1970 Ford Torino, 351c California Car With Docs. Blue Plates And Service History on 2040-cars
Alpharetta, Georgia, United States
Very clean Original 1970 Torino with factory Ford 351 Cleveland. Factory blue/blue car, all original Docs and tons of CA service records, plus 2 perfect factory buildsheets come with a full binder including the original owners card from Ford, sales invoices copies of titles and owners manuals. Also the car comes with a 1971 grille installed, and the rare original 1970 grille surround pictured with headlight bezels, and trim. Factory GT taillights and a Factory GT hood which were added when it was repainted. I have a new chin spoiler for it I have not installed, and nice new Grant steering wheel for a stronger interior appearance if you like. The hood is Fresh Air when desired, as the ford hood scoop flaps come off/open with removal of 2 screws. All the glass is in very good to good condition without any delamination and all windows roll up and down freely and seal well, no water leaks ever. Car even smells good, not 45 year old stale smelling or musty like most old cars. It has Mustang Cobra 17" tires and wheels pictured plus new rear springs, KYB gas shocks, and a new 1 1/2" rear sway bar, also added when painted and they help make the car handle/corner great. Cobra decals/stickers can be pealed off if desired but look good when seen in person. No rattles or weird vibrations, runs, drives, and stops fantastic. It has the Ford 9" rear and is quiet and cruises the highway at 60-80 all day. New TCI street fighter trans, shifts strong and works perfectly, the factory kick down linkage still intact. Normal shifting trans, not the racing reverse valve body TCI. Brand new dual 2.5 inch exhaust and mufflers are attached to the original manifolds and head pipes which were not rusted out, only 58K documented miles remember. New fuel tank, alternator, and P/S pump. Many new A/C parts were installed and it was working fine for last 3 seasons. Noticed on the last drive to NC. it was still chilly but not as cold as it was, (was 91 and humid) might need a charge, normally very cold. Brakes have new front caliper's, front brake hoses, rear brakes have been serviced too, and it stops great. My family and I use this car sparingly for weekend car shows so it is very safe, reliable, looks great, and is easy to drive. Every blinker, light, and even the door buzzer for the key and dome light works, headliner, door panels, seat covers, headliner visors are still very nice or like new. I recently installed a brand new Holley 750 double pumper with electric choke. It is set up right, hit the gas once to set the choke and it starts cold perfectly, runs strong, no smoke, no engine leaks, no rattles or hesitations. It could use a locking rear to keep from spinning the tires so easily......Dash has one small 1" crack in the middle and it has a dash cover on it now, not glued down, just on there to keep the sun off. Factory radio works....crackles mostly, but will play if you can get a good signal. All in all, good looking paint, with a couple small flaws and ding or nick here and there, but a very nice car that shows well and gets attention. It will, and has won trophy's for us here and there and will get you noticed while getting you home every time...NO rusted areas or body filler to speak of, floor pans and frame rails are perfect.....car was dealer Ziebarted and sold new in CA. did not leave CA until 2008....it was always garaged and many of the original factory marks, stickers, and warning labels are still near perfect and still in place....trunk paint is original, door jams engine compartment paint are untouched. D/S door latch sticks a bit and it may need a door latch soon. Hope you like it, please call me directly if there are any other questions. Thx my cell 949-322-5831 Car is at my home in Alpharetta/Atlanta and can be seen or inspected anytime before close of auction. Car will be held until payments clear....no trades, no checks, no BS please. Bid to own, very fairly priced reserve for the condition, $$ spent on it condition. We are finishing a convertible for the family would like sell this one to fund the conv. This car is faster (with the 351C) and in nicer condition than my 340 Cuda....for a 1/3 of the price!! FYI: I am not a photographer by any means, and I think the gaps are great, body lines are sharp/good, and paint (depth) color shows better in person as my flash usage and the sunlight that day may have distorted lines washed out the blue a bit in photos....

This Or That: Fiat 500 Abarth vs. Ford Fiesta ST [w/poll]
Thu, 21 Aug 2014
They're pretty darn similar. And yet our views are oh so different.
If you guys could read the transcripts of our editors' chat room, you'd know that we're a pretty argumentative bunch. It's always good-spirited stuff (well, usually), but when we're not obsessively covering this or that, we're usually fighting about one car being better than another. We're all enthusiasts here, and our automotive tastes run the gamut from the weird and unusual to the decidedly mainstream - we all feel strongly about specific cars in a given segment. While it usually makes for good conversation, if we're passionate enough, it can turn into a tomato-throwing showdown.
How Ford's light lab keeps the sun shining on the new Mustang just right [w/video]
Thu, 02 Jan 2014Anyone who's bought one of those old school metal shift knobs knows they're really cool until they sit in a parking lot in the sun for a few hours. Then they're not cool at all. Likewise, features such as the aluminum dash on the 2015 Ford Mustang can be all kinds of neat right up until the sun hits it just the right way and sends shards of blinding light through the cabin. The Ford Visual Performance and Evaluation Lab is where engineers figure out how to make sure that doesn't happen.
Cars like said Mustang are parked inside the 30-foot reflecting dome under 6,000 watts of lights that can mimic the sun at any time of day and in any weather condition. Engineers can then spend cold, overcast days inside, testing for interior legibility, glare and reflections on every interior and exterior surface as if it were bright and sunny. They can also learn how a car's sheetmetal and colors will look out of doors, all year round.
Ford showed off the lighting lab without the music and interviews three years ago when the Explorer was being prepared. You can watch it at work again in the video below, and read about it in the press release below that.
