This is a really cool, unique and rare 51 Ford Big Block Hot Rod. Super clean period correct custom looks runs and drives amazing!, 501 big block V8 and Turbo 400 3 speed Auto Trans with Ford 9 inch rear. It has the legendary hot rod set up with modern suspension, power steering and disk brakes... It works amazingly well... Super powerful... smooth and fast!! This bad boy is in great condition all around. Looks awesome with a little hot rod patina and proper period correct hot rod stance... looks, runs, and drives great. Cool vintage rod would be awesome weekend cruiser, daily driver, or addition to any collection... I have ALOT of cars and drive this one all the time... its a really comfortable all around cruiser... nice nice car.

The body is super straight and rust free... the underside is clean and solid. Paint presents great with some minor blemishes... I wanted the car to have a period correct look like someone would do it back in the 50's or 60's... I had the roof done in satin black... looks great. It has a cool stance with period correct fat keystone rims and tires... doors close tight and windows work nice...  Get's looks and compliments everywhere we roll...

The interior is great... Redone in black vinyl and new black carpet... panels look good... custom gauges in the dash all work properly as do the lights and electronics... headliner is all there but could use some love... tilt, telescoping steering column and wheel... nice after market stereo... great hot rod interior...

Best Part!!!... 501 big block motor starts idles and runs fantastic...  Awesome power and sounds really cool...
3 speed 400 auto shifts smooth and strong through the gears...  9" rear end... Gear ratios are great around town and cruises really nice on the freeway as well. 68 Camaro front clip provides surprisingly good ride and front disk brakes stop straight and sure. Strong, FAST,  and reliable... ready to roll.... definite daily driver capable.

Overall this is a really cool American Classic Hot/Rat Rod in great condition all around. Awesome potential and/or weekend cruiser, daily driver, or whatever you like. Great for any enthusiast, collector, or anyone looking for a cool and unique Vintage Classic at a great price.

Shelby Cobra, Mercedes 300SL and 1947 Woodie from Petersen Museum headed to auction

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

The changes happening at the Petersen Museum have been making the rounds in major press, but it probably won't be until August 18, during Pebble Beach, when we get the full story on what's happening; that's where and when museum reps plan on announcing the way forward for the SoCal institution. In the meantime, the museum is still reorganizing its collection, and that means auctioning some of its showpieces at this weekend's Auctions America event in Burbank.
Three of the stars are a 1964 Shelby Cobra 289, one of less than 20 produced with a three-speed C-4 automatic transmission, a 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300SL owned by actor Robert Stack and the last 1948 Ford Sportsman 'Woodie' ever produced. The Cobra, now restored to its original white exterior and red leather interior, was a factory demonstrator that first sold for $5,250. Showing just 38,950 miles on the odometer, its pre-sale estimate is $800,000 to $1 million.
The 300SL is actually a 1957 model but wasn't titled until Robert Stack took possession in 1960. The lead actor in the The Untouchables TV series used to drive by the Sunset Boulevard Mercedes dealership to ogle the car, but couldn't justify spending the money to buy it. When he and the producer of The Untouchables won Emmys for the show, the producer, who happened to be Desi Arnaz, bought the car for Stack. He owned it his whole life, it has been left as Stack drove it and still bears the California license plate "UNTCHBL."

Fiat boss Elkann being mentored by... Bill Ford?

Tue, 26 Mar 2013

Fiat Chairman John Elkann has been turning to an unusual source for advice on the car business. While speaking during an interview with The Detroit News, Elkann said he often asks Bill Ford Jr. for advice on how to proceed with the turnaround at Chrysler. "It's great to have the opportunity to share this with someone like Bill, who has experienced many things and gone through many things ... especially linked to Detroit." Elkann said.
As the Agnelli family heir, Elkann has inherited a long and fruitful friendship with the Ford family. While Giovanni Agnelli built his first Fiat four years before Henry Ford created his first vehicle, it was Ford that showed Agnelli the benefits of mass production and helped pave the way for what would become the Fiat empire.
Giovanni's grandson, Gianni, helped mentor Bill Ford when he was elected chairman of Ford Motor Company. Now, Ford is returning the favor by helping Elkann navigate the automotive industry's tumultuous waters.
