This stunning limited edition 2007 SHELBY HERTZ convertible awaits you in Sunny So Cal!  Have fun and turn heads in this gorgeous black and gold Shelby Hertz.   This RARE LOW, LOW MILEAGE car has never been hit and has no dents or dings.

The cloth convertible top is in perfect condition.  We have the matching cloth boot, which many of these cars do not have.    The interior is in perfect condition.  The exterior paint has a few tiny chips on the door edges from its rental days, but NO dents or dings.

As you can see, the car has been signed by Carroll himself! Well, not really. We did add vinyl decal reproductions of Carroll Shelby's signature in the correct metallic GOLD color on each side of the car before the last show the car appeared in.  :)   Our plan was to remove them after the show, but since they are so eye-catching, we decided to leave them on for a while.   The vinyl decals will peel right off if you don't want them, and we will remove them for you in that case.

Everything on this car works!! We replaced the tires with the exact factory ones about 2 years ago, so they have very low mileage on them.  We have all the service records and the original rental keys with the Hertz key tags, convertible top boot cover, original dash ID tag, some Hertz items (cup, note pad, etc.).   My husband bought me this car because I'd undergone some major surgery and he wanted me to have some fun. FUN INDEED!  I LOVE driving this car and it gets so much attention everywhere I go in it.   However, I am not a very aggressive driver, so the car has been treated gently...I have never abused it and have not driven it "hard".    The stripes are currently in need of replacing, which in our experience needs to be done every 2-3 years.   If we don't sell the car, we will likely have the stripes painted this time around so that they never need replacing again.

We participate as a family in So. Cal Mustang and Shelby car shows and this beautiful unique car has won many trophies, which you will receive with your purchase.

ALSO, and this is a BIG ALSO.......I have a Carroll Shelby autographed airbag cover--the correct factory airbag cover for this car!!!!!    It has never been installed on any car, but now that Carroll is no longer with us, this makes this goodie a fantastic opportunity to have his autograph on the dash of your 2007 Shelby Hertz, which will make the car even more of a rarity!  If you want this item, you will have first dibs on it for an additional $850.00 at the end of the auction.  Otherwise, it will be listed on eBay after the car is sold.

I have some other rare goodies, like a vintage Hertz garment back in black with gold stripes to match the car, gold Hertz polo shirts, a matching baseball cap, posters, magazine ads, Hot Wheels.....the buyer of this car will have first notice about auctions on these extra items that I will be listing on eBay when the car is sold.  Or.....you can make me an offer.   :)

This gorgeous Shelby GT-H can be inspected by appointment here in Torrance, California. I will be happy to email additional photos upon request.

Buyer is responsible for arranging pick up and all transportation fees. A $2000 deposit is required within 48 hours of the end of the auction, which you may pay via Paypal. Balance to be paid within 30 days of the close of auction by either cashier's check or in person at a local (Torrance area) branch of your bank.    If you pay by cashier's check, the check must clear before we can arrange shipment of the car.   The car will continue to be stored in our garage for up to 30 days.

These are 2014's best-selling cars and trucks

Tue, Jan 6 2015

Now that 2014 is no more than a set of numbers on spreadsheets, at last, the grist mill gets its first real load to chew on. The number one selling vehicle in America last year was the Ford F-Series, a fact that should surprise you only if your family name is Van Winkle and your naps tend to last 38 years, which is how long the Ford pickup has ruled our buying landscape. Even though series sales were down 1.3 percent, it still racked up 753,851 units. That's 2,065.3 sales per day, every day, all year. The Chevrolet Silverado, up 10.3 percent for the year, was still a daylight second at 529,755 units. The cab-and-bed love continued into third place with the Ram 1500-3500 trucks, gaining 23.6-percent year-on-year to clock 439,789 units. The robust turnout at The Bighorn and Jeep helped Fiat-Chrysler increase its sales by 16 percent, past the two-million mark. Our number one car? The Toyota Camry, staying in first place with a 4.9-percent sales boost to 428,606 sales, trailed again by the Honda Accord at number five with 388,374 sales. Accord sales rose six percent, and if it's any consolation to Honda for coming in second - not that it needs one - it is the only manufacturer to have three vehicles in the top ten. The rest of the list: the Nissan Altima with 335,644 sales (+4.7%), the Honda CR-V with 355,019 (+10.2%), the Toyota Corolla/Matrix combo with 339,498 (+5.9%), the Honda Civic with 325,981 (-3.1%), and the Ford Fusion with 306,860 sales (+2.9%). Total sales for the year were up six percent to 16.5 million vehicles, a volume not seen since 2006, aided by a strong December that was up by 11 percent year-on-year. Ford was the top selling brand overall but sales didn't really budge from 2013, while Subaru rocketed up 21 percent to finish with 513,693 sales. At the precious end, BMW, Audi, Porsche and Land Rover all had record years, and Kelley Blue Book thinks we could be looking at 17 million sales for the next two or three years. Looks like it's time to start making hay again... Ford pulling out of V8 Supercars after 2015

