Here, you are looking at My 1950 Ford F-1  pick-up...

I have had this truck for about 5 years, I purchased it as an all original, unmolested original vehicle.

I did a full frame off restoration, keeping it as close to factory correct as possible.

I did choose a color that I liked that is not a factory color, "Rock Moss Green"

It is running the original 239ci. 100hp. Flat head V-8, and 3 speed manual transmission.

The Frame was coated with Por-15 chassis black and I intalled new motor mounts, I replaced all of the Brakes, Brake lines and hardware.

The only body work the truck needed was new rear cab corners and a few ding and dent repairs, and I put on a New Bed, with new Bed Wood and all new hardware. All was painted with Base Coat Clear Coat "Rock Moss Green".

The Electrical system was converted from 6V to 12V. and I added New Headlights and Tail lights.

The Vacuum wipers were converted to Electric.

Both Water pumps were rebuilt as well as the Carburator.

New battery, and I converted the Generator to an Alternator, with new belts and hoses.

In the cab I have a new Headliner, Door panels, Armrests, Re-appolstered Seat and new Floor rubber.

It also has new Bumpers and Chrome grille.

If you have ever done a restoration like this, you know how much work and money it takes to do it right.

I don't think you will be dissapointed.

Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.

Ford reports $3B profit in Q4, $6.9B for the year

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

Good news out of Dearborn today, as Ford announced $3 billion in profit for the last quarter of 2013, a 90-percent increase over the same period of 2012. Net income for all of last year, meanwhile, jumped to $7.2 billion from $5.7 billion in 2012, while pre-tax profits sat at a decade-topping $6.9 billion for all of 2013.
The results of the substantial profit increases are bigger profit-sharing checks for UAW employees. How big? A record $8,800 on average for 47,000 UAW workers, making 2013 the biggest year for profit sharing in Ford history. In total, $414 million will be paid as part of the profit-sharing scheme.
Now, it should be pointed out that a fair portion of Ford's Q4 profits were due to tax benefits, totaling $2.1 billion, according to Automotive News. Total profits would have also been higher, had there not been a significant recall on the Escape, as well as plant issues in South America.

Ken Block and friends race light in silly-beautiful Castrol commercial

Wed, 28 May 2014

How does one make fast, loud, drifting cars better? Well, you can add more fast, loud, drifting cars or you can add lasers. Either or, really. In this case, Castrol did the right thing and added both, creating a highly stylized commercial for its Edge Titanium motor oil starring South African racer Adrian Zaugg, BMW factory driver Augusto Farfus, Audi DTM and Le Mans staple Mike Rockenfeller and some bloke named Ken Block.
Their cars? No surprise, but Block is in his Ford Fiesta GRC, while Zaugg samples a Lamborghini Aventador and Farfus and Rockenfeller drive along party lines, with a BMW M4 and an Audi R8, respectively. And those cars look good, too, thanks to the creative light and laser work on display.
Take a look below for the video from Castrol.
