia. Let’s start with a quiz about the year 1970
to test your memory. · Who was the President? · Who won the World Series? · What was the Motor Trend Car of the Year? Answers?? · President: Richard
Nixon · World Series Champs: Baltimore
Orioles · Motor Trend Car of the Year: That’s right, the Ford Torino So let’s get this out of the way up front.
The 1970 Ford Torino was an excellent car on its own. Add the Cobra, Ram Air
and 4-Speed options. Then order the super popular Calypso Coral paint, and you
have a true classic muscle car. Some
brief history on the Torino Cobra: In 1970 Ford introduced the Torino Cobra. Replacing the willing but
aged 428-cid V-8 was a new 429-cid mill. This was not the semi-hemi Boss 429
engine, but a fresh design with thin-wall construction and canted-valve heads. The
429 Cobra Jet was rated at a whopping 370 horsepower right out of the box, with
probably additional horsepower (not reported) added when ordered with the "ram air"
shaker hood with functional air scoop. This was basically a SportsRoof Torino
GT in fighting trim, with exposed headlamps, blackout hood, and available
muscle-car touches like rear-window slats and fat Polyglas F60x15s on
seven-inch-wide Magnum 500 wheels. Standard equipment included a Hurst-shifted,
competition suspension with staggered rear shocks, and Cobra insignia. 1970 Torino Cobra 2-Door

Valuation tool for some time now and feel it is the best tool out there for
accurate, current prices. The editorialization of Hagerty’s pricing data is conducted
by a host of contributors, but it is all filtered through independent appraiser
and senior ASA member David H. Kinney. Kinney is a renowned market expert who
writes regular columns for AUTOMOBILE, AutoWeek, Hagerty, and Octane magazines,
and contributes to the New York Times. He is deeply involved in the hobby,
judging at events, attending dozens of auctions annually, routinely buying and
selling cars, and appraising hundreds of vehicles per year. The prices reported
on the Hagerty Valuation Tools are the product of Kinney’s market expertise. Hagerty Values as of the 1970
Torino Cobra 429/370HP car as of August 2013 Condition 4: $31,000 Daily
driver with flaws and poor paint in FAIR condition. Condition 3: $45,300 Some of #4 issues balanced
by some better areas. GOOD condition. Condition 2: $63,100 Could
be former #1
cars that have aged. EXCELLENT condition. Condition 1: $79,300 The best in the world.
CONCOURS condition. As an FYI, the average price
of a number 2 condition 1970 Torino Cobra 429/370HP car has jumped $2,500 in
the last 4 months. The market is on an upswing. For your consideration is this outstanding 1970
Ford Torino Cobra. Last inspected in 1985 with very few miles added since then.
The gentleman I purchased the car from, himself purchased the Cobra from an
elderly gentleman in New Jersey in 2004. Since the day the car was purchased, the
previous owner has kept the Cobra stored in underground heated storage. Upon purchasing the car, he also
had the entire clutch assembly replaced to include the clutch, pressure plate,
and throw-out bearing. Also, prior to selling the Cobra to me, the gentleman had
the car re-painted, had the Barrett Jackson Tu-Tone Satin Black Hood Treatment laid
down, replaced the hood locks, starter solenoid, voltage regulator, master
cylinder, battery, wipers, air filter, spark plugs, rotor, distributor cap, and
a fresh oil change. Since I have owned the Torino, I have installed the original steel wheels
and original Ford dog dish caps, installed original Ford authorized correct chrome exhaust tips, mounted new bias ply redline tires on the original
rims, replaced the temperature sending unit, installed a set of almost new Flowmaster
mufflers, added an aftermarket antenna, lowered the rear leaf spring shackles, installed
new pins, bushings and springs in both doors, replaced the front and rear main transmission bearings, reinstalled the reverse lockout rod to make it functional, reconnected the reverse lights switch to also make them functional again and had my body man buff out the Calypso
Coral paint. Be assured, as with all of the cars that I
