Here is a Seafoam Green 1955 Thunderbird with aftermarket softtop frame only.  This was my mother's car (I went with her to buy it in San Juan Capistrano in 1989) She died in 1993 and my stepfather got the car and restored it in 2000-2001.

He added Disc Brakes (Front) Air conditioning, power steering.  The car was basically a rust free car when my mother bought it 24 years ago.

Paint is nearly new, one minor chip where hood closes on driver's side, and a couple around the skirts.  Body is about as straight as you can get.  Converted to 12 volt system, alternator etc.  All gauges work great.  All lights and lenses have been replaced.  All chrome emblems were replaced with new reproductions.  Dark teal dash is original and was in great shape all these years.  Metal parts of dash were repainted original seafoam green.

Original 292 V* was rebuilt and only has about 4,000 miles on it.  Engine compartment is completely detailed.  Fan shroud keeps engine cool and does not overheat.  Front disc brakes car stops as good as it looks.  Seats and door panels were all redone using correct T Bird patterns and vinyls.  Windows roll up and down, power seat works great.  Smaller diameter 15 inch repro steering wheel installed.

Bumpers have all been rechromed.  Automatic Fordomatic shifts about as good as can be expected for a Fordomatic.  Not the greatest trannys I had one in my 63 Falcon when I was 17.  Tires are wide whitewall radials and are nearly new.  WireWheels were installed in 2002.  No oil or tranny leaks.

Swing bar is behind the seat if you want to later install an original Softtop frame but the aftermarket works great and it pretty quiet even at freeway speeds.

When car is warmed up car starts immediately.  Typical old Ford you need to pump it a bit when cold.  Oil bath cleaner was replaced with NEW Teapot Carb back in 2001.

Beautiful car in the prettiest color (In my opinion) of the 1955's.  Seafoam Green to me is the best with Fiesta Red coming in second.

Buyer to arrange and pay for shipping, car is located in East Hollywood (Los Feliz) not far from downtown LA.  I can deliver to a local shipper.  Car to be paid for within 14 days of auction close.  Please email questions before bidding.

Ford recalls Explorer and Lincoln MKC for fire hazard

Thu, Mar 31 2016

The Basics: Ford will recall 5,536 examples of the 2016 Explorer and 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC. The Explorers have build dates between October 20, 2014, and January 28, 2016, at the Chicago Assembly Plant. The MKCs are from between November 25, 2013, and January 25, 2016, at the Louisville Assembly Plant. In total, there are 3,129 total affected examples of the 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2,407 examples of the 2016 Ford Explorer. Of these, 1,543 are in the US and 3,993 are in Canada. The Problem: The combination of the engine block design and the block heater in these vehicles can cause the part to overheat when plugged in. Injuries/Deaths: None reported, but there are two cases of underhood fires in Canada. If you own one: Ford will begin notifying owners during the week of May 16, company spokesperson John Cangany tells Autoblog. Related Video: Ford issues safety recall for certain 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles to replace engine block heaters Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 5,500 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles to remove the heaters and replace them with an updated design. The engine block design, coupled with the particular block heater installed in these vehicles, causes the unit to be susceptible to overheating when the vehicle is parked and the block heater is plugged in –increasing the risk of an underhood fire. Ford is aware of two reports of underhood fires in Canada, but is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue. Affected vehicles include certain 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC vehicles built at Louisville Assembly Plant, Nov. 25, 2013 through Jan. 25, 2016 and certain 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles built at Chicago Assembly Plant, Oct. 20, 2014 through Jan. 28, 2016. There are 5,536 vehicles affected by the issue, including 3,129 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC and 2,407 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles, with 1,543 of the affected vehicles in the United States and federalized territories and 3,993 in Canada. Dealers will remove and replace the engine block heater with an updated design and, if needed, replace the cord at no cost to the customer.

Ford F-150 EcoBoost in NHTSA probe for acceleration issue

Tue, 28 May 2013

According to Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching a probe into 400,000 Ford F-150 models over possible acceleration problems. According to the article, NHTSA has received 95 reports "alleging incidents of reduced engine power during hard accelerations" on 2011 to 2013 F-150 models equipped with the company's 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.
Automotive News reports that Ford has issued three technical service bulletins "related to intermittent stumble/misfire on acceleration from highway cruise in humid or damp conditions," according to the government agency's documents. About one third of the 95 reports NHTSA has received cited humid or rainy conditions when these problems allegedly occurred.
These technical service bulletins have allowed dealers to address a "condition related to moisture accumulation in the charge air cooler during extended highway cruising at constant throttle in humid or damp conditions," AN reports, citing NHTSA documents. Furthermore, the TSB outlines details for "reprogramming the powertrain control module with the latest calibration and installing a new CAC and air deflector plate."

2015 Ford F-150 [w/videos]

Thu, 02 Oct 2014

To learn more about the all-new 2015 F-150 and get an early read on its potential hero-or-zero status, we flew to the heart of full-size pickup truck country, San Antonio, TX, to spend a day driving, towing and playing in the mud with an assortment of Ford's innovative new trucks.
First, a caveat - while we feel we have a reasonably good handle on the new F-150 after attending this first-drive event, we are far from ready to pass definitive judgment on the success of this radically new rig. Our time in the various models was lamentably limited and we felt rushed. With so much at stake and with so much to talk about and experience, we had zero alone time with the vehicle - there were Ford folks shadowing us at every moment.
And we still don't know everything there is to know about the trucks, as Ford is withholding some of its most crucial numbers, including curb weight data and anticipated EPA fuel economy figures. We don't even have a firm on-sale date. All of this information is typically disclosed - or at least officially estimated - at the time of a new vehicle's first drive. This limits the scope of the judgments we feel comfortable making based on our first encounter.
