1953 Ford F-250 Marmon Herrington 4 Wheel Drive Truck on 2040-cars
Cody, Wyoming, United States
|
1953 marmon. the chassis (rear end, transfer case, transmission, engine, frame, front end, etc) are all 100% original to the truck. this was purchased on the pine ridge indian reservation in the early 80's. this has an almost perfect 1954 body with the original grille from a 53. the body is close to perfect. it had a rust out spot between the driver's door and fender. this was professionally repaired. here are the problems: the right front axle was broken. I had a machine shop fabricate a stub and it is currently installed to make a perfectly drivable truck. it needs a windshield and side window. it also needs a steering column. (I have located one out a 53 f-250 in cody that I will get if needed). this has all the body work done and is close to being able to paint. I have the original wheels that go with it. I also have the spare. this makes a total of 5 original wheels that go with it. it also has the original rear wheel spacers that are almost impossible to find. these are split rim. the engine is the original 53 flathead that was in it. the block was boiled and checked for cracks. the crankshaft was ground 10 under and have new pistons. the motor will have to be honed, otherwise all the engine parts, including a couple of carbs are all included. also have a new gasket kit and bearings for the engine. the frame is in excellent condition. the body had about 63,000 miles on it when it was purchased in eastern south Dakota and the original marmon had under 17,000 miles when the axle was broken (not a misprint) I have all the trim, inside and outside and the original marmon 4 wheel drive metal plaque that goes on the dash. TO ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS THAT I GOT: I had a question as to why I did not have more photos, the reason is I have two big block engines in front, as well a 1935 dodge truck and two motorcycles, as well as a barber chair, etc, stuffed into my garage. those of you who are married can now see the problem. I will be more than happy to move anything that needs to be moved to take photos of any area that is requested. it has the original spare tire carrier. the front of the box that is usually mashed is perfect, again, it may have been a mistake to put a 54 body on a 53 truck, but the body was close to perfect. actually the 53 body had almost no dents, but had more rust that I did not wanted to deal with. I have the door handles. the bench seat is in very good condition structurally, but needs a new cover put on it. the floor pans had absolutely no rust on them. yes, all of the split rim wheels are original to the truck. the brakes are all new, as well as the master cylinder. the wheel cylinders have also had kits put in them. if a steering column is needed, I have access to one and it will be at no additional cost. the entire body and box were removed, the frame was cleaned and painted and put new cab mounts kits in it when it was put back together. I also have the original paint codes for the wheels, body, and grille. the body was Sheridan Blue. thanks and please feel free to ask any additional questions. the bed is close to perfect and does not have all the rust and dents that most of these have. the main reason I bought this body, is that the bed was close to perfect. I have made a pine bed for it, but oak was original and probably should be made of oak. it needs completely rewired. all the gauges are there, including the original speedometer with the correct mileage showing. it kinds of pains me to sell this, but I am in the process od restoring 2 other cars and 2 motorcycles and something has to give. please feel free to e-mail or call at 307-899-0776 with any questions, thanks. I will add revisions to this listing as questions are asked. this has a clean south Dakota title and can be inspected at any time in cody, Wyoming. additional photos of specific areas will be provided. call and I will send additional photos, as this site does not allow use of the dreaded e-word, thanks. whoops, forgot to respond to the other question: these are actually f-250 running boards, not the 1/2 ton ones that are normally added onto. |

Ford Focus ST, Fiesta ST buyers to get free Octane Academy driving school
Thu, 01 Aug 2013The Ford Focus ST and Fiesta ST have created plenty of excitement in the sport compact segment, and Ford is looking to make sure that owners are driving and enjoying their cars to the best of their abilities. As an added bonus for buying one of these sporty hatchbacks, Ford will provide a complimentary ST Octane Academy session to be held at the Miller Motorsports Park in Utah.
Attendees will be responsible for travel and lodging, but Ford will provide the driving school free of charge. Included in this two-day trip, ST owners will get class instruction and driving instruction in prepped Focus ST and Fiesta ST models on the track and autocross course. Some karting action will also be involved as will a tour of Ken Block's Hoonigan Racing headquarters located nearby. If this doesn't sound like enough fun, there is also an optional day of activities that includes some more track time in a Mustang GT and off-road instruction in an F-150 SVT Raptor.
Ford told us that those who have already purchased a Focus ST or Fiesta ST will still be able to attend the performance driving school, but the press release, which is posted below, makes it sound like it applies to original owners only. Ford has yet to announce its schedule for the ST Octane Academy or prices for additional activities or guests.
Project Ugly Horse: Part IX

Nearly every flavor of exotic driveline has been shoved into the ubiquitous Ford at some point or another.
Chuck Schwynoch had been patiently listening to my ramblings on the other end of the phone for a solid half hour. I'm not too big of a man to know when to ask for help, and at this point, I desperately needed some assistance. The truth is, working on a machine like a Fox Body Mustang is as easy as breathing thanks to the wealth of information available on the web. Nearly every flavor of exotic driveline has been shoved into the ubiquitous Ford at some point or another, and odds are the sorry souls behind those builds shared the highs and lows of their torment with the internet community.
Ford posts record pre-tax Q3 profit of $2.6B
Thu, 24 Oct 2013Ford took in $2.6 billion in pre-tax profits in the third quarter of the year, making for a record trio of months that saw the Blue Oval's year-over-year earnings increase by $426 million. The earnings are being attributed not just to improvements in North American sales, but sales around the globe.
Revenue was up 12 percent, to $36 billion, although net income took a hit, dropping $359 million to $1.3 billion. Ford was dinged with $498 million in pre-tax charges, which are being blamed for the drop in net income.
The news has boosted Ford's hopes for full-year results, bumping it's total profits up past $8 billion, according to Automotive News. The Dearborn, MI-based manufacturer is still expecting a loss in Europe, although it's forecasted less than the $1.73 billion it burned in 2012. In fact, according to CFO Bob Shanks, Ford's European losses dropped by 51 percent year-over year, a huge improvement for the brand.
