AN ALL MATCHING NUMBER CAR!!!
NEW PAINT
NEW UPOLSTRY
This 49 year old lady I consider to be 99.9% done and ready to go. I've tried to keep her as original as she was new. The upholstery is five star. The paint is at least a four &3/4 star. The chrome on this car is all original & is in great condition.
When I bought this car from a 97 year old man it'd been sitting in his garage for ten or more years. I had to pull the gas tank and flush it and the fuel lines. New fuel pump and filters. All of the suspension rubber  was rotten. But being a Southern Nevada car, corrosion was not an issue. I pulled the motor reconditioned the heads and changed the freeze plugs (as one was leaking).  I pulled the oil pan and plastic gauged the main and rod bearings and found all within tolerance. I've rebuilt the power steering pump & the power brake booster. I pulled the radiator, had it pressure tested, flushed and painted. All new hoses, belts & tune up. Rebuilt starter & bendix. New tires, Hankooks P215-75R15 (white walls), new brakes front and rear. All new front suspension: ball joints, tie rod ends, all new rubber bushings in the control arms, and I put new front coil springs in her as well.
I pulled the transmission pan and found all to be clean and operational. I did however replace the transmission mount and the U-joints. I put new rubber bushings in the rear leaf springs but I did not replace the springs themselves as the car seems to sit good. I rebuilt the original autolite carburetor (three times) and I just could not get her to behave herself, so I put on an Holley 600 cfm and it seemed to straighten her out.
The original carb will come with the car as may be someone better than me can get it to run properly.
I also bought a radio for her, it's a 240 watt AM FM, with usb player, RCA outputs, DVD, and satellite. As you can see in the photos, it is still in the box and brand new It's got the T-bird emblem on the face & It's supposed to slip right in. (see pics)  I did not install the sound because as now this old lady is as original as I can make her. Besides, my upholstery guy told me that if I started cutting holes into his work, he'd disown me and not do anymore work for me.
Therefore, whoever does decide to buy my fine lady can do the sound themselves.
The exhaust system is the same as when I bought the car, it's in good condition, they's a pair of bullet mufflers under there that sound great. So I just let it be.
Things wrong: the horn does not work, the directional signal return does not work as well (I can't find the proper switch), and there is a clear glass reverse light lense that I cannot find (I have searched everywhere). I also have not found the original air cleaner.
This car is now located in Las Vegas NV. Buyer can trailer her home. If it was me, I'd kinda like to drive her from here to New York City, as she is a blast to drive & quite the head turner!

2015 Ford C-Max gets a corporate nose job [w/video]

Thu, 02 Oct 2014

Ford might not have the splashiest booth here at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, but the automaker is showing off quite a bit of hardware that will actually end up on roads across Europe. Parisians are no doubt tickled at getting to see the specifications of the Mustang tuned for The Continent (which has a revised suspension for European roads, and a few visual nips and tucks), in addition to the revised face of the family-friendly C-Max.
As you can see, C-Max styling has been revisited with a deft touch, grafting Ford's six-sided corporate grille on the nose, in place of the outgoing car's two-part affair. New headlights can also be found on the car's revised front fascia, though the rear end of the C-Max looks only slightly different than the current version.
Inside the cabin, Ford has consolidated controls and upped the ante in terms of material quality, with "black satin" and chrome details and more storage capacity, overall. Grocery-lugging moms and dads everywhere should appreciate the hands-free liftgate feature, as well.

Chrysler called out over lackluster Ram Runner by racer who helped develop it

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Fans of off-roading and desert blasting might recall that Chrysler offers an aftermarket conversion that can turn a Ram 1500 into a road-legal desert racer, called the Ram Runner. The kit, sold through Mopar, includes some significant suspension upgrades, body tweaks and a brawnier cat-back exhaust for the truck's 5.7-liter V8.
Considering all of this, comparisons with the almighty Ford F-150 SVT Raptor are common. Among the off-road community, that makes these two a sort of Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang for people that prefer driving on dirt. In the Race-Dezert forum, the discussion as to which truck was better was proceeding as normal - Ram fans said their piece and Ford fans said theirs. Then, a man named Kent Kroeker offered up his two cents.
See, Kroeker is a Baja racer, and the man that helped develop the Ram Runner. Despite his association with the truck, though, he had some less than kind words for Chrysler and the Ram Runner.

Ford bringing production F-150 to Detroit with Atlas styling and Alcoa blast shields

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

According to a report in Bloomberg, the 2015 Ford F-150 will indeed be showing up at the Detroit Auto Show next month. It will bring attitude with it, not only in the form of sheetmetal inspired by the Atlas concept (pictured) that appeared at the 2013 Detroit show but also in the Alcoa military blast shields among the display being used to showcase the ruggedness of aluminum.
There's been a lot of talk about the F-150 switching to aluminum body panels (although maintaining a steel frame), and for good reason. The lightweight body is expected to shed more than 700 pounds and greatly increase its highway mileage, but production-line issues and possible delays have been a major focus of attention concerning the best-selling vehicle in America for 32 years, meaning Ford has to get it right. F-150 is responsible for a massive portion of the company's global profits and it will come in a year when company profits are already predicted to decline because of new car launches.
When it comes to dings, the Bloomberg story says Ford wants Alcoa to supply some of the military-grade aluminum it uses for blast shields on battlefield vehicles to help it talk up the toughness of aluminum. Reading commentary on the many stories about the F-150 reveals there are many more little questions about the aluminum overhaul, like "How much will it cost to repair and insure?" and "How will companies hang their magnetic signs?" Answers should start coming in a couple of weeks.
