1969 Mach 1 Big Block 428 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet for sale. I have the Marti report and pictures of the door VIN number and the engine number. I also have links to the videos on youtube of the underside of the car as well as the car in action. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL 428 BIG BLOCK COBRA JET ENGINE. This has a clear title, and has been restored in 2006-2008 (interior, new crank, headers, and exhaust). This car was purchased from California in 2006 and has no rust and has never been in the rain - I have had this car stored from the elements in a secured garage and under a cover in between use. The exhaust specialist said that the underside of the car is a "9 out of 10" when we had it hoisted last week. The transmission is the original manual transmission. The interior is new in 2006 (original mustang interior) and is black and red with black carpet. The odometer reads 88,534 but has had an engine rebuild and only 1800 miles have been put on after engine rebuild. All of the glass is in excellent condition. VIN 9F02Q139130. There are blemishes on the paint, I have detailed pictures of that and a diagram, contact me for that to see the chips and blemishes. Things that could be done:-The emergency brake is broken and needs to be replaced but that is a minor cost. -The exhaust needs to be adjusted and that will run 150.00-200.00 depending on your location. -The rear springs are the original springs and could be replaced, this will run 300.00 Otherwise, this car lights up in seconds! Serious buyers ask me for videos and I will send you the link. Please see the details below to determine what has been done to the car: In 2006 -Ford Edelbrook Int Manifold -HP FEL PRO INT gasket set -428 Ford Water Pump -428 Ford Forged Pistons -Balance 428 Ford Engine Complete -428 Ford Center Force Clutch Set -M57HV Melling Oil Pump -IS60 Melling Pump Drive Also Rebuilt original Big Block engine new Ford crank (700.00) bigger carburetor new header new spoiler on back window new spoiler on trunk lid transmission redone because crank was bad new aluminum radiator for cooling VIN DETAILS Body: Mustang Dual headlamps were introduced in 1969, with the extra pair set into the outer area of the grille. The corralled grille pony was replaced with the pony and tribars logo, set off-center to the drivers side. The wheelbase remained 108 inches, but the overall length increased by almost 4 inches, and the width increased by almost half an inch. Coupes, fastbacks, and convertibles were still offered, but new models joined the lineup: Mach 1, Boss, and Grandé. All of these models took their toll on GT sales; they were continued in 1970, but the GT was not. Only about 50 Mustang Es were produced. They were economy cars with a 250ci six cylinder engine, automatic transmission with a special torque converter, and a low 2.33:1 rear axle ratio. They were all sportsroofs, and had Mustang 'E' lettering on the rear quarters. The 351cid V-8 was introduced in 1969, and was available with 250 or 290 hp. For those wanting more power, the 335-hp 428cid Cobra Jet V-8 big block was available with or without Ram-Air. More than 80 percent of Mustangs in 1969 had V-8 engines. The Mach 1 was essentially a fastback GT with different stripes and a more upscale interior. A spoiler and rear window louvers were optional. The Mach 1 included the GT's non-functional hood scoop. A functional "Shaker" scoop was available. It was mounted on top of a special air cleaner and protruded though the hood. A vacuum-operated door opened when the throttle was floored, allowing cool air into the carburetor. The scoop was standard on the 428 Cobra Jet Ram-Air V-8 and optional for Mach 1 or GT with 351 or 390 engines. The stripe package was reflective. A flat black rear spoiler was not an option early, but became available late in the model year. Engine: 8 Cyl. 428 CID The 428 Cobra Jet, launched in April 1968, was a version of the 428 FE engine built for performance rather than cruising smoothness. Not a true racing engine, but it was sufficient for street use or amateur drag racing. The 428 Cobra Jet could be made on a regular production line, not requiring the exacting tolerances required by the 427. The 428 Cobra Jet has greater low-end torque than the 427, thanks to its longer stroke. The Cobra Jet used a beefed-up version of the 428 block with an extra main bearing webbing and thicker main caps than the standard block. The engine was underrated at 335 hp (250 kW) at 5200 rpm. The 428 Cobra Jet actually produced 400 to 410 hp (299-306 kW).

Tanner Foust gets eponymous hotted-up Ford Focus ST from Cobb Tuning
Thu, 14 Mar 2013Racer and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust has partnered up with Cobb Tuning to create a special-edition Ford Focus ST. The limited-edition hatches will come packing a reflashed ECU, special intercooler, tweaked intake and freer-flowing exhaust for up to 20 percent more power than the stock creation. Cobb says that the changes should push the final dyno figure to above 300 horsepower. Buyers can also expect to find special carbon fiber aerodynamic bits on board along with a new grille, graphics and wheels. Cobb hasn't released pricing on this Tanner Foust Edition Ford Focus ST as of yet, but you can bet the whole kit won't be cheap.
