This car is just about the way it was in 1996, showroom new-only 17 years older. It has been babied from day one.  The first owner bought the car from McCrackin Ford in Pittsburg, PA.  He owned 2 Pizza restaurants and didn't have time to drive the car. My son saw the car advertised on the internet and called from South Korea, where he was stationed with the Air Force, and said he wanted that car.  We acquired the car with about 1200(?) miles on the odometer.  We drove the car to our home in Virginia and parked it in our garage. Our son finally flew in from Korea and drove the car to Little Rock, AR. He got about 27 MPG on the trip back to Arkansas. The paint on the car is immaculate.  There is one small spot on the passenger side of the driving light where the paint lifted (see picture). The back seat looks like its never been sat on. The headliner, dash and carpet are in very good condition with no tears or rips.  The engine compartment and trunk are also very clean.  I don't think the spare tire has ever been out of the trunk. He lived on base and rode his bicycle to work a lot of the time instead of driving the car. He enjoyed taking the car to drive-in events and car shows.  He washed and waxed the car before every show. He saw a Dodge Viper advertised in Atlanta, GA. So we went to Atlanta to look at the Viper. We drove the Viper home and the Mystic was parked in my shop. I have a 50X100 foot insulated shop. My son spent two tours in Saudi and Afganistan with a side trip to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Then he got reassigned to Las Vegas and then to Abilene, TX. He decided not to take the car to Las Vegas or Texas, so the car lives in my shop.  I keep the car in running condition. We put AMSOIL synthetic oil in the car (I'm an AMSOIL dealer) and start it up and run it for 20 to 30 minutes at a time. I drive it around the driveway to keep the seals, etc, lubricated. The only modifications made to the car are tinted windows and a new battery. I still have the original battery (if you want it for displaying in the car at shows, etc).  I think we threw away the original oil filter. We keep a car cover on the car when not driving it. The car cover can go with the car (if you want it). We have enjoyed the car and are still amazed that the car turns different colors when the light hits it from different directions.  It is a very pretty shade of green and changes colors to purple, root beer brown and a golden color depending on where you are and where the light is coming from. (It was really fun when getting the car tagged when they asked what color it was!) It also turns peoples heads when they pass it on the street. My daughter-in-law saw a plum crazy SRT Challenger and absolutely had to have it so its time to sell the Cobra.  We have a binder with the original window sticker, the letter from Ford SVT verifying that the car is #139 of 2000 with the Mystic paint, a certificate of authenticity, a sales brochure specifically for the 1996 Mustang Cobra SVT, including the salesman's business card.  We also have a clear title.  We used the car as collateral for the loan.  The credit union placed a lien on the car but stamped it paid in full when the loan was paid. If you need additional information please feel free to ask any questions.  I'm not a wizard on the computer so it may take a while to get any questions you may have answered, but I will try to quickly resolve any concerns you may have about the car.  I don't think you will be disappointed when you see the car in person.

You can now order Domino's pizza from your Sync-equipped Ford

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

The news keeps pouring in from the Consumer Electronics Show now underway in Las Vegas, and the latest comes from Ford which has announced two new apps for its Sync AppLink system.
First up is a cooperative app launched by Ford together with Domino's Pizza that lets drivers of the former order pizza from the latter right from their car. The service allows those with Ford Sync AppLink in their car or truck and are registered with a Domino's Pizza Profile to place an order for their favorite pie using Dearborn's voice-recognition software for either pickup or delivery. Save your information in your Pizza Profile and it'll be sent to your house without even the push of a button, which strikes us as awesome a use of technology as we've ever seen.