sell, this Torino Cobra is an outstanding car and there will be no
disappointments or hidden issues. So you
don’t have to ask me to show you, and so you don’t have to find this important data
yourself; here is the critical decode information that you will want to read
and study, with corresponding photos to confirm their authenticity. FYI, I
always burn a CD of everything that I have documented on the car both
statistical and visual and give the CD to the new owner. VIN NUMBER: 0A38J221820 VIN NUMBER DECODE: 0 1970 A Built

NEW OWNER. My Comments: Are you
serious! Just try to find another 1970 Torino Cobra that is as original (body
& drivetrain), basically rust free, has a REAL Buildsheet, REAL factory Ram
Air, REAL factory desirable Calypso Coral exterior color, REAL factory bench
seat 4-speed combination (believed to be less than 100 produced.) and I’ll show
you a REAL muscle car that is REAL money in the bank. As
with all of the cars that I sell on eBay, the easiest way for a prospective
buyer to get a sense for my cars is with tons of information and loads of
photos and a video. Also, feel free to ask any questions
and I will do my best to answer them and respond ASAP. Here
is the link to the video:

ID Photos:
Engine: Original VIN stamped 429/370HP Ram Air with original metal ID tag. Starts and runs excellent with no smoking, funny noises or overheating. Nicely detailed
Transmission: Original VIN stamped 4-Speed Top Loader with the original metal ID
tag. Original T-Handled Hurst shifter. Shifts up and down through the gears
like butter. No funny noises or leaks. Rear Axle:
Original 3.50:1 Posi Unit, with original metal ID tag, and no issues. Body: All original body panels. Recently re-painted and done with three coats of DuPont Calypso Coral basecoat followed by three coats of a very expensive clear coat. All chrome and trim is original and in driver quality with the exception of the new hood locks. All original glass in very good condition.
Undercarriage: As you can see in the tons of photos, this Cobra’s undercarriage is in very good, basically rust free condition. The exhaust system appears to be the original with the x-pipe. I removed what I believe was the original mufflers and replaced them with newer flowmasters and added the Ford Authorized exhaust tips.
Interior: Virtually 100% original. Perfect dash top and very nice dash gauge area. Very nice front and rear door panels. Package tray is very nice. No rips or tears in the headliner. The carpet I was told is original and in good condition. Good original sill plates. All original seat belts in very good condition. There is a set of non-original front and rear floor mats.
Electrical: All exterior lights are in working order to include the headlights, tail lights, running lights, blinkers, plate light and the backup lights. The interior dash cluster lights work but are dim and may need a few back of the dash bulbs replaced. The overhead light works. The fuel gauge, temperature gauge, horn, cigarette lighter, heater and wipers all work. The factory optional Stewart Warner oil pressure and amp gauges work. The original AM radio is in place but does not work. Mechanical: The speedometer works. The reverse steering wheel lockout
works. The power steering, drum brakes and emergency brake all work correctly. The
suspension is very good with functional vintage Hurst air shocks. The Cobra starts,
shifts and drives down the road great with absolutely no issues. Trunk: The trunk is in excellent condition with the original trunk mat. Also it has the original spare wheel rim with a very cool vintage “Grab N Go” tire mounted. It has the complete and original jack assembly. The trunk still has the original cardboard quarter fillers to keep the trunk mat flat. And finally, there are three original factory stickers on the trunk lid. Minor issues in the lower quarter panel trunk areas. (See photos.)
Tires and Rims: Factory original
14” steel wheels mounted with new bias ply Firestone Redline tires topped off
with the original Ford “dog dish” caps.. What it Needs: · Correct 7040287 D0OF A Rochester Quadrajet;
· New Owner.
