The reserve is set well below what I have into the car, and is quite reasonable. Don't let it scare you off from bidding.

Up for auction is my 1986 Mustang GT Convertible. This is a rust free, California car that has 146,xxx accident free miles on it. I have the clear Calif title in hand. If you are a CA buyer, please be aware that the car was last registered in 2004. If you are a buyer from anywhere but CA, this isn't a problem. If you are a CA buyer, it will have back fees due, but if you'd like, I can register it in my new home state and then sign it over with a fresh WA title.

It has factory AC, automatic transmission, 5.0 liter fuel injected 302 V8 engine. This car drove and handled perfectly when parked. This car was not my daily driver and was always garaged. The AC blew cold, and the top worked as it should. All instruments, lights, horn, switches etc operated as they should. The trunk retains it's original carpet in very good condition. The trunk is completely free of rust...under the carpet, in the spare tire well, underside of the trunk lid...nothing, no rust at all in these rust prone areas. The underside of the car is also completely rust free. The original spare tire is there along with the correct original jack and lug wrench. This was always adult owned, and never raced or abused.

This last year, it was moved to the side of my house and kept under a cover. The paint could use touching up as it has some paint chipping and small scratches that always seem to occur when a vehicle sits in a garage. It is now parked and covered at a relatives house (In central Calif near Yosemite) awaiting it's new home. My dream was to turn it into a Saleen clone and show car, so I parked it intending to make that happen. A lot of work was completed on it before I ran out of money, and it then sat. I was always "going to get to it someday", but I now realize that isn't going to happen. The car is complete, and the engine turns over freely. Connect the throttle position sensor and throttle cables up, toss in a battery, and it would probably start, but the gas is 10 years old and I really don't want to run that into the engine.

I have put a LOT of time and money into this project. The wheels are the very hard to find, vintage ARE Saleen style basket weave wheels. There new shocks and struts at all four corners with H&R performance springs, along with urethane bushings. The front end needs to have an alignment done to it because of the new parts being installed. The brakes need to be bled since I hadn't done that yet after changing over to Russel steel braided brake lines. Under the hood I added polished aluminum underdrive pulleys (the stock originals will be included), an electric fan set up, a BBK cold air intake (the stock original is included with the car), and chrome radiator plumbing. The AC compressor, intake manifold, and various aluminum brackets have been polished, though they need to be hit with some aluminum polish to bring back their luster at this point. There are also polished stainless steel engine dress up pieces throughout the engine compartment. Basically if it couldn't be chromed or polished, it was to be painted, and much of that has already been completed. I installed heavy duty, adjustable strut tower plates, and a chrome strut tower brace from Maximum Motorsports. All of this stuff had been added over the years, and doesn't even have a single mile on them yet.

Inside you'll find newer carpet and mats, recovered front Slaeen seats with the correct net headrest, a MOMO leather steering wheel(the original is included) , a Sony detachable face CD playerSony photo 41_zps2e39eb0a.jpg, Rockford speakers, a nice dash-pad that unfortunately has developed a single crack. The top was replaced a year or two before it was parked. It is free of any cracks or tears, and is quite pliable and in good shape. A scrubbing and some top dressing would make it look like brand new. The original convertible top boot is included along with it's original storage bag. Both are in amazing condition.Convertible boot photo 26_zpsedffadd6.jpg

Also included is a set of heavy duty Maximum Motorsports sub-frame connectors that still need to be installed. Included are the other parts I had purchased but had not yet installed: BBK ceramic coated shorty headers and gaskets,Header photo 30_zps5d15f34f.jpg original intake manifold, Original stock intake photo 31_zps144abc5f.jpga new front end bra,Brand bew bra photo 28_zps56594d72.jpg Trans-Go shift kit with new transmission filter and NOS Ford shift cable, Trans items photo 37_zps636c61e4.jpg2 NOS Ford window channel dew wipes, NOS dew wipes photo 33_zps06057ff9.jpg Urethane A arm bushings (I may have installed new A-arms with bushings already, I don't remember. These may be extras).Bushings photo 36_zps3e7dbf81.jpg

I have several boxes of parts, including the door pockets and the original 1986 plug wires (almost impossible to find if you are interested in restoration). I have probably forgotten some info that may be important to you, so please feel free to message me with your questions, and I'll be happy to answer them here.