How the Ram Multifunction Tailgate compares to Ford, GMC, Honda

Wed, Feb 6 2019

Ram just announced its Multifunction Tailgate — a descriptive if not very creative name. It's an asymmetrical barn-door arrangement, which can both fold down like a conventional tailgate or swing open like a gate. There's a new bed step, but unlike Ford or GM, the step isn't part of the tailgate itself. Rather, it kicks out from under the bumper (as opposed to out from under the driver's side of the rear bumper in its previous incarnation). So let's just focus on the tailgate functionality. A video of the Ram Multifunction Tailgate in action is above. For one, either of the swinging tailgate sections can be opened independently. They open to a full 88 degrees. In conventional flip-down mode, the tailgate works just like a normal one, too, with a 2,000-pound rating. The bottom line is that while it gives a variety of types of access to the load area, it doesn't "do" anything else. It's a $995 option on any Ram 1500. Its closest analogue is the Honda Ridgeline, which works basically the same way, but on that truck the tailgate swings as one piece. And the Honda's load rating isn't as hefty as the Ram's tailgate: 300 pounds. As Honda says, that's sufficient to hold the weight of the part of an ATV hanging out of the bed, or something similar, but it's a lighter-duty unit (and a lighter-duty truck) than the Ram's overall. Let's also get Ford's one-trick tailgate out of the way before comparing to the more analogous, and complicated, GM MultiPro. A bit of trivia: Ford's optional Tailgate Step is actually designed and supplied by Multimatic, better known as the outfit that builds the Ford GT and produces the DSSV spool-valve shocks. This step has been available for years. It pulls out of the top edge of the tailgate when the tailgate is lowered, deploying a single step. A separate handle pulls out from beside the step and flips up, giving a handhold. While it was initially (and infamously) mocked by competitors, with load floor heights as high as they are it's better than toting around a stepstool. It's currently a $375 standalone option. Now we get to the GMC MultiPro tailgate, the most complicated and multi-functioned around. It's essentially a tailgate within a tailgate, with a fold-out stopper that deploys from the inner tailgate. This gives it several functions depending on the position of all the parts. It can still be used like a normal tailgate, dropping down at the push of a button or using the key fob.

Final 2015 Ford Edge performance and fuel economy data released

Fri, Feb 6 2015

Ford unveiled the brawny look and heap of new tech of the all-new 2015 Edge last summer, and confirmed some of the pricing in November. However, until now buyers couldn't be entirely sure what they are getting for that money in terms of power and fuel economy, but the Blue Oval is finally spilling all the beans. For customers looking for performance, the Edge Sport is the place to be with its stiffer suspension and plusher interior. The trim level uses a version of the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 found in the latest F-150, but in this case the engine is tuned to 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. That's a 10 percent jump in power and 25 percent improvement in torque compared to the naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6 in the last-gen model, according to Ford. The mill should be a bit more useable too with peak twist coming on at 2,750 rpm, rather than 4,000 rpm in the previous Edge, and the Active Noise Cancellation system should keep it quiet inside, too. Front-wheel-drive versions of the Sport get EPA-estimated economy of 18 miles per gallon city, 27 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined. Opting for all-wheel drive reduces the figures to 17/24/20, respectively. Of course, not everyone is looking for the power of the Sport trim. In a first for Ford, the standard engine for the Edge is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 245 hp and 275 lb-ft. In front-wheel-drive form, it's rated at 20/30/24 mpg or with all-wheel drive at 20/28/23. For something in the middle the naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 brings 280 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque and carries EPA estimates of 18/26/21 with front-wheel drive or 17/25/20 when powering all four wheels. Every powertrain gets a six-speed automatic. Sales for the latest Edge begin this spring starting at $28,100, plus $895 destination on all models. Upgrading to the Sport pushes the price up to $38,100. Performance and Power: 2015 Ford Edge Sport Certified as Highest-Performing Edge Yet • 2015 Ford Edge Sport is the most powerful Edge yet, thanks to a 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V6 making 315 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque • All-new Edge Sport, re-engineered from the ground up, features special sport-tuned suspension, specific Sport styling for exterior and interior, and a long list of available driver-assist technologies • Scheduled to go on sale this spring, pricing for 2015 Ford Edge starts at $28,100; Edge Sport starts at $38,100 – only a $500 increase from 2014 DEARBORN, Mich., Feb.
