1940 Ford pickup. The frame is custom 2x3 box steel. Zeed in back 12 inches. Front axle is 1953 chevy truck axle with new king pins, steering arms, tie rod and drag link from Speedway Motors. Front axle has GM disc brakes. The engine, transmission and rear axle are Chevrolet. Engine is a High Output 305 with electronic ignition with a 650 Holly four barrel, the tanny is a rebuilt turbo 350 with a tranny cooler mounted underneath and the rear axle is a 12 bolt posi with new drum brakes. The rear suspension is modified chevy coil spring with new shocks. This truck comes with two sets of exhaust. The low headers which have 7 inch baffles in them and the zoomies whech have 4 inch baffes in each pipe. The zoomies are on it now. The radiator is a new three core aluminum with an electric pusher fan installed with an electric sending unit that turns the fan on and off automatically. It is wired with a manuel switch also. The fuel tank is a converted beer keg. There is a fuel valve installed so it is easy to replace the in line fuel filter. The tank holds about 12 gallons. That gives you a range of about 150 miles. Behind the fuel tank is an old army amo box for storage. The body is an original 1940 Ford truck that has been narrowed, shortened and chopped. The doors have been converted to suicide doors. The bed is original and modified to fit. The bed floor is old barn wood. The battery is located under the bed floor with an easy access panel. This truck has manuel steering and manuel hydraulic brakes. It has oil pressure, temp and volt guages. All lights work as they should, head lights, tail lights, stop lights and turn signals. Has air horns. The truck sits low, however there are no ground clearence issues. I drive it every where and have never bottomed out. This truck drives staight and stops straight. The rear tires are new and the fronts are about 50 %. The windshield is safety glass. There is no door glass or back window. All the metal is in the doors if you wanted to install door glass, you could. This is a cool ride just the way it sits. If you are handy, it is a great start to a show truck if you want to spend the time and money to do all the body work, paint work and interior work. I have built show rides in the past. This truck gets the same attention at the shows as do the high priced street rods.I have taken best in show in the rat rod class. The graphics on the doors are magnetic. If you don't like them, just take them off. If you are 6 feet tall and 230 pounds or less you will fit in it. Call 239-945-6983 or 239-209-1058 with questions or for a test drive.

Alan Mulally talks about why Ford's Falcon had to die
Tue, 20 Aug 2013When Ford made the decision to end production of the Falcon sedan and Territory CUV in Australia, it wasn't a popular move Down Under. The large, four-door Falcon had been in production for 50 years, and while Ford has reaffirmed its commitment to the Australian market, it's understandable that some people still aren't all that crazy about the Blue Oval's decision.
Speaking to CEO Alan Mulally after Ford's Go Further event in Sydney, Australian site Go Auto reports that the decision was not one made lightly, and that the automaker is doing everything possible to respect the Falcon and Territory's "stakeholders." It's an interesting piece that shows a softer side of a corporation, while demonstrating that Ford is doing everything in its power to make the end of production as smooth as possible for all parties.
Head over to Go Auto for the full series of remarks from Mulally, and then let us know what you think of Ford's handling of the Falcon and Territory discontinuations, in Comments.
Ford ditching Microsoft in favor of BlackBerry QNX for next-gen Sync?
Mon, 24 Feb 2014Ask the average consumer - at least, those who follow the goings-on in the automotive industry - which carmaker they'd most closely associate Microsoft, and the answer you'd most likely get would be Ford. The Blue Oval automaker, after all, was at the forefront of bringing Microsoft technology into cars with its pioneering Sync system, and, though reality didn't turn out as such, Ford's CEO was recently touted as a potential future head of the Redmond-based software giant. But that relationship, according to the latest reports, could be coming to an end.
Alan Mullaly kiboshed the idea of leaving Dearborn for Redmond, but more importantly Ford is tipped to be ditching Microsoft in developing its next-generation Sync system. In its place, Ford is expected to partner with BlackBerry's QNX division.
Now, before you go balking "BlackBerry?! But they're finished!" consider that QNX is (or at least was) an independent entity that Research In Motion (as BlackBerry's Ontario-based parent company was then known) just happened to have bought back in 2010. QNX provides control systems to everything from nuclear power plants and UAVs to automakers like Audi, BMW and Porsche.
Ford rolls out diesel Focus ST at Goodwood [w/poll]
Sun, 29 Jun 2014If you're in the market for a hot hatch, there are some excellent choices at your disposal - especially if you live in Europe. But if you want a diesel, well, your choices become rather more limited. Volkswagen tends to that niche market with the Golf GTD (essentially an oil-burning version of the GTI available Stateside), but that's about the extent of it. The pleas of those looking for more diesel-burning hot hatch choices haven't fallen on deaf ears at Ford, with the Blue Oval not only rolling out a facelifted gas-powered Focus ST at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, but also a new diesel version as well.
The diesel Focus ST (which we hope and pray isn't marketed as the STD) packs a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four producing 182 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque to propel the oil-burning hot hatch to 62 in 8.1 seconds en route to a top speed of 135 miles per hour. With less power and only slightly more torque, that makes the diesel Focus ST considerably slower than the gasoline one, which packs 252 hp and 270 lb-ft, runs to 62 in 6.5 seconds and tops out at 154 mph, but (in a testament to how far particulate filters have come) the diesel model cuts carbon emissions by nearly a third compared to the petrol version and returns about 50-percent better fuel economy, which makes that much more of a difference in markets where diesel is already priced better than gasoline at the pump.
For buyers who wouldn't consider anything other than a diesel, it also represents 23-percent more power than the previous top-level diesel Focus. The VW Golf GTD, for reference, offers up 181 hp (just 1 horse less), 280 lb-ft (15 fewer torques) but is somehow estimated to reach 60 in a considerably fleeter 7.4 seconds.
