Up for auction is a great running 1967 Ford Mustang, C code 289 with a 4 Speed. It's the original 289, that was just rebuilt less than 500 miles ago. It was bored out to .030 over, and I have all the receipts for the rebuild. The 4 speed shifts great, and was gone through a few years ago. The car was fitted with Vintage Air that works great, and blows ice cold. The car also has a digital dash, and many upgraded parts. This s a desert car and only has a few small rust bubbles in the lower passenger door. The rest of the car is rock solid with NO RUST issues at all. The car sports brand new tires and new wheels, new front shocks, New Air Shocks in the rear, and a New Billet Grill. The car runs great and will burn the tires with no problem. It drives down the road nice, and she stops nice and straight. The paint job on the car is several years old and has chips and peeling away. The car looks good from 10 feet but, she needs some new paint. The nice thing is that the body is very straight and no rust issues. The car will be sold to the highest bidder as there is NO RESERVE!!! I have a CLEAN TITLE in hand for the car!

ENGINE/ TRANS: The engine is awesome... just looks the pictures. Original 289, completely rebuilt. New Edelbrock intake, New headers, New AC, New water pump, New Aluminum Radiator with Dual Electric Cooling fans, New Valve Covers, and the Headers lead down to a new Dual Flow Master Exhasut system. The engine fires right up and runs great, no smoking, and no leaks!! A lot of money has been spent under the hood! The trans is a great shifting T10, 4 speed that goes into all the gears great.... You can down shift or up shift without any problems! The shifter is a Hurst Shifter that is New also.

INTERIOR/ EXTERIOR: The interior is very clean overall. All the electrical stuff works, like the blinkers, brake lights, wipers, radio, and the digital dash looks awesome!! The seats have some blemishes and rips so, they should be replaced eventually. The headliner is good, the Dash Pad is new, New Digital Dash, works great but, I have not connected the speedo cable yet. New turn signal switch, New Satelite Radio with Blue Tooth, and a Touch Screen Face. The carpet is in Ok shape with some wear, kick panels are good, door panels are good, and the windows and door work just like they should. The car also has tinted windows that are in great shape with no tears or scratches.

The exterior is very straight and pretty much rust free. The paint is old, and needs to be redone. The car was originally Red with the black interior. The body lines are all good, panels all look good too. The trunk is rust free, the rockers are rust free, under the hood is rust free, and the torque boxes are in good shape. There are no signs of the car ever being involved in an accident as everything looks good and straight underneath. The drivers and passenger side front floorpans were both replaced and it looks fine. The rest of the floor is rock solid. The Windshield is brand new and it has a New Gasket also. New tires, and the wheels are in great shape.

The car is a nice driver type car! The winning bidder is required to pay a $1000 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of winning the car! The car is being sold " As Is" due to it's age. The deposit must be paid through Paypal. The remaining balance is due within 3 days of the auction closing, and the final payment may be made with a Cashiers check, wire transfer or cash in person. The car must be picked up within 2 weeks of the auction closing, and my zip code is 89131 for shipping purposes. Please email me with any questions, and good luck!!

Ford Announces Four Recalls, 1.4M Vehicles Affected

Thu, May 29 2014

Ford is taking a bit of the spotlight away from General Motors, announcing a major group of recall campaigns, covering a total of 1.4 million vehicles built between 2006 and 2013. Let's start with the big one, which covers the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and, according to The Detroit News, Ford-built Mazda Tribute CUVs. 915,216 vehicles are covered, all of which were built in model years 2008 to 2011. 736,000 vehicles are in the US, while Canada then Mexico make up the vast majority of the remainder. The problem is due to an issue with the torque sensor in the steering column, which could lead to sudden power steering failure. Manual steering would still be available, though. "Dealers will perform one of three service fixes, depending upon what diagnostic codes are shown when the vehicle is taken to the dealer," Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker wrote to Autoblog in an email. "They will either update software for the power steering control module and the instrument cluster module; replace the torque sensor; or replace the steering column, which includes upgraded power steering control module software." The most recent generation of the Ford Explorer is suffering from a similar malady, thanks to an intermittent electrical connection (we think that means short circuit) in the steering column. Like the Escape and Mariner, manual steering would still be available in the event of a power failure. Ford will recall 195,527 examples of its Explorer, 177,500 of which are in the US. This recall covers model years 2011 to 2013. According to Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has stated that Ford will inform owners of affected vehicles by July 25. Ford is also recalling 200,000 Taurus sedans, over a corrosion issue in the license plate lamp. This particular recall, which covers vehicles from model years 2010 to 2014, is limited to drivers in northern climes. Vehicle owners in southern states are free to pass on the recall. Finally, 82,576 Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ sedans from 2006 to 2011 are being recalled because of floormats that can interfere with the accelerator pedal. Dealers will replace the offensive floormats with newer examples. "Ford is committed to providing our customers with top quality vehicles. We are equally committed to addressing potential issues and responding quickly for our customers," Felker wrote.

