The car is in good condition but not perfect."

The Ford Taurus Rage Concept Vehicle was designed by Ford Motor Company for the 1999 SEMA Auto show.  Its a one of body design meant to gauge public reaction.  It was never put into production however because Ford decided to change the Taurus design the following year.  There is a great story behind this car and a great cult like following.  This car is rare for being a one of one but even rarer considering the story behind this model SHO.  There weren't many Taurus SHOs produced from 1997-1999 and its said that maybe 5 percent of them still exist today.  There was a design flaw in the motor of Taurus SHOs of this era that if not caught in time could blow the engine.  Ford turned a blind eye to it and many law suits ensued.  In typical corporate fashion they waited out the suits and eventually they pretty much went away.  What was happening was the cams were held by a pin in the cam shaft.  Someone could easily spot weld the cams and make it to where they were locked in and didn't rupture.  For many people who didn't know this, their SHO died.  This was said to happen around 100,000 miles.  The Rage has had the pins welded by an expert in Illinois that has done many of these procedures.  This gentleman is well known within the SHO community and he wrote a very detailed report about the components to this car.  He said that the parts of the car were hand picked by the designers.  They used all of the best parts of each SHO within the model year.  The design team then created clay models to work from.  Once the design was ready a company by the name of Special Projects got involved to bring the idea to life.  Lear motor sports supplied the seats, and the rims are Italian import MOMOs that cannot be re duplicated.  The spoiler on the back is one off as well.  The body of the rage was done right.  The added features are of the highest quality.  The ground effects are welded steel, the body work is all fiberglass, done carefully by a very experienced design team.  The Rage is a late 90s time piece and your chance to own a car that no one else on the planet can have.  I am from the Motor City Detroit and truly love this car and want to keep it forever because there's nothing else like it and its not a SEMA car that's overly gaudy.  Its smooth looking, its loud, its bright, and heads turn everywhere it goes.  Enthusiasts invite me to bring the car to all of their  events and people as far out as Australia have made comments on forums online.  The legend of The Rage can continue to grow with the right owner especially since the Taurus line is back.  This car is and will be a classic car of the late 90s era.  See you on Woodward!

Ford shutters Genk assembly plant in Belgium

Tue, Dec 23 2014

Ford has become the latest automaker to close one of its European assembly plants. The facility in question is located in the Belgian city of Genk and has been in operation since the early '60s when it started building the Taunus, Ford's first mass-produced, front-drive model. As part of the plan first announced over two years ago, the Genk Body & Assembly Plant is now closing its doors after half a century in the business and over fourteen million vehicles built. Although the plant itself employed some 5,000 workers, once you take into account the suppliers built up around the plant, the overall impact on employment in the area edges closer to 12,000. Genk Body & Assembly had until recently been tasked with producing the Mondeo sedan (which in its current iteration we know as the Fusion) as well as the S-Max and Galaxy minivans. Production of the Mondeo shifted in 2013 to the company's plant in Valencia, Spain, which also handles the Kuga crossover and Transit Connect cargo van, and will soon take over the minivans from Genk as well. The move follows a similar decision undertaken by General Motors to close the Opelwerk plant in Bochum, Germany. It also reflects a scaling down of automobile production in Belgium specifically: although Audi still manufacturers in Brussels and and Volvo in Ghent, Opel closed its plant in Antwerp in 2000 and Renault ceased production in Vilvoorde back in '97. However Ford still maintains its famous proving ground half an hour to the north in Lommel, Belgium. Weekly Recap: 2016 CTS-V gives Cadillac new momentum for the new year

Sat, Dec 27 2014

It's been a rough year for Cadillac. The historic luxury carmaker been in the news for all of the wrong reasons: Declining sales, ditching its advertising agency and the relocation of its headquarters from Detroit to New York. But in late December, Cadillac reminded everyone what it does best: Build some of the rawest and most compelling luxury sedans in the world, as evidenced by the 2016 CTS-V. This monster churns out 640 horsepower from a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. Sound familiar? That's the Corvette Z06 engine, and it makes this CTS the most powerful production Cadillac ever. It also puts the sporting divisions of the Germans on notice. The new CTS-V easily overpowers the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S 4Matic and its 5.5-liter biturbo V8 rated at 577 hp, and the BMW M5 (with the competition pack) and its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that pushes out 575 hp. The rear-wheel drive Cadillac can sprint to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds, which is close to the 3.5-second time turned in by the 4Matic-driven E63 S, and a bit quicker than the 4.1 seconds posted by the M5. With Magnetic Ride Control, General Motors' stout eight-speed automatic transmission (also used in the Corvette), Brembo brakes and a carbon-fiber option package that pretty much builds your car out of carbon fiber – it's clear this Cadillac means business. Truth be told, we expected this CTS-V to deliver. It's been a serious sports sedan for a decade, and the recent generation and its 556-hp arrogance have been particularly memorable. But notice what we're doing here? We're talking about product. Not who makes Cadillac's ads, or if the brand's headquarters has a mailing address in NYC. Like the 2016 ATS-V that's due in the spring, the debut of the 2016 CTS-V (on sale in late summer) is a shot in the arm for Cadillac, and its arrival comes during time of transition. The brand is trying to reinvent itself as a modern luxury maker. It wants new customers, a different image and obviously more sales. Those things are going to take time, but with a 640-hp sledgehammer of a sports sedan on tap for next year, Cadillac can still maintain some of its swagger through all of the change. Amazon can now deliver packages to some Ford and Lincoln vehicles

Tue, Apr 30 2019

Nothing succeeds without complications popping up along the way. Sure, Amazon's Prime delivery services have made shopping more convenient than brushing your teeth, but leaving millions of packages on doorsteps comes with an inherent danger: Thieves might swipe them without anybody knowing. Amazon's solution is called Amazon Key, which allows delivery men and women to enter a customer's house or car to drop off a package. This week, Ford and Lincoln announced they would be partnering with Amazon to integrate the service into some of their vehicles. Ford is following in the footsteps of Volvo and General Motors, as both companies announced their participation about a year ago. That includes Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC. Key will be made available for 2017-and-newer Fords equipped with FordPass Connect, and 2018-and-later Lincolns with Lincoln Connect. Key is not available everywhere, but it can be used in dozens of city throughout the U.S., and the network is expanding. To look for compatibility for your car and city, check on Amazon's dedicated Key website. Like every other tech invention these days, Key requires a smart device application, which requires a one-time setup. The service is available on the Key app or the FordPass and Lincoln Way apps. While ordering on Amazon, customers will then select in-car delivery during checkout. Input a public delivery address, and park the car within two blocks of that address. While the order is in transit, Amazon will provide status updates, another feature that takes away some of the anxiety of waiting for a package to be delivered. The package will be put into the car within a four-hour window, and users will get notifications that the exchange is complete, and the car is again securely locked. Should customers change their minds, they can always cancel the delivery method, and the car will remain locked. In that case, the delivery could go to the building where the car is parked, or be rescheduled. Ford imagines this as the beginning of numerous car-based services in the near future that can be scheduled while the owner is not there, such as car washes.