Fortunately, the company will sell you bits and pieces from the overall package for your Ford, and word has it engineers are also whipping up a Foust Fiesta ST. Look for Cobb's Focus ST website to go live next month, complete with accurate specs and pricing. Until then, enjoy clicking through the gallery here. Ford to cease Australian automaking operations after 90 years
Thu, 23 May 2013Ford began manufacturing cars in Australia in 1925 with the Model T. In 2016, Ford will stop manufacturing cars Down Under, including the Falcon and the Territory SUV. Ford Australia CEO Bob Graziano has reportedly confirmed the closure of the company's Broadmeadows assembly plant and the Geelong engine plant, both in the state of Victoria. There will be 650 jobs lost at Broadmeadows, 510 sacrificed at Geelong. Of the roughly 3,000 workers the Blue Oval has in Australia, it's said it will try to retain about 1,000 of them at its R&D and product development facilities.
The writing hasn't just been on the wall, it's been a regular item in all the papers and on Ford's bottom line for years. As recently as 2003, Ford sold nearly 75,000 Falcons, but over the next four years, annual sales dropped by something like 10,000 units, and over the last two years, it has sold less than 20,000 per year. It isn't only Ford that has suffered - sales of the other large, locally produced sedan, the Holden Commodore, have also gone over the precipice, triggering the same kind of angst about Holden's continued existence. Ford is the smallest of Australia's local automakers, Holden and Toyota the others, and has posted losses of $AUD141 million last year ($136M US) and $AUD600 million ($580M US) in the past five years. Graziano said the cost of manufacturing is simply too expensive in the country, twice as high as Europe and three times as high as Asia, and there no way to make a business case for staying in the country.
In January 2012, Ford Australia announced it would stay in the country until at least 2016, but by July of the same year, most outside observers were quietly declaring that 2016 would be the last year of Ford Down Under, and even the speculation was making other observers nervous. Ford received money from the Victorian government last year to aid its refresh of the Falcon and Territory, which will continue on schedule for the 2014 model year. A front- and all-wheel-drive sedan on a global platform is predicted to replace the Falcon, with some other SUV expected to replace the Territory. The company says it still intends to expand its lineup in the country.
Ford cuts F-150 fuel use through CNG-capable fleet sales, EcoBoost
Tue, May 13 2014The possibility of $1-a-gallon fuel would make a lot of US governmental entities sit up and take notice. The state of Oklahoma and the city of Dallas are making that happen. Those two entities are buying up a bunch of Ford F-150 pickups retrofitted to run on compressed natural gas (CNG), all in the name of cost savings and emissions reduction. Oklahoma is buying 256 of the F-150s, while Dallas is buying another 65. The trucks, which cost between $6,000 and $9,500 to retrofit (on top of the original price), can run on either CNG or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). And while that's a substantial hit, conversion costs are typically paid back in three years thanks to lower refueling costs. CNG prices are as low as $1.07 a gallon in parts of Oklahoma. How much lower? The national average price for CNG is about a buck and a half less than the $3.67 average per-gallon cost of gasoline. And CNG prices are as low as $1.07 a gallon in parts of Oklahoma, where CNG is plentiful. CNG also cuts tailpipe greenhouse gas emissions by about 20 percent compared with gasoline, while the retrofitted trucks can go as far as 450 miles from their CNG tanks in addition to the 300-mile range from their conventional tanks. That's useful in a bit state like Texas. This week, the US Energy Department trumpeted a $5.9-billion loan program that Ford accessed to upgrade its factories for production of its EcoBoost engines, noting that Ford has sold a half-million F-150 trucks with EcoBoost engines. Those trucks have collectively cut fuel use by almost 57 million gallons of gas during the past three-plus years. Check out Ford's press release on the F-150 purchases below and the Energy Department's statement about its loan program here. OKLAHOMA, DALLAS ORDER 300-PLUS CNG-CAPABLE FORD F-150 PICKUPS AS DEMAND GROWS FOR ALTERNATIVE FUEL OPTION The state of Oklahoma and its agencies to buy 256 Ford F-150 trucks prepped to run on compressed natural gas; Dallas orders 65 for its fleet 2014 F-150 available with gaseous-fuel prep option on 3.7-liter V6 engine; can run on CNG or liquefied petroleum gas (also called propane autogas) By summer, Ford will offer eight vehicles that can run on clean-burning, affordable CNG; the company is on track to sell more than 15,000 such vehicles in 2014 The state of Oklahoma, its agencies and the city of Dallas have ordered a total of 321 Ford F-150 pickups that can run on compressed natural gas.