Tue, Dec 2 2014

Australian racing fans are staring down the end of an era as news breaks that Ford will no longer participate in the V8 Supercars series. Although the official announcement has yet to be made, the decision – as reported widely in the automotive press Down Under and in global motorsport publications – indicates that the Blue Oval automaker has already confirmed its intentions to its shareholders early on Monday to shut down its factory effort in the popular tin-top series at the end of next season. The move will mark the end of an era for what has become the International V8 Supercars Championship. Alongside GM's Holden division, Ford was one of only two manufacturers competing in the series from its inception in the late 1990s through last year when a change in regulations opened the door for entries from Nissan, Volvo and Mercedes. Further rule changes are expected to attract even more manufacturers to the series, with Lexus said to be first among them. Over the past eighteen seasons, the V8 Supercars Championship has been won in a Holden Commodore fourteen times, leaving Ford to win the title only four times with successive versions of the Falcon. Eleven of the cars on the grid this season were Commodores, compared to only seven Ford Falcons between two teams that will need to switch to another manufacturer for the season after next – although some could opt to stick with their Fords for one more season, even without factory support, until the open 2016 regulations take effect. The decision follows Ford's announcement last year that it will cease manufacturing in Australia by 2016, ending a 90-year presence Down Under that stretches back to 1925. Blue Oval models like the Falcon, previously unique to the Aussie market, are being replaced by imported models like the Mondeo and Mustang.

Detroit and Silicon Valley: When cultures collide

Fri, May 26 2017

Culture is a subject that rarely, if never, gets discussed when traditional auto companies buy — or hugely invest — in Silicon Valley-based companies. The conversation surrounding the investments is usually about how the tech looks appealing and how it's an appropriate step to move the automakers toward autonomy. Culture — the way things are done, the expectations, and the approaches — is something that is overlooked only at one's peril. The potential cultural gap is almost always evident in the obligatory photos of the participants in these deals, with is essentially a photo op of auto execs with their Silicon Valley counterparts. The former — rocking jeans and no ties — look like parochial school kids playing hooky. Don't worry: The regimental outfits will be back in place once they get back in the Eastern time zone. Consider what happened back in 1998 when Daimler bought Chrysler. First of all, there was a denial in Detroit that it happened. It was positioned as a "merger of equals." Which it wasn't. In any corporate situation, when one has more than 50 percent of the business, it owns the whole thing. And the German company was in the proverbial driver's seat. People who were around Auburn Hills back then kept their heads down and their German Made Simple books at hand. Things did not go well. Daimler had had enough by 2007, when it offloaded Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management — which brought ex-Home Depot CEO Bob Nardelli into the picture, which is a story onto itself. But when you think about the Daimler-Chrysler situation, realize that these were two car companies (at least the Mercedes part of the Daimler organization), so they had that in common, and the language of engineers is something of an Esperanto based on math, so there was that, too. Yet it simply didn't work. It doesn't take too many viewings of HBO's Silicon Valley to know that the business people in that part of the world are far more aggressive than people who ordinarily head and control car companies in Detroit. About 20 years ago, a book came out about the founder of Oracle titled The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison* - and the asterisk on the book jacket leads to: God Doesn't Think He's Larry Ellison. It would be hard to imagine a book about a Detroit executive, even a book that had the decided bias that the tome about Ellison evinces, that would be quite so searing. Sure, there are egos. But they are still perceived to be, overall, "nice" people.
