2001 - Ford Mustang on 2040-cars
Houston, Pennsylvania, United States
2001 Mustang GT with automatic transmission that’s been upgraded visually with many 2001 Bullitt, 2003 Mach 1 and 2001-2004 Cobra styling cues and many performance upgrades. I’m selling this car for a good friend, who’s owned it for the last five years. I know this car extremely well because I was its previous owner. Between the both of us, there’s over 30K invested into it. My friend named it The SuperCobraBullStang 1, who is a certified Ford mechanic and the most talented mechanic I know. He did all the mechanical changes why I owned the car, and of course has done all of the work since owning it. It’s a 48,800 mile adult owned GT equipped with every option available in 2001. This car is in near new condition, inside and out. It has been meticulously maintained, both mechanically and cosmetically. Interior upgrades include: leather 2003 Mach 1 seats, the 2003 Mustang complete Interior Upgrade Package (silver center dash and console bezels, shifter trim rings, 4 way headrests, upgraded pedal covers and aluminum lock posts), MGW satin finish aluminum heater control knobs and deluxe parking brake handle, a touchscreen stereo mated to the Mach 460 system and a MRT Interceptor instrument cluster and Autometer gauges. Outside upgrades include: 18” Chrome Foose Nitros wheels, 01 factory Cobra front bumper cover with a factory Mach 1 chin spoiler, Bullitt rear quarter glass and C pillar trim, factory 04 Cobra rocker covers, 04 Cobra folding side mirrors, a factory Mach 1 hood with the Shaker hood scoop, a painted engine compartment with RedLine hood struts, a Cervinis rear spoiler, tinted tail lights and center mount brake light with LED sequential turn signals and a keyless entry keypad. Now for the performance upgrades. The suspension and brakes have all been updated, starting with a complete 04 Cobra Independent Rear Suspension with a 3:55 ring and pinion, complete 01 Bullitt brakes, front and back with new Hawk brake pads and powder coated centric front and rear rotors, Tokico DSpec adjustable struts and shocks, an 01 Bullitt front sway bar, Maximum Motorsports caster/camber plates, Eibach lowering springs and Steeda full length frame connectors. Now for the go fast parts. The engine has been upgraded with a 2.1 litre Kenne Bell roots mammoth supercharger that can produce up to 1,000 HP. It makes 9 lbs of boost, which according to Kenne Bell should be making 400 rwhp. Other upgrades include the Kenne Bell upgraded intake with 75 mm throttle body, 42 lb fuel injectors and MSD coil packs. The engine also has a set of custom aluminum cam covers. The transmission has been upgraded with a Level 10 billet torque convertor, a Level 10 performance valve body and a LPW aluminum deep transmission pan. The exhaust is a Magnaflow high flow stainless steel h pipe with cats and a Mangaflow stainless steel catback system. With all of the performance upgrades, this car has never been beat or raced. It is extremely fast and an absolute blast to drive. It handles like it’s on rails and stops on a dime. It’s truly a one of a kind car and probably one of the nicest 2001 Mustang GTs in existence.

IIHS updates overlap test: 2 SUVs get good marks, 9 fare poorly
Tue, Dec 13 2022Vehicles in crashes keep occupants safe by deforming around the cabin in a way that maintains cabin integrity. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's moderate overlap test, introduced in 1995, has been a huge contributor to improved safety for front-row passengers in a crash. IIHS President David Harkey said, "Thanks to automakers improvements, drivers in most vehicles are nearly 50% less likely to be killed in a frontal crash today than they were 25 years ago." In the 'unintentional side effects' column, crash safety has gotten worse for passengers in the back seats. When carmakers reengineered the front crash structure to protect the driver, more crash forces got distributed throughout the rear. IIHS research claims rear passengers have a 46% greater risk of fatal injury than front-row passengers, but back-seaters haven't benefited from the same upgrades in safety as the front row. The IIHS updated its moderate overlap test to address the issue, putting 15 vehicles through the new regime. Two earned good ratings the 2023 Ford Escape and the 2021-2023 Volvo XC40 one was acceptable, three were marginal and nine were rated poor. Every one of the crossovers sampled got good marks for all passengers in the original test. That test sees 40% of vehicle's width on the driver's side impacting an aluminum honeycomb barrier at 40 miles per hour. The updated test puts a crash dummy representing small woman or 12-year-old child in the seat behind the driver, the dummy's sensors and grease paint measuring the effectiveness of the restraints and the forces a human body would need to endure. To achieve a good rating, the "measurements must not exceed limits indicating excessive risk of injury to the head, neck, chest, abdomen or thigh." An institute engineer said, "In real-world crashes, chest injuries are the most common serious rear-seat injuries for adults." The sensors and video evidence showed back seat dummies in the Escape and XC40 endured minimal risk of injuries from excessive crash forces, from submarining under the seat belt, or from unwanted interaction with the side curtain airbag. The Toyota RAV4 scored acceptable. The second-row dummy also endured minimal risk of injury to the chest and lower extremities. However, the lap belt slipped upward in a way that could increase abdominal injuries, and after the dummy's head dipped during crash impact, the head came back up between the rear curtain airbag and rear window.
North American Car, Truck and SUV of the Year finalists revealed
Thu, Nov 17 2022The finalists for the 2023 North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards were announced Thursday at the L.A. Auto Show. The Acura Integra, Genesis Electrified G80 and Nissan Z made the cut in the car category. The Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevy Silverado ZR2 and Lordstown Endurance advanced in trucks. And the Cadillac Lyriq, Genesis GV60 and Kia EV6 advanced among utilities. The winners will be announced Jan. 11 in Detroit. The finalists underscored the industrys shift to electric vehicles, as all three utilities and two of the three trucks are EVs. The finalists were culled from a list of 26 semifinalists made up of three trucks, 10 cars and 16 utility vehicles that are new this year. Notables that missed the cut include the Mercedes EQE, Subaru WRX and Toyota GR Corolla in cars; while the Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage and Rivian R1S were among the utes that did not advance. The three trucks are the only ones eligible this year and have advanced through the voting. 50 jurors who work for media outlets across North America vote three times over the course of the year to whittle down the field, which was originally 47 vehicles. Jurors also test the semifinalists at an October group event in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Honda Civic (car), Ford Maverick (truck) and Ford Bronco (utility vehicle) were the 2022 winners.
