Up for auction is a 1956 Ford Thunderbird. It has had a frame on restoration that was completed last year. The interior is in nice cosmetic condition with no tears in the seats, carpet, or door panels. The exterior is finished in Peacock Blue and has a bright glossy shine. The chrome in excellent condition. This 56 T-Bird has a new soft top. The engine is a 312 that has been completely rebuilt and has only 66 miles on the rebuild. The transmission has also been rebuilt at the same time as the engine. The car also has a continental kit. The car drives nice with 4 brand new tires with wide white walls. Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line
Wed, 05 Jan 2011The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

FL man fatally shot after urging driver not to do donuts in a Mustang
Tue, 18 Nov 2014Bradley Holt (pictured), the older half-brother of University of South Florida freshman quarterback Quinton Flowers, was killed in a random act of violence last week.
The 24-year-old Holt was throwing a football around with local kids in Allapattah, a neighborhood in Miami, when a yellow Mustang showed up and started doing donuts in the street. Holt, worried about kids playing in front his apartment complex, walked over to the driver and asked him why he was "driving so crazy with so many kids out here?"
The driver left. Holt's sister said the driver came back "about 15 to 20 minutes later" and fired two shots at Holt. One of them hit Holt in the back of the head, killing him.
NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder
Fri, 11 Jul 2014There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.
