For Sale my 1966 Thunderbird Convertible. I purchased this car in early 1990's My grandfather and I did the restoration. My grandfather was a retired master mechanic for the state of SC. At the time I purchased this car I owned 3 thunderbirds, a '68 GT fastback mustang ("S" code big block car), a 1964 F100, and a Harley. I sold everything except for my first car (1963 Tbird) and this convertible. I sold my Mustang in 2000 thinking a fastback mustang is easier to find than a convertible thunderbird. Now I have three children with one in college, one in diapers and one in between and it is time to make a choice.

I am keeping my first car 1963 Tbird and selling my convertible. Ok enough history, now on to the car.

1966 Thunderbird Convertible. car has less than 100k miles, less than 4000 miles on rebuilt motor including new 30 over forged pistons and a small crane cam. the valves do not have hardened seats we didn't have the knowledge of the lead free gas. the heads on the car have the rounded combustion chambers that give you a little more power. The rest is basically stock. I did not put anything crazy in the car it was going to be just a cruiser. had new dual exhaust, new michelin tires (now dry rotting) new water pump, alternator, brake booster, and rebuilt transmission all low mileage now but twenty years old. The car cranks up and runs. I could not find the spark plugs for the car they are no longer available. (these are the resistor type to keep your radio from humming) You can still get spark plugs for the car just the ones I have in it are obsolete.

I drove the car around the neighborhood carefully (needs brakes bled one rear caliper sticky too) The car has basically been outside for the last ten years other than when I bring it in from time to time to tinker with it. I had planned on putting it back together and driving it ratrod style. I guess I need to get to the reason  I parked the car in the first place. We painted the car because it wasn't in bad shape when I bought it. It was Wimbledon White too plain for a convertible. We painted it a custom metallic red almost a watermelon color. The paint orange peeled and never really shined. I eventually met a very talented paint and body man who did some fantastic work in town. I made one huge mistake...paying a man before the job is done. He skipped town after stripping down my car and several other people were cheated out of their money too. I decided I was going to try painting the car again but never got around to it.

All of the convertible top parts are there the flip tray motor is broken. I disconnected the main cylinders and have a switch to control the trunk screws. I never repaired the top due to being able to raise and lower by myself. It is real easy with two people.

I will answer any questions and update this information as needed. I will have the car for sale locally although there doesn't seem to be much money around here. If it sells I will end the auction so please bid if you are interested.

Thanks for looking.

Autoblog joins Elon Musk and Danica Patrick in accepting ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Tue, 19 Aug 2014

Unless you've been living in an off-the-grid cabin in the woods for the last couple of weeks or abstain entirely from social media activities, you've probably seen someone you know dump a bucket of ice and water over their own head recently. While the origins of the so-called Ice Bucket Challenge are shrouded in a history typical of Internet memes, its effectiveness in raising money and awareness for the ALS Association has been astonishing.
Celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, sports, technology and more have generated untold millions of video views in support of the organization that is helping patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease), and generated a much needed influx of cash, as well. Recent reports have some $15.6M raised in the last two weeks.
Of course, the big-hearted world of automotive celebrities has taken part in the drenching charity effort as well. Follow on below for some of the biggest names on four wheels getting iced for charity, with a smattering of your favorite Autobloggers thrown in for good measure.

Ford previews new C-Max ahead of upcoming debut

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

Looking at a Ford Focus? These days you can get it as a five-door hatch, a four-door sedan, or... that's all. European buyers don't even get our sedan, but they do get a wagon. And while the three-door hatch, two-door coupe and two-door cabrio have long since ended production, buyers around the world can also get the company's larger C-Max. And now, like the Focus upon which it's based, Ford is preparing to roll out a new version.
The tall wagon (or small minivan, depending on your perspective) is being treated to what Ford says is "an extreme makeover." Details to accompany the teaser image above remain few and far between, but following the spy shots we recently posted, it looks destined for some of the same visual updates as Ford rolled out on the 2015 Focus, with "even more refinement, practicality and technology."
Like the Mercedes B-Class, which is only available Stateside as an EV, American buyers can only get the C-Max in electrified form, either as the C-Max Hybrid or C-Max Energi. Overseas buyers, however, will be able to choose from a range of powertrain options and two wheelbase lengths - the longer of which boasts seven seats and the Grand C-Max name. (Remember when Chrysler did the same with its minivans?) Both are set to debut on September 17, so watch this space. After that, we'll expect to see it on display at the Paris Motor Show.