I
have tried very hard through description and photos to present this 1970 Ford Torino Cobra honestly and fairly. Having
said that, ask any and all questions before bidding and not after the auction
ends and you are the winner of this 1970
Ford Torino Cobra. Terms
of Sale:
There is No

15 vehicles most likely to surpass 200,000 miles
Tue, Mar 8 2022Americans drive a lot. Collectively, we put, on average, more than 13,000 miles on our cars each year according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Because of this, a vehicle's ability to travel long distances without major problems is a huge consideration when it comes time to purchase a new one. It's also worth remembering that keeping an older car on the road instead of trashing it and buying new can be considered an eco-friendly decision. After all, it takes a lot of resources to build a car. iSeeCars.com, a website that aggregates used car listings from all around the country, recently ran through the numbers on millions of vehicles that are currently on the road to determine which last the longest. Alternatively, you could choose to look at this list as vehicles likely to be driven by owners who travel long distances. Either way, we've laid out the top 15 vehicles most likely to hit or even surpass the 200,000-mile mark. It's important to note that while these are the vehicles that have stood the test of time up until today, we can't guarantee future results if you decide to opt for one of these from a current model year. That said, unless we specifically say so in the text below, we've used pictures of current models for illustrative purposes. Now, with all of that out of the way, scroll on down for the top 15 vehicles most likely to crest 200,000 miles. 15: Toyota Sienna 14: Honda Odyssey The 15th spot and 14th spot on the list of the top 15 vehicles most likely to surpass 200,000 miles are both minivans. Spoiler alert: They will be the only two minivans on the list. According to iSeeCars, 3.2% of both of these family haulers crest the 200,000-mile mark, making them the best bets for families looking to put a ton of miles on their machines. 13: Honda Ridgeline 12: GMC Yukon The next spot on the list is occupied by the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck with 3.7% lasting past 200,000 miles. Unlike any of the other midsize trucks it competes with, the Ridgeline is based on a unibody chassis. Opting for this more car-like structure — as opposed to a traditional body-on-frame layout — allows Honda's hauler to ride and drive more like a car. Up next is the GMC Yukon, also with 3.7% past the 200K mark, and the first, but very much not the last, big traditional SUV you'll see on the list. In fact, get ready to see a whole bunch of 'em, including several from GMC parent General Motors.
2016 Ford Fusion hybrid, plug-in getting $900 price cut
Thu, Feb 19 2015While the overall the green car market in the US suffered a slump in 2014 with a 6.5-percent drop in sales, the demand for electric vehicles and plug-ins actually jumped a healthy 28 percent. The Ford Fusion Energi plug-in was among the winners in the segment with a nearly 90 percent boost to 11,550 examples sold for the year. To keep the ball rolling in the face of low gas prices and updated challengers entering the field, the Blue Oval is slashing $900 off the cost of both the Energi and standard Fusion Hybrid to make them even more attractive to buyers. Ford's Monique Brentley told Autoblog that, the reduction was done, "basically, just to attract more customers and promote sales." The cut affects every trim of both electrically assisted versions of the Fusion for the 2016 model year, according to Cars Direct, and it comes without the removal of standard equipment. On the contrary, the Energi reportedly gets a new EcoSelect driving mode that activates additional regenerative braking and more gentle acceleration. The $900 pricing adjustment is only for these models and not available on the versions with only an internal combustion engine, which makes it clear Ford wants to tantalize green car buyers towards this pair. According to Cars Direct, the models should go on sale in late 2015. The least expensive 2016 Fusion Hybrid S will retail for $25,675, plus $825 destination on all of them, and a 2016 Energi start at $33,900. Autoblog's own pricing pages for them show the same numbers (here and here). Cars Direct also predicts for the Blue Oval to keep most incentives in place even after the adjustment. Assuming these figures don't change before the sedans actually go on sale, the price cut makes a 2016 Energi less expensive than a 2015 Chevrolet Volt starting at $34,345 (plus $825 destination). The cost of the updated 2016 model for the Chevy isn't announced yet.
Has the 2015 Ford Mustang gained hundreds of pounds?
Sun, 01 Jun 2014Automakers face competing interests when it comes to developing a new generation of vehicle. On the one hand, companies want to build their cars to be safer and better handling, with more equipment and maybe even larger dimensions over the model it's replacing. On the other hand, they strive to keep weight down to the benefit of both performance and fuel consumption. Usually something has to give, and in the case of the new 2015 Ford Mustang, those efforts may have resulted in a weight penalty of two or three hundred pounds.
This according to Blue Oval modifier Steeda Autosports, which states that "the 2015 Mustang ended up gaining 200-300 pounds in this remake". Despite the Mustang not being on the market yet, it would appear the leading Ford aftermarketer has been given early access to the 2015 model to help jumpstart its tuning efforts (a rather common development among trusted tuners). If Steeda's assertion is accurate, that would make the challenge of getting the new pony car up to speed for both Ford and aftermarket customizers like Steeda that much greater.
We're waiting for official word from Ford on the veracity of Steeda's claim, but if true, it's bound to be a bit of disappointing news for legions of Blue Oval performance enthusiasts. Watch this space for more.
