Here is a Brass T chassis right out of the barn. I bought this and another T in the Adirondacks from a long time T collector that is thinning out projects that he doesn't have time to finish. It has for the most part correct components for the 1915 model year. The chassis has the tapered springs, cast running board brackets, early style drive shaft tube with the closed pinion spool, over the axle wishbone, round gas tank, cast dash brackets , early style drag link with cast ends, all 30x3.5 wood fellow wheels with 5 new Coker tires.(I have a excellent pair of 30x3 front wheels if the buyer would rather have them than 30x3.5s all the way around). The car has new tires on the front and 3 more that go with the sale. Brass radiator , brass rimmed headlights, side and tail lamps with brass tops, aluminum hood, DB stamped steering wheel spider, coilbox with switch correct hood former, all correct fenders, low hood and more. I was told the transmission has had a "WATTS CLUTCH" installed. I am told it gives the car a positive neutral. The motor in the car is a 1917 model but included in the sale is a 1915 short block. It has the crank and cam. No rods or pistons. The car is located 30 mile south of Rochester NY . It can sit here until after Hershey if needed as long as paid for within 7 days. Auto industry insider previews tell-all book, What Did Jesus Drive?
Tue, 11 Nov 2014
"It's about some of the biggest crises in history. It's about who did it right and who did it wrong." - Jason Vines
Jason Vines, the former head of public relations at Chrysler, Ford and Nissan, has seen a lot during his more than 30-year career, and now he's offering a behind-the-scenes look at the auto industry in his tell-all book What Did Jesus Drive? that went on sale this month.
Fiat boss Elkann being mentored by... Bill Ford?
Tue, 26 Mar 2013Fiat Chairman John Elkann has been turning to an unusual source for advice on the car business. While speaking during an interview with The Detroit News, Elkann said he often asks Bill Ford Jr. for advice on how to proceed with the turnaround at Chrysler. "It's great to have the opportunity to share this with someone like Bill, who has experienced many things and gone through many things ... especially linked to Detroit." Elkann said.
As the Agnelli family heir, Elkann has inherited a long and fruitful friendship with the Ford family. While Giovanni Agnelli built his first Fiat four years before Henry Ford created his first vehicle, it was Ford that showed Agnelli the benefits of mass production and helped pave the way for what would become the Fiat empire.
Giovanni's grandson, Gianni, helped mentor Bill Ford when he was elected chairman of Ford Motor Company. Now, Ford is returning the favor by helping Elkann navigate the automotive industry's tumultuous waters.
Long winter means most automakers won't curb summer shutdown
Sun, 18 May 2014A lot more happened during this latest brutal winter than days of snow and Netflix binges. Automotive sales took a battering. After all, going out car shopping when it's eleventy-billion degrees below zero isn't a good time.
Because of this Old Man Winter-induced sales slump, inventories are abnormally high as we head into the summer car buying season. That's led some analysts to predict that automakers will be more inclined to idle factories this summer, in a bid to trim some of the built-up inventory. Traditionally, American manufacturers offer up a two-week break in the middle of summer, although the burgeoning sales of the past few years have seen this practice become less popular.
"We're likely not going to see an acceleration this year," Jeff Schuster, a senior vice president at LMC Automotive, told The Detroit News. "We'll see production increases in 'pockets' but I don't know if it will be as widespread as in recent years."