The car is located in Coarsegold, CA 93614. The buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup or shipping. Local pick-up preferred, but if shipping is needed, YOU are responsible for all arrangements. Vehicle will not ship or leave until it is paid for in full.

Buy Ford and GM stock and make 5%

Tue, Feb 2 2016

Want to make a five-percent return when 10-year treasuries are paying around two percent? Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) have solid balance sheets, strong cash flow, solid earnings, and growing markets. By all accounts, they are smart investments. But the market is down on these stocks. Why? Some of the stupid excuses include: They are cyclical companies The Detroit 3 have lost 3.5 million in sales since 2000 The world economy is shaky GM recently filed for bankruptcy Their markets have peaked They haven't changed their ways Let's take these criticisms one by one: They Are Cyclical Companies Yes, they are cyclical. Every company is cyclical. Every industry is cyclical. Some more than others, but not every company is immune from swings in the market. Banks used to be 'non-cyclical' leader, not anymore. Airline stocks are just as cyclical as auto stocks, yet they are trading at multiples greater than the auto industry. Why? And what accounts for the irrational stock price for Tesla (TSLA)? At least Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) make money and have positive cash flows. In fact, both companies have a net positive cash position. They have more cash on hand than liabilities. Auto sales in the United States hit a record 17.5 million vehicles in 2015. During the Great Recession, Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) cut their break even points to 10 million vehicles per year. Anything above an annual U.S. volume of 10 million vehicles is profit. And what a profit they make. Sales of Ford's F-150 continues to be the best-selling vehicle in the United States for over 30 years. Detroit 3 Have Lost 3.5 million in Sales Since 2000 Automotive News reports General Motors (GM), Ford (F) and Chrysler (FCA) have lost a combined 3.5 million vehicles sales since 2000. So how can they be making more money? Two big reasons – Fleet Sales and the UAW. Fleet Sales The Detroit 3 used to own car rental companies to keep their factories running. Ford owned Hertz (HTZ), General Motors owned all of National Car Rental and 29 percent of Avis, and Chrysler, the forerunner to Fiat Chrysler (FCA), used to own Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent-A-Car. The Detroit 3 owned these rental companies to have a place to sell their bad product and keep their factories running. These were low margin sales, and in many cases, were money losers for the Detroit 3. They no longer own auto rental companies.

Trump wants a trade deal, but South Korea doesn't want US cars

Thu, Jul 6 2017

SEOUL - US auto imports from the likes of General Motors and Ford must become more chic, affordable or fuel-efficient to reap the rewards of President Donald Trump's attempts to renegotiate a trade deal with key ally South Korea, officials and industry experts in Seoul say. Meeting South Korean President Moon Jae-in last week in Washington, Trump said the United States would do more to address trade imbalances with South Korea and create "a fair shake" to sell more cars there, the world's 11th largest auto market. "What we really want to say to the United States is: Make good cars, make cars that Korean consumers like." While imports from automakers including Ford, Chrysler and GM more than doubled last year largely thanks to free trade deal which took effect in 2012, sales account for just 1 percent of a market dominated by more affordable models from local giants Hyundai and affiliate Kia. Imports make up just 15 percent of the overall Korean auto market, and are mainly more luxurious models from German automakers BMW and Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz, which also benefit from a trade deal with the European Union. "Addressing non-tariff barriers would not fundamentally raise the competitiveness of US cars," a senior Korean government official told Reuters, declining to be identified because of the sensitivity of the subject. "What we really want to say to the United States is: Make good cars, make cars that Korean consumers like." TASTE BARRIER In Korea, US imports are seen as lagging German brands in brand image, sophistication and fuel economy, industry experts say. US imports do have a competitive advantage in electric cars: Tesla Motors' electric vehicles are seen as both environmentally friendly and trendy, while GM has launched a long-range Bolt EV. US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross had cited a quota in the current trade deal as an obstacle to boosting imports. The quota allows US automakers to bring in each year 25,000 vehicles that meet US, not necessarily Korean, safety standards. Should GM, for example, decide to bring in more than its quota of one model - the Impala sedans - it would cost up to $75 million to modify the cars to meet Korean safety standards, the company told its local labor union. Asked about non-tariff barriers, a spokesman at GM's Korean unit said removing them could expand the range of models the company can bring in from the United States. No US company, however, has yet to make full use of the quota, industry data shows.