Recharge Wrap-up: Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive is a rock star, FedEx tests electric trucks

Thu, Oct 2 2014

The Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive is in a new music video for I Lived by OneRepublic. The band's singer, Ryan Tedder, has also been brought on as a brand ambassador for the German automaker. OneRepublic will also be performing the song at the Mercedes-Benz Media Night on the eve of the Paris Motor Show. No word if Mercedes plans to offer hordes of screaming teenage fans as an option package with the B-Class Electric Drive. See the video (the car shows up around the four-minute mark) or read more in the press release below. FedEx is testing converted electric delivery trucks with diesel range extenders. Looking to shrink its carbon footprint, the company has converted a handful of trucks as part of a pilot program. In addition to battery packs, each truck is equipped with diesel turbine generators (supplied by Ian Wright's company, Wrightspeed) to provide electricity when the battery is depleted. Because the diesel motors aren't powering the vehicle directly, they can continuously run at their most efficient speed, making the trucks about twice as efficient as those powered by traditional means. Read more at Wired. Ford's new aluminum-bodied F-150 will be 5 to 20 percent more efficient, the company says. The fuel economy gains depend on the particular version of the truck, but the biggest improvement will likely come from the 3.5-liter V6 and the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6. Automotive News predicts the F-150 SFE to be rated at 21 mpg city/28 highway/23 combined, which are identical figures to the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. The result could be a noteworthy fuel economy battle between Ford and Ram trucks. Learn more at Automotive News. The US Department of Energy is providing $25 million in funding toward reducing the price of algal biofuels. The goal is to get the price of these renewable fuels below $5 per gasoline gallon equivalent (gge) by 2019, and less than $3 per gge by 2030. The money will fund projects to develop better algal cultures that produce biofuel and other useful bioproducts, and projects to boost biomass productivity. The DOE says it wants to help develop a "bioeconomy" that provides jobs, helps the environment and ensures energy security. Read more at Energy.gov. This content is hosted by a third party. Is it time for American carmakers to give up on dual-clutch transmissions? [w/poll]

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Last week, in the midst of Detroit's first days seeking relief in Chapter 9 of the bankruptcy code, Automotive News contributor Larry P. Vellequette penned an editorial suggesting that American car companies raise the white flag on dual clutch transmissions and give up on trying to persuade Americans to buy cars fitted with them. Why? Because, Vellequette says, like CVT transmissions, they "just don't sound right or feel right to American drivers." (Note: In the article, it's not clear if Vellequette is arguing against wet-clutch and dry-clutch DCTs or just dry-clutch DCTs, which is what Ford and Chrysler use.) The article goes on to state that Ford and Chrysler have experimented with DCTs and that both consumers and the automotive press haven't exactly given them glowing reviews, despite their quicker shifts and increased fuel efficiency potential compared to torque-converter automatic transmissions.
Autoblog staffers who weighed in on the relevance of DCTs in American cars generally disagreed with the blanket nature of Vellequette's statement that they don't sound or feel right, but admit that their lack of refinement compared to traditional automatics can be an issue for consumers. That's particularly true in workaday cars like the Ford Focus and Dodge Dart, both of which have come in for criticism in reviews and owner surveys. From where we sit, the higher-performance orientation of such transmissions doesn't always meld as well with the marching orders of everyday commuters (particularly if drivers haven't been educated as to the transmission's benefits and tradeoffs), and in models not fitted with paddle shifters, it's particularly hard for drivers to use a DCT to its best advantage.
Finally, we also note that DCT tuning is very much an evolving science. For instance, Autoblog editors who objected to dual-clutch tuning in the Dart have more recently found the technology agreeable in the Fiat 500L. Practice makes perfect - or at least more acceptable.
